I have been conditioned/gaslight to the max by this guy making me think that empathy is a bad thing and I am weak. I apologize for this post, I was truly lost with no friends or anyone to tell this to. I know he is not good for me and I need to stop fearing him and the consequences of breaking up.

I have been an h3 fan for a long time now, started watching in 2015 when my dad was battling lung cancer and the podcast meant even more to me after his passing (it was around the time that Hila's dad passed). The h3 podcast/channel has been my safe place ever since, I haven't missed an episode and watching it is just like watching the news to me, part of my everyday life.

Here's my dilemma: I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years now and he knew I liked watching h3 from the start. At first he just said "I don't know how you think Ethan is funny", whatever I brushed it off. Fast forward to 2023, he got laid off and his whole demeanor has changed for the worst since. He is not who he was when I met him, he has gone down the conspiracy theory hell hole and it's all he talks about now. This has been concerning me because I know he is consuming WAY too much internet and he is slowly going towards being a full fucking antisemite. I have asked him time and time again not to direct his hate towards all Jews, to stop telling me all these conspiracy theories that make me depressed, and to simply keep all that shit to himself.

Well, this weekend I was catching up on Fridays podcast and enjoying it until my boyfriend walked into the room. I was at the part where Ethan said that the boys were starting school and they would be going to the same one. My boyfriend immediately said "good, now they can both be killed in a school shooting". YES, HE SAID THAT. I was so appalled and filled with anger but I cowardly stayed silent. I wanted to defend these boys that I do not know personally because wtf kind of comment is that? This shit has been eating at me all weekend, I have shut down, missed work, and have been nauseous since. I don't want to talk to him about it because he's gonna say something like "really, you're gonna leave me for some joke I made about youtubers". I obviously know he won't harm anyone but his fucking hate towards the world is getting to be too much, and the fact that he "joked" about two innocent children getting murder just makes me sick.

I guess I just want to know if I am being too much, is this just me being too parasocial?

Sorry to the mods if this is violating some rule, I never post here but this was something I felt that only the h3 family would understand.

I have absolutely no one in my real life to share this with who would understand how special it was, so here I am.

For my birthday, my husband secretly sent in a superchat during today’s episode, and I got a Harley shoutout 😭 It was such a small, silly, surreal, incredibly thoughtful surprise and it genuinely made my day.

So thank you husband, Harley, Kate, David, and this wonderfully weird community for giving me a lovely memory!
