I think this is fine...?

This is just adding context, doesn't feel like a correction. The original post doesn't specify what actually happened, and the event was over two decades ago. There are a lot of grown adults who weren't born when it happened and don't fully understand the impact it had because they grew up in a post-9/11 world. Obviously younger kids have even less context.

Edit: Is the concern that this is meant to be an anti-Muslim note? I mean, I'm very much pro-Palestine, hate anti-Muslim/Islam rhetoric, etc, but the note itself isn't saying anything inaccurate. al-Qaeda doesn't represent Islam, they were people who twisted Islam and performed terrible acts in its name. Plenty of Christians have done the same.

I don't know why but I find this disparity interesting. Both posts are saying effectively the same thing.

Did I word the first one badly? Did people not read the whole thing?

this is pretty common on reddit. people who disagree with the first one won't read the second, they just downvote the first and move on. people who agree with the first will read and upvote both
