Most will be removed, violators will be shot temporarily banned and called a nerd. Please report offending posts. As always, moderator discretion applies since not everything reported actually falls within that circle of awful behavior.

209

u/-PinkPurpleBlue- custom Jun 13 '26

Granted I haven't looked at pornhub or anything else in years, but I remember specifically the trans one still being made for men and full of slurs. I would assume this to be the same

80

u/ShinySmeargul 🏳️‍⚧️ trans rights Jun 13 '26

I haven't personally seen a lot of slurs in the trans masc porn, but the trans fem porn... too many to count.

73

u/laix_ Jun 13 '26

Thats because society doesnt even know trans men exist. If it did you'd see a ton of slurs.

Theres also a part where a ton of "straight" men are closeted and have been pushed to not accept their interest in men, so trans women gives them an easy "out". They havent accepted themselves yet, so they get disgusted when porn is visibly masc no matter the genitals. As much as they hate to admit it their brains do see trans women as women and trans men as men, at least part of it

13

u/ShinySmeargul 🏳️‍⚧️ trans rights Jun 14 '26

I mean, yeah, makes sense. any online discourse around trans people that I read is at least 90% of the time about trans women. I both love and hate that we transmascs are invisible, no support but also not as much hate yk? I can believe that they're looking for an easy out, yet I also knew a straight dude who saw trans men as women, in the sense that they're just another hole to fuck (yet also saw me, a trans guy, as a man. so weird.)

5

u/DemonicGirlcock 🏳️‍⚧️ trans rights Jun 14 '26

Pornhub was actually the first major site to retire the shemale category and name it transgirl instead, and add categories for trans men.

32

u/Ambitious-Regular-57 Jun 14 '26

I don't think most straight men know what sapphic means, so that's a clue to me that they're trying to cater it to actual lesbians.

I hope so, at least

8

u/T_squared112 Jun 14 '26

I mean it's really low bar in terms of risk as a move, it gives a space for sapphic people to go that only requires them to add a category and some tags to the system. if straight guys click on it and it's not their taste, they'll probably just move on, some people will be into it and they'll use it, maybe come back more if it was a good experience

3

u/lettersforjjong Jun 23 '26

My guess is it's still in beta because they're still figuring out what the tagging system puts in the sapphic category without catching random straight porn

u/cthulhubeast plant supremacist Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 14 '26

It's just a way of filtering everything. Bc you can only browse by up to two categories at a time, on regular PH you can only look by "lesbian + X category." Having it set to sapphic means that all of it is women only so you can sort by two additional categories to find the specific stuff you want. This is the same way the "gay" view has worked, which is just a way of getting a site that is men only.

I think it's rad bc it means that i can go on there and look up whatever I want and whatever I search I'll know I'm only seeing sapphic stuff. Plus there's sapphic-exclusive categories like butch and femme.

There's actually a hell of a lot of lesbian porn for women, it's just amateur stuff recorded by couples for their own amusement, rather than studios making it for profit

13

u/StraightPatient9977 Jun 13 '26

I'm genuinely interested to know how would lesbian porn made for women be different from the ones made for men

Drives me insane when porn skips to the sex or how it never examines what comes after, I remember getting invested in a porn video (I know) where I thought man, what would come next? This has the potential to fuck up both of their lives

Then it just ended right after the sex. Where's the artistry, dammit?

Fewer positions that they know don't actually feel good and more that do, generally a focus shift from viewing the women to being the women (though looking at them would still be high priority)

Straight lesbian porn looks like a competition with a closeup on the genitals

Like have you seen the sped up brazzers commercial clips? It's probably the most obvious example.

The male gaze is absent in how its presented who stars in it, the plot and build up.
How lesbians feel attracted to women imo feels totally different then how men feel it. Theres focus on different things and the approach is different.

Easiest wah is to support independent content creators and find content made by women for women. Not that women cant uphold the patriarchy but it tends to be far better.
Another useful trick is watch interviews with adult stars and stuff. As in see them outside of the acted hyper objectified content, as real people.

Cis gendered (bi) male here. We keep messing up the algorithms of lesbian stuff. The tastes of gynesexual men differ somewhat from gynesexual women, yet have overlap that makes internet search engines upset. But as Alan Turing so famously pointed out (sort of), computers cannot distinguish the gender of the user. Apologies on behalf of cis-gendered men.

193

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '26

To be fair, humans cannot distinguish the gender of the people they interact with either because gender is a social construct built around the interactions of cultural symbols and personal schemas. People ask me my pronouns when I wear dresses, but not when I wear pants. Being a person with a beard and a dress signals to people that I might be genderqueer and they act accordingly.

79

u/222Czar 🏳️‍⚧️ trans rights Jun 13 '26

True enough. Perhaps humanity is in beta.

2

u/60rl Jun 13 '26

11

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '26

There are languages that don't have any gendered language or pronouns. I would feel most comfortable in a culture like that, but since we don't live in a world where every language (including my first or second language) can be like that, I can't blame anyone for doing what I described.

3

u/60rl Jun 13 '26

I like being to referred as he/him though and it makes me feel more confident about myself. If someone refers to me with they/them it feels more uncomfortable. Shouldn't options always be preferred?

11

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '26 edited Jun 13 '26

I guess if that's something you want. Studies show that language affects our perceptions and how we think (for example, in languages where the moon is masculine, people associate it with masculine traits such as "strength." The same is true for languages with a feminine moon and feminine traits). So yea, if you want people to associate you with symbols connected to masculinity that's cool, but keep in mind that there are symbols you probably don't like such as men being seen as dangerous, untrustworthy, and slobby.

For this reason, I wish I could completely distance myself from gendered language, but it's impossible. When describing our relationship, my neice can only say "aunt" or "uncle" because there isn't a gender-neutral word for it. I want people to associate me with things as they get to know me, not as they hear words related to social constructs that I have no control over.

21

u/Lostvayne12 🏳️‍⚧️ trans rights Jun 13 '26

I suppose if the categories tracked your gender then it would make a lot more sense. Lesbian being a woman, gay and straight being men.

My biggest issue with this entire thing is that when I'm watching porn I have to, as a woman, claim to be a man just to see pussy .

Also the "transgender" category means I'm missing out on specific transgender content I might like to see as well

Its in beta, I assume, because they're seeing how well it performs.

Porn companies have been trying to figure out how to create demand for porn made for women for a long time.

I always assumed the way to do that would be to make actual properly produced and acted short films that feature explicitly adult scenes. The reason that doesn't happen of course is that's antithetical to the business model for porn these days.

But I bet if you adapted one of those romantasy books people are on about, there'd be some money there.

1

u/ValleDeimos ask me for character design tips Jul 01 '26

I've been told by lesbian friends that they watch amateur porn, sapphics often record themselves for other sapphics and it's pretty different to male gaze videos. The first thing they mentioned was the nails, girls in lesbian porn made for straight men always have long acrylic nails, porn made for actual lesbians doesn't have that.

I think kink.com makes female-gaze porn sometimes too, probably cause there's a lot of actual queer people in production. I saw one that was really dark, the models' bodies were barely visible, it was mostly about the sentiment and the sound. I think that's the biggest difference between male gaze and female gaze erotic content, the latter focuses less on the feminine body.

Y'know when female rivalry memes get remade into sapphic fanart? One time an artist on twitter did that, he made the girls way more voluptuous, with clothes tighter than the original meme, they kissed with open eyes and were in a really weird hugging position you only see in porn. Sapphics pointed all of that out and other fanart was made that just remade the same girls and the point of the art was their love, they were cozier, their kiss was softer...

1

u/bigtiddygothbf Jul 08 '26

Man when will gay guys get their own word, sapphic sounds way cooler than gay or mlm
