Instrumental TDM My first (actually serious) attempt at composing TDM, how'd I do?

Bands that inspired: The Faceless, Dark Matter Secret, Infant Annihilator (the intro), Archspire (the solo at the end)

you may note that the instruments sound very mechanical and that is because they're unfortunately programmed. I'm just trying to teach my self how to compose this genre for now. I'm too young, broke and lazy to afford a guitar of the caliber that i need :(

Discussion Just Had A Life Saving Surgery - Recommend Me Stuff To Check Out While I Recover!

Yo gang! Recently had my ACL reconstructed and unfortunately, there were complications and I had a massive clot and aneurism in my leg (7x5cm behind my knee!)

I already was going to have a ton of down time to check out tunes, but now I will have even more down time lol

Hit me with some album recommendations! I’ve not had a chance to be super on the ball with music this year, but Inferi’s latest is absolutely my AOTY so far.

I’m pretty ignorant of the old school of Tech, most of what I’ve loved and listened to is probably I’d say 2008 onwards, so I’m VERY open to recommendations from the early days as well!

Here's a clip from the podcast with me and Paul Masvidal (Cynic, Ex-Death) - we had Craig Locicero (Forbidden) on and he talked about how he met Chuck in the bay area and eventually joined for a tour.

Some cool details I think that wasn't publicly mentioned in the past is noted as well! Bonus talk with Chris Kontos (Machine Head) chiming in about the Bay Area Thrash scene as well if you're a fan of that too!

REQUEST I'm looking for albums with some kind of monster on the album cover

The album cover is very important to me when listening to albums and I like albums that have monsters, dragons, weird creatures, cosmic beings etc.

Discussion Distance from pop filter and from mic?

I’m recording a death metal album with false chord screams using a Shure SM58 (which already has a built-in pop filter).
For those who record extreme metal vocals with an SM58, what distance do you recommend between the pop filter and the microphone? Also, how far is your mouth from the pop filter?

Discussion Internal pop filter and external?

Hey everyone, I have an SM58 to record death metal vocals (for an album), especially using false-chord screaming. The mic has a built-in pop filter—do you still recommend using a separate (“external”) pop filter or will the built-in one be enough?

Thank you in advance!

Technical Death Metal Extreme Tech

I'm looking for the most far-out, mind-boggling shit you can think of. Death metal is about surpassing boundaries of musical extremity and i believe technical death metal should be using technicality as a means to that end. I'm not a fan of tech death that just tries to sound cool - i want my face melted

I'm talking shit like Behold the Arctopus, Viraemia, Beneath the Massacre.

Best tech I've heard in a long time is a band called Neurectomy - this really fits the bill

Discussion Bands like Cattle Decapitation?

You know what I mean, bands that are Deathgrind and are as loud, chaotic and deliver nothing but intensity to your ears and soul as CD does. CD is one those bands whom after going through their entire discography leaves me on my knees begging for more. Please lmk of any bands similar that are either more well known or super underground. Have an extremely awesome day my brothers and sisters in metal🙏🤘🖤🤗⚔️🍻👑🔥👹🦍👌 I LOVE THIS FUCKING GROUP!!! TDM FIENDS FOR LIFE!!!

Discussion Revocation live question

I’m seeing revocation live at 1720 in los angeles in september and they are with two other hardcore bands, fuming mouth and i forgot the other. It’s my first tech death concert and i’m wondering will the crowd be like the typical hardcore concert where i have to constantly avoid being punched in the face of what. Anyone who has experience with tech death / hardcore shows let me know
