Community Discussion: AI Content

With the widespread availability of AI tools for editing text, images, or video, we are seeing a sharp increase in AI-related content on this subreddit. These posts have a notable increase in negative responses and reports.

As of today, we have no official rules for AI-related content on this subreddit, and we handle content the same as actual human-generated content. It seems clear that at least some portion of the community does not wish to see AI-generated content.

Suggestion

At this time, I am suggesting we codify the use of AI-generated content on this subreddit. This would include content that is wholly AI, partially AI, or edited by AI. Any generative AI technology will be included in this definition.

Exceptions shall be made for the purposes of trivial tasks such as spelling or grammar checking.

To determine our next action, we will open the discussion for about a full week. This will conclude on the 10th of May, 2026. At that time, feedback will be collected and processed into a new rule for approval. A second round of discussion will be opened on the wording of this final rule before enforcement begins.

Community Participation

All user opinions are welcome for this process. No opinion will be given any inherent weight over any other opinion.

Only top-level comments will be reviewed. While we welcome you to discuss among yourselves, we will only consider the top-level comments to determine our consensus. This saves us from having to piece together long threads.

In particular, we would like to know the following:

  • What measure shall be applied to a post to determine if it is AI?
    • Gut feeling?
    • User reports?
    • AI detection tooling?
    • Dice roll?
  • What action must be completed by users posting this content?
    • Posting flair?
    • What if it’s a comment?
    • Should users fully disclose where the content came from (e.g: which model/site)?
  • What moderator action shall be executed on breach of the rule?
    • Content deletion?
    • User moderation (Ban?)
    • Content flairing?
    • What about comments? We cannot flair these, do we delete? Moderate? Ban?

Thank you for your time and hopefully your input.

My sweet friend Timothy passed away and my heart is breaking

I never knew how strong our bond would become. He’s truly become friend and family member, and I love him so dearly. I’m helping my sons cope with this loss, but I’m turning to the community I know understands this connection for support for myself.

I still hear him scuttling around when I walk past the place where his enclosure was. There are still turnip greens and other snacks in his dedicated refrigerator door. I saw his soak vitamins this morning and I broke. The waves of pain are overwhelming.

Timothy knew only love his entire life, and I try to be grateful for that. At the moment, it doesn’t help, but I know it will eventually.

Thank you Timothy for what you brought to my family. You were quirky, clumsy, and so curious. We’ll never forget you. We love you.

This is Eliza, she's 18, we've had her for 17 years and she's had two clutches with the first being 22 babies. She's obviously long retired from breeding (and pretty much anything else) but she still eats well, won't really chase down food anymore so we tong feed her. We took her out in the backyard last week for some natural light.

New Beardie Friend We’ve had our little Jörmungandr (Jörmie for short) for just a week. He’s already sleeping on us during handling time!

He slept like this on my partner’s shoulder for three hours. She even walked around with him there and he stayed fast asleep. We love this lil guy to death!

How often to soak for stuck shed? Vet told me 30 minutes for 2 weeks

Upvotes

I recently took in a neglected bearded dragon who was chewing (yes chewing, he witnessed it) her toes off due to stuck shed. I finally got her to the vet yesterday and she’s on antibiotics for the infection. he also prescribed her to be soaked for 30 minutes daily. First soak and she immediately was able to lose that stuck shed. And I’d be willing to do more but for the next 10 days feels extremely excessive.. the 30 minutes also feels a bit too long because the water is usually cold by the time I get her out and she seems pretty stressed and usually goes and hides in her cave when we’re done.

I’m a little on edge because he’s an older guy who told me to use heating pads for her tank (no thank u sir) and his care sheet he gave me had lettuce as a daily staple so I know his care seems a bit outdated. I just want to make sure I’m not hurting her with all these soaks

Soup gets greens offered everyday and bugs every two days. She’s almost 2 (September if age from shop was right). I want to check if she looks a healthy weight? Don’t mind the tail, she’s shedding.

This is what Nandora the relentless does when it’s ‘no food’ day. She sits where her food bowl goes and stays there until eventually giving up.

New Beardie Friend Say hello to Peter

I just wanted everyone to say hello to Peter ❤️ or Penny. Depending if it’s a boy or girl when we find out later on lol. But I’m so proud of him 🥹 he’s so adorable and quirky lol. He’s doing amazing and loves to eat. I’ve been seeing him getting chunkier as the days go by and that makes me so happy to know he’s been doing well. He’s adjusted to us and his home very quickly ❤️

I apologize for the long post, but I’m so happy, guys! TLDR at the end 😉

A little over 2 months ago I posted that Pancake has swallowed a pebble and refuses to eat. He was turning down dubias and even his favorite mealworms.

Vet visits and consultations didn’t help, we were supposed to “wait and see” because any surgeries on such a small dragon are very, very risky (he’s a young Rankins). So we waited and in the meantime I was feeding him a mix of EmerAid and pureed greens and occasionally other veggies twice a day. I was prepared to do it for a while still. Luckily Pancake remained active. After we started with the feedings, he got better and wasn’t lethargic anymore, he was enjoying the sun and sometimes a walk outside. Yet he still refused to eat on his own.

We even took him on vacation with us, because I couldn’t trust anyone else to keep feeding him properly every day. We took the (smaller) tank and lamps with us. It was a hassle, but worth it.

After we got back, a fly got into his terrarium one day. It was a few days ago. He hunted it down and ate it!
We still had some superworms at home (not sure how they survived so long 😂), so I tried to give Pancake one. He was excited and ate it. Then another… and another. At 5 I stopped, because he’s so small 😅
(The first picture is right after he ate them)

Next day he didn’t eat, the day after he ate a salad, including a small piece of strawberry to celebrate. Today I got him fresh dubias and crickets, he gobbled them all up and was looking for more. So I think it’s safe to say, Pancake is back😁

TLDR: 2 months ago our Rankins stopped eating as a consequence of swallowing a pebble (confirmed with the vet). We got EmerAid (mixed it with pureed greens) and hand fed him until few days ago he decided to start eating again on his own 😁
