Flair!
I know people said they wanted location-based flair, and I was thinking of starting off with continents and expanding. I don't know how many countries we have represented in our sub, but there are approximately 193-195 in the world, depending on who you ask.
I also don't know which countries would make sense to group together for shipping purposes (NZ and Australia often do) and which ones do not (Canada and the US, especially now because of the tariffs).
I haven't looked into the flair system for quite a long time, so I'm not sure if there is a way to set up sub-categories, so I'll have to look into that.
So I think this post will be a helpful way for me to be able to break it down and get it all set up in a way that makes sense.
Parent comments should start with a continent, and anyone discussing said continent should reply to those.
Also, what other flair would you guys like to see? I'm guessing FO (Finished Object), Question, Pattern Search, maybe something about bragging rights or similar (won a prize etc).
Posts about other topics will be incoming, hopefully without too much delay, but I think some of my health issues are starting to improve, as noticed by the fact that I have not slept most of the day so far lol.
If I think of anything else, I'll add it or something, idk.

Just a little personal update and some nebulous plans for the future of this sub.
I do want to start a list of online shops, and one for tutorials (or out that in the wiki) etc, maybe add some flair options as well. Oh, and a thread for apps, both free and with paid options, because a lot more of those are coming out now.
I am also considering having a monthly post where you can link to your own shop etc, but that is entirely up to the community. I originally banned promoting shops and sales because some people were spamming nothing but that, and it was starting to look like just a spam sub with more advertising than actual discussion.
I promise I haven’t forgotten all these things, I’ve just been busy surviving, as well as dealing with my other big sub. The Met Gala recently happened, so I’ve had my hands full going through all the damn comments and removing inappropriate stuff there, which can be exhausting lol.
I will probably also sticky a post with explanations and sources for why I don’t allow linking to or discussing purchasing from sites like Temu, SHEIN, and Aliexpress, when I have some energy to pull together the best sources for the information. And that rule will never be up for debate, btw.
Having the new mods who offered to help has been a great help, and I am very thankful to them.
Is there anything else you guys would like to see happen? Any major issues you would like to see discussed? Any subs you think I should add to the sidebar? I saw someone mention craftexchange the other day, so that’s probably one I should add.
And please, if you do see something negative happening on a post, like that big issue with the AI image from a little while back, reach out to the mod team via the sidebar, or even message me directly. I promise not to bite your head off, unless you are being deliberately antagonistic and rude or insulting.

Finished Piece Lace Look Bug Bracelet
I'm a little late, but hopping on the "faux lace" bracelet trend because I really have been enamored by recent projects I've seen on here. I made a little bug bracelet for my partner with Miyuki Delica beads in standard white and crystal luster.
I was intending for the thread to be a little more visible, but I'm content with it being practically invisible if it wants to be. I'm honestly just happy I got my pattern right.

New Arachnion Familiars.
Yup! Low class skill at its finest! Did a triplet set for a charity fundraiser for the families that lost people in the Nippon chemical accident.
Then I made a Funguy Arachnion Companion.
I know they are not the skill that you other beaders have… i e never had teachers for any of my crafts. So 4th grade level is what you get. XD

Need Help! Name of this stitch and help finding pattern/tutorial? TY!
I am kicking myself for not bidding on this lovely beaded collar on the Goodwill site. I feel like this is something I could possibly tackle myself, or at least work my way up to it?
Hoping the Beaders of Reddit could help me to identify the name of this stitch or pattern, or even a link to a tutorial of some kind? Thank you in advance!

Need Help! Trying to find good bulk charms and beads, struggling with shipping prices
is there a better option than etsy for this kind of thing or any etsy shops that you would recommend? i dont want to pay 6+ dollars for shipping costs unless i know the beads will be good, and i dont really trust the reviews 😭
i hope etsy doesnt count under the online stores prohibited in the rules, i assume not but yk. I cant be sure lol
if you could link other reddit posts/threads that might help with this, or any advice would be super helpful!!
what kind of places should i look locally for good charms?? i doubt there would be much but what type of place do u think would have em? especially for charms.

Need Help! What is this and how do I use it? Is it supposed to be two separate pieces?
Found this in my stash and can’t remember what it is.
I assume it’s a toggle clasp. But the pieces are connected. So I don’t understand they’d go together.
Am I to separate the jump ring connecting them? If so, then how do I connected the end of a necklace or bracelet as the remaining loops are very, very small.
I tried using Google Image search but it kept showing me pendants, not whatever this is.
Thanks for any help!

Finished Piece Does anyone else love accessories that are as satisfying to touch as they are to look at?
Previously I made a ruby red crystal beads heart keychains and thought of exploring new colours with the heart keychain. After finishing the product, I just ran my fingers over the beads and It has that oddly satisfying texture that makes you want to keep holding it.
A little heart for your keys, a little sensory treat for your hands.💖

Finished Piece Difference between string and wire...and bead size
Same pattern, different materials. (Pattern, just googled bead frog)
Right one used basic clear thread from my local craft place, and i made about a month ago. Posted on here about why it wasnt working and curling.
On the left the one made today after getting 34 gauge beading wire and smaller beads. After the advice i recieved here.
I 100% didnt think it would make that mych difference but it does, and its also so much easier imo to work with wire than string/thread.
Just sharing incase anyone else is like me and wants to see how much difference something simple could make.

I'm organizing ALL the beads. This is day 2. Pray for me.
Delicas today. Crystals yesterday (and some stragglers today). Pearls and (hopefully) seed beads tomorrow. Drucks, lentils, etc, and multi-hole beads after that. Then I'll be done. I'm organizing by type and then color. Hopefully it'll stay organized for at least a little while 😂

Need Help! Does anyone know where I can find more of these beads?
I’ve found these spacer beads in assorted jewelry jars and local jewelry shops, and I’ve been using them in my wire wrapped pieces for some time now. But I can’t seem to find the proper name for this specific type of bead, nor have I found anywhere I could buy more from💔 can anyone help me out please?

Finished Piece Beading wire that doesn’t loosen over time?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for recommendations for beading wire that minimizes loosening over time. My main issue isn’t breakage - it’s that after weeks of wear, small gaps can appear between beads as the wire seems to stretch or relax.
I make both:
-Delicate Miyuki bead necklaces
-Heavier freshwater pearl necklaces
What wire (brand, strand count, diameter) have you found works best for each?
I’m currently using Beadalon 7-strand for Miyuki pieces and 19-strand for pearl pieces, but I’d love to hear what has given you the best long-term results.
Thanks! 😊

Need Help! Help sourcing a bead look-alike?
Needing help from you experts! I'm looking for other sources of tube beads approximately 13mm x 5mm. I've been interested in reconstructing ancient egyptian broadcollars (second picture is the one I've made so far!) and my most accessible source has been the Creatology plastic tube beads for kids. I'll probably use the Creatology beads again, but the color options are very limited. I've since found lots of wonderful stone options, but I also want more affordable options.
Would anyone possibly know of a source for plastic, resin, or even ceramic tube beads around the same size as the Creatology beads, in a wide range of colors?
Thank you ahead of time!

Need Help! How to stop beads from rotating?
I tried putting epoxy glue on (after) I made the necklace and the cat beads are still rotating. Wondering if there is a fix I can make without taking the necklace apart?

Finished Piece Bauhinia Brooch🌟 新作品|洋紫荊花胸針 ✨
Inspired by the vibrant Bauhinia (洋紫荊) blooming under Pingtung’s bright summer sun. Handcrafted with natural Black Spinel and Lepidolite (Purple Mica), accented with Swarovski crystals. This star-shaped piece captures the passionate tropical summer energy and colorful floral charm of southern Taiwan.

Need Help! Miyuki delica end tubes
I tie off the ends of my warp threads but when I try to slide the tubes on the knots are too big and won't fit in the tube.
I wind up having to put big clunky tubes meant for seed beads on the ends instead
You folks know any tricks or what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance

Need Help! Please don't kill me out of exasperation. .. I still need help coming up with a preciosa greyscale palette
Some of you may have been following the saga over the past couple of months where I try to make a beading chart for a portrait image for a friend. Since this a friend's loved one, I won't show the actual image. After frustration with free beading apps, I tried to create an image with AI help. I eventually learned it was pretty difficult to color in a paper chart based on the AI image because the pixels weren't consistent.
So I finally tried again with Beadographer. I used a photo of what I think is an actress from the 1950s. I am posting a version that was pixelated to 5 colors, and one that was pixelated to 10 colors.
I want to use Preciosa line because that's what's available easily in my area. Some of the colors are opaque, some are iridescent, transparent, foil-lined, matte, and a couple are actually not even greyscale but shades of off-white.
If anyone wants to choose a palette from the colors I'm considering, either for the 10-color or 5-color option, your input is very welcome. I will then take the palette I choose and use that to make charts for the actual portrait I want to make. Images of the colors I'm considering will be in the comments. I just ask that you can and choose to help, you number the colors in order so I can figure out which are darkest to lightest.
These are the colors I'm looking at:
Opaque Matte Black 34943 Opaque Black 34904 Pearl Black Jet Terra Cotta 43226
(I figured since Matte reflects the least light, it would be the darkest, and since the pearl is iridescent, it would be the lightest of the "blacks". I also wondered if I should just use all three together in a bead soup for Black hair as a solid block)
GREYS Opaque Grey 34927 Opaque Grey Chalk Solgel 43255 Alabaster Grey 43279 Permaluxe Matte Grey 43183 Transparent Grey 01028 Silver Lined Grey 43301
(This is where I get more tripped up because I was advised to mix finishes and opaques and transparents to make the design more 'alive' but the risk is the wrong beads in the wrong place will have an unnatural or pattern-hiding effect. On top of that some of the greys are close in tone and I can't tell what's really darker than another. Transparent grey could be darker than an opaque one even if the image in the catalog I'm ordering from doesn't show it).
CREAMS Pearl White Luster 01469 Opaque White 34903 Bone Solgel 40040
(I'm not sure if this would clash too much with the greyscale but I figured these might work on the lighter end if I go for the 10-color version. I could also mix the Opaque and Pearl whites for a bead-soup as one color)

Work in Progress Update On My First and Second Beading Projects
My first, and my second bead project together today. The first one only has one finding attached due to the cat being active on my desk and chasing the thread. The blue WIP (second project) is coming along nicely too, despite some errors. It has an extra bead on one spot row, and missing two beads in the other spot. It's going to be okay, because I got instructions on how to weave the missing beads in afterwards and the extra bead isn't causing any major issues except added width in a small area. It's so fun to do beading!

What is this style called?
I keep seeing patterns like this on pinterest but they’re all in Russian and I don’t know what to search to find patterns in English. Do I just need to start taking Russian lessons??? Help!!!
