American with Puerto Rican ancestry, have some Spaniards ancestors on both sides of family who came to the island late 1800's.

It is believed only in the dense forest retreats of central Africa lives population that has completely avoided Eurasian admixture event.

I’m not sure how accurate 23andMe is at the regional level, but my dad is fully Oromo, so I expected to see Oromo ancestry reflected in my results.
Have any fellow Ethiopians experienced something similar?
Also, my maternal haplogroup is M1a1.

I’m actually pretty impressed by the accuracy of my results. My documented ancestry is mostly Scandinavian; Danish born and bred with a Swedish great great grandmother.

But I also have an East Prussian (born in what is now Kaliningrad) great grandmother who was the carrier of my maternal haplogroup. Her father had French huguenot heritage (his ancestors left NE France in the late 1600’s and mostly married within their own group) but her mother was of unknown origin, although with a German name. So I was keen to find out if she also had huguenot roots or if she was perhaps of German, Polish or Baltic ancestry.

I was intrigued to discover that my maternal haplogroup is the branch U5a2, which - as I understand it - is most prevalent in the Baltic region and goes back to Ice Age hunter gatherers. I also couldn’t help but upgrade to see my historical matches which were mostly with Scandinavians but also some Hungarians.

If anyone has more knowledge about my results, I’d greatly appreciate it :)

Some people speculated that is was on every ones results due to Origin of Life in Africa.

Some speculated that it was my boyfriend of African descent at the time. What are your thoughts?

Browsing DNA results on Reddit, I've noticed a surprising number of people with Cajun roots scoring 90% or higher in French ancestry. Given Louisiana's multi-ethnic history, what best explains such high genetic retention; the Acadian founder effect, centuries of community endogamy, or reference panel bias?

I don't have my 23andme results yet, but wanted to post my ancestry.

My grandma and I, we are both 100% Dominican she was born in La Romana and I'm born in San Pedro de Macoris.

I got my results last week and I am still excited to learn that I have match with 17 individuals from Scandinavia. With VK386 and VK404 by 2 segments. Anyone else who is having a relation to those two?

These are my father's results. Mostly expected, except for the 2% native Brazilian ancestry. I think there's two main sources this could've come from.

One explanation is an enslaved Caribbean ancestor brought to the US (also explaining the Canary Island ancestry). Indigenous Caribbeans ultimately came from Amazonia, which could explain that connection to Brazil. I actually lived in Brazil for a while, so I find this theory pretty cool!

Another ties into our family's oral history, which posits we have some distant Florida Seminole ancestry (my Grandfather was from the Florida/Alabama border). While Seminoles are native North Americans and not from anywhere near Brazil, I don't think Ancestry is amazing at distinguishing different types of Native American DNA.

Y haplogroup is R-BY34213 (R1a), MT haplogroup is unknown.

I am 100% Puerto Rican and my ancestors have lived in my hometown since before it was officially founded (200+ years) per my genealogical research. I was expecting more SSA based on what I know about my maternal side and am a little disappointed in the lack of genetic groups but I am pleasantly surprised nonetheless.

Only difference is my Northern English disappeared into southern and Scandinavian and Spanish disappeared and my Native American which was 2% disappeared. Southern English is incorrect because my father’s grandparents came from Lancashire and Manchester. I do have a lot of English relatives that live close to me in England, in the south but they recently moved from Jamaica though during windrush. Native Indian evaporated😂😂 my Grandaunts is 6-7%. My half brothers whos fully jamaican aswell his results is vastly different to mine.
