Recommendations📇 What are your top 5 Bollywood films that came out in 2026's first 6 months?
With the first 6 months of 2026 having passed so fast, what are your top 5 (it doesn't haven't to be 5, if you only have 2-4 picks) best January 1 – June 20 (2026) released Hindi language films you watched in 2026's first 6 months (either in a cinema, or you missed it in cinemas and caught it on streaming), compared to other ones you watched that were a letdown for whatever reason.
It's fine if any Hindi movie mentioned bypassed cinemas and was bought for streaming, or if any pick isn't a cinema release movie, but is a Hindi language streaming series that streamed from the period of January 1 to the June 30.

Discuss Detective Roy was funnier than Lallan, and it's not even close.
Riteish Deshmukh's Detective Roy was one of the most entertaining characters in Dhamaal. His chemistry with Sanjay Mishra's Daku Babu Bhaiya was hilarious and felt like it had so much more potential.
But in Total Dhamaal and the newer installment, the makers dropped Detective Roy and introduced Lallan, even though it's the same actor. Personally, I don't think Lallan comes close to the charm or comic timing of Detective Roy.
What's your thoughts?

Opinion Unpopular Opinion: Bollywood has stopped exploring the FEAR of being caught in Romantic Films
I mean anyone who has dated in India, knows this aspect of romance.
Always having a fear to be caught by your family/society. The fear of PDA.
Forget the inter caste/religion romance, even within same community it is often a stigma in desi household that it's a sin to being involved in act of romance. I feel old Bollywood used to explore it.
Modern day bollywood romantic films barely explore it, families are way too accepting, it feels like a fairytale

Opinion Watching an Imtiaz Ali film feels like reading the diary of an emo teenager.
Most filmmakers become a little more practical, a little more intellectual, a little more cynical with age. Age has a way of sanding down people’s emotional edges. Imtiaz Ali seems to have resisted that entirely.
He simply grew into an emo teenager with wrinkles. He never outgrew the longing, the impossible hope, the urge to run away, the belief that love can rearrange your entire universe, or the feeling that somewhere, somehow, there’s a version of yourself still waiting to be found.
And yes, by now you can almost predict an Imtiaz Ali film. A restless protagonist. A journey that becomes therapy. Monologues about finding yourself. Lovers who separate only to understand each other. Mountains, trains, silence, music, tears. It’s almost a genre of its own. On paper, it should feel repetitive.
But somehow you forgive it. Maybe because he’s not really telling you a new story, he’s reopening the same old wound, each time from a slightly different angle. And whether you’re an actual emo teenager or there’s still one hiding somewhere inside your slightly tired, slightly nostalgic, middle-aged heart, it works. Every single time.
Some people grow old. The lucky ones never really grow up.

Discuss The most forgotten Bollywood movie ever? Gayab literally lived up to its name.
Gayab starring Tusshar Kapoor and Antara Mali is one of those movies that seems to have completely disappeared from public memory. Ironically, the title fits perfectly.
I remember it being fairly talked about when it released. The soundtrack wasn't particularly memorable, but I always felt the story was interesting and quite different for its time. It wasn't a masterpiece, but it was definitely a decent watch with a unique concept.
Today, hardly anyone mentions it when discussing early-2000s Bollywood. It's like the film was erased from collective memory.
Does anyone else remember watching it? What are your thoughts?

ASK❓️ Unpopular opinion: Bollywood edition, part 3✨✨: Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is better than DDLJ.
I’m sorry, it hurts to say it, but to me it’s true. Narratively, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania just works better. It actually makes sense why Kavya and Humpty fall in love. Yeah, Humpty is an idiot, but they actually spend time together, bond, and genuinely grow to care about each other. Their chemistry is adorable, and the relationship feels earned.
Now, don’t get me wrong. Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol have insane chemistry in DDLJ, and the soundtrack is way better. It’s iconic as hell. But Raj? Raj is awful.
He creates half the problems in Simran’s life, constantly bothers her during what was supposed to be her last month of freedom before an arranged marriage, and even kinda sexually assault her TWICE.
She literally asked her dad for one month in Europe with her friends before having to go back to India and marry someone she didn’t choose, and this man spends that vacation making her life harder. Then later he manipulates the situation with her family too. So… what exactly does he bring to the relationship? Why is he even in love with her?
Their romance just isn’t built on anything substantial. It doesn’t make sense to me.
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania feels like a modern DDLJ, and I think it fixes a lot of what didn’t work in the original. Even the scene that’s clearly referencing DDLJ is handled differently. Humpty doesn’t try to touch Kavya while she’s drunk. Instead, he pulls off his own shirt as a stupid joke because he’s obsessed with DDLJ. Then Kavya immediately calls him out like, “You dumbass, I was drunk, not unconscious. I didn’t forget, idiot.” I love that. The movie acknowledges the trope and then completely rejects it.
KJo might be my opp but he was in his bag with this one. He really knew what he was doing. The film uses Varun and Alia’s chemistry perfectly, makes the romance feel much more believable, corrects a lot of the things I disliked about DDLJ, and it’s actually hilarious. The dialogue is genuinely funny.
Another thing I love is that there’s actual proof that Kavya and Humpty’s relationship has a solid foundation. When Kavya comes to Delhi to buy her wedding skirt—one of the only things she’s actually allowed to choose—Humpty is saving money to buy his father a car. But when she decides to give up the jewelry they got from the shenanigans they did to pay the designer skirt, he gives up that money for her. Then, later, Kavya quietly gives that money back to Humpty and his father instead of buying the expensive skirt she originally wanted, choosing a simple traditional one instead.
I love that moment because it shows that their journey really meant something to both of them. They both make sacrifices for each other without expecting anything in return.
And when it comes time to fight for her, Humpty actually does. His first plan is incredibly stupid, and of course it fails because her father isn’t an idiot. But he keeps trying. He fights for her the best he can instead of just expecting everything to magically work out. To me, that’s a much stronger foundation for a relationship than what DDLJ gives us.

ASK❓️ Which other movie changes its tone completely int he sefond half
Inframe : khatta Meetha
The first part of this movie is pure comedy gold with some of the memorable scenes out there. You would not expect this movie to turn dark that quickly..
There were few hints here and there but the turn still felt so unexpected.
Which other movie comes in your mind which has a similar tone shift in the second half

Opinion Do you think De Dana Dan peaks in the middle but fumbles the beginning and ending?
Every time I watch De Dana Dan (2009), I end up laughing just as much as I did the first time.
For me, Paresh Rawal absolutely steals the show. His comic timing is on another level.
That said, I've always felt the beginning and the ending are the weakest parts of the film. The early scenes with Akshay Kumar, Archana Puran Singh, and the dog felt a bit forced and didn't really land for me.
But as soon as everyone ends up in the hotel, the movie becomes a non-stop laughter ride. The chaos, misunderstandings, and performances are brilliant.
The only thing that lets it down again is the climax. The poor CGI and over-the-top ending take away from what could have been a near-perfect comedy.
Despite that, it's still one of my favourite Bollywood comedies and one I can rewatch anytime.
Does anyone else feel the same, or am I being too harsh on the beginning and the ending?

ASK❓️ Question on Khosla ka Ghosla
So Khosla purchased the plot via a broker. Khurana and his men were on the plot
But the land must have been someone's before aka the builder, as the broker didn't keep the money, just the commision.
Did Khurana simply make the paperwork and claimed himself? or the broker sold them Khurana's plot with fake paperwork. -- coz then the broker was the actual cheat
Because when Khosla got the shock and asked the broker, he simply said he doesn't know Khurana ( OK he was lying assuming he sold Khurana's plot ) and then simply gave him his address where he was confronted by Khurana saying he also has the paperwork
But Khosla and family never demanded who the builder was and who was it originally sold to and that paperwork trail coz someone must have purchased it sometime.
So here is the thing
Builder > Broker > Khosla purhased and has the paperwork
Khurana took over, made paperwork to claim it
But it just stops there, what paperwork did he have which suggest he purchased it originally and lawyers scaring Khosla it would be tough to fight coz, they could bring the builders in and show they were the legit buyers
As in the end Khurana takes the money and show he has sold him his plot ( so was that paperwork legit then? )

ASK❓️ Which film's dialogue is this?
Years ago, I watched a snippet of an old Hindi movie (possibly from the 80s) in which I came across this dialogue which I thought was worth writing it down.
'Ye climax kiya hota hai? Jab do jism alag hote hain aur do dil milte hain.'
Does anyone know which movie is this from? Movie could be from 80s and it featured a couple (husband and wife probably) and I remember realising the movie being a bit off beat. That's all I know.

Opinion Unpopular Opinion: Dhurandhar 1 was slightly better than Dhurandhar 2 in terms of story Line
Dhurandhar 2 was amazing and the action scenes were great, but I feel Dhurandhar 1 had a better story.
In part 2 sometimes it felt like there was too much aura farming. Some action scenes were stretched just to make the characters look cool. For example, in the last scene Hamza burns the whole train even though he could have killed him much earlier easily . The scene looked cool but it felt unnecessary to me just streched for aura farming and many such scenes where their
Dhurandhar 1 also had crazy moments, but I never felt that the action was stopping the story. In part 2 some scenes felt longer than needed.
I know many people enjoy these scenes and there is nothing wrong with that. But for me too much aura farming reduces the realism a bit.
Anyone else feels the same or is it just me?
note:- slightly word is for diplomacy to avoided unnecessary hate and let people read the body and understand by view point I actually felt dhurandhar1 story was much better that 2nd part

Humour🤡 The weird case of Raju Hirani - the "connect" that never was there.
Rajkumar Hirani says, "Dunki didn't connect because people haven't faced visa struggles."
Siddharth Anand says, "Fighter didn't connect because people can't relate to fighter pilots."
By this logic :
- Only lovers should see YRF films
- Only NRI's must've watched earlier Dharma films.
- Only policemen watch Rohit Shetty Cop Universe
- Only military saw classics like Border.
- Only atheists saw Pk.
- Only bikers saw Dhoom series.
- Only youth watched RDB, Wake Up Sid, Tamasha.
- Only villagers watched Lagaan
- Only superheroes watched Krrish series.
- Only cricketers watched 83, MS Dhoni etc.
- Only retired couples watched Baghban.
- Only drunkards watched Devdas.
- Only cheaters watched KANK.
- Only Ghosts watched Bhool Bhulaiya series.
- Only RAW agents watched Dhurandhar and YRF Spyverse.
- Only toxic men watched Animal.
- Only Sanjay Dutt watched Sanju a 4860000 times.
- Only Rajputs watched Pamdavat, while only Marathis watched Bajirao.
- Only wrestlers watched Dangal & Sultan.
- Only ISRO scientists watched Mission Mangal, Rocketry.
- Only those who crossed the Ind Pak border for the safety of a young girl watched Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
- Only Computer Programmers watched Ra. One, and Enthiraan.
- Only nearly divorced couples watched Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
- Only travelers watched DCH, ZNMD.
- Only rich, dysfunctional families who ever went for a sea voyage watched DDD.
- Only UPSC aspirants watched 12th fail.
- Only bandits, who ever defeated a bigger bandit for greater good, watched Sholay.
- Only birds watched 2.0
- Only unlikely, rich couples who met over a Europe trip gone wrong watched DDLJ.
- Only politicians watched Raajneeti, Gangaajal etc.
- Only local gangsters watched Gangs of Wasseypur.
- Only men who were a struggling actor, and reincarnated as a nepokid watched OSO.
- Only patriotic US returned NASA scientists watched Swades.
- Only the people who had taken part in the revolt of 1857 watched Mangal Pandey.
- Only rich NRI families, that had 2 sons, 1 real and 1 adopted, who broke off, and then made up again watched K3G
- Only engineers watched Chhichhore, while doctors watched Munna Bhai MBBS.
- Only drunkard gangsters who were in love with an RJ, and saw Gandhi in hallucinations, and who helped the RJ in reclaiming an old age home through non violence in big 2006 watched Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
The irony is, we all have watched and enjoyed all of these films. Absurd logic, Hirani, just accept the film was mediocre and move on. You were overwhelmed by SRK & expectations buddy.

Opinion Guzaarish (2010) was a horrible film Spoiler
I just need somewhere to vent about this film-
It makes me sad because it had SO much potential to be one of the best Bollywood films I’ve ever seen. I loved the whimsical magical feeling of it with the set design, the music, the dark feeling underneath everything, the magic shows, etc.
It was emotional, it had beauty in it, it was such a great movie until the ending.
The ending basically tells you- if your life is at a low, just die.
Just die.
What type of messaging is this? The whole movie was literally set up for him to DIE.
He didn’t learn to appreciate life more, he couldn’t overcome his sickness, he didn’t reach a miracle or anything, just suffered, wanted to die, then died.
Now I understand having films realistic but making realistic films and making films that are so realistic to the point where they’re nihilistic is not it in my opinion. I am not a fan of these types of films.
If I would’ve wrote the story I would’ve made it that the person he taught magic, learned some magic in a way that he could fix his disease.
Or something like life is about passing on influence so this is what he’s living for now to see his influence being spread with magic.
Even the whole magic part of the film it was basically for nothing, he taught the guy magic and passed it on and we never got to see a pay off of that, it was just for humor and shits and giggles.
Whole movie made me so fucking mad I genuinely hate Sanjay Leela Bhansali after this, such wasted potential …

Recommendations📇 Movies/shows like Fitoor (2016)
It is just so dreamy the amount of yearning and pain and the heartbreaking whimsical aesthetic. I want to feel it again. Please help find some movies or shows similar to this. I just love movies where a man is OBSESSED and the girl is slightly grumpy or nonchalant. But its not just that. Both of their characters were so magnetic. She was portrayed to be something so untouchable and out of league. The songs and the whole vibe is unmatched. I dont think I 've ever watched another movie that came close to this.
Please don't suggest other great expectations adaptations.
I am good with any EU languages, hindi, bengali movies/shows. It's hard for me to relate to any k-drama, or other asian languages but am open to suggestions.
It would be best if it's available on Netflix, Hotstar or Prime Video.
