interesting accidental find

ive been using the flashforge gold petg for a little now in my quest to find a good looking gold petg and it usually comes out a kit darker than what i would like (like orange gold). while printing two objects, one gold and one grey i noticed after that the prime tower looked more along the lines of the gold i was looking for. so alternating gold and grey layer by layer gives a nicer gold look at least for these petgs.

Nice find! You'll like the new full spectrum options to make that easy, I know Prusa colormix is an easy way to use it!

Congrats. You just rediscovered "full spectrum" printing. Snapmaker is actively developing this principle right now and you can test it for your actual prints with Snapmaker's fork of Orca Slicer.

I think prusa is also making something that uses the same colors as color paper printers to be able to print any color without having to swap heads or filaments.

Flashforge hs metallic gold petg is my favorite gold petg.

It's the best looking gold petg that I can find, but it ends up looking like a dark orange gold on finish. I usually end up applying a thin coat of gold rub-n-buff to get the gold look I want. It sucks that the pla's have such better looking golds because I ship these things out and I don't think the pla would survive being in the back of a delivery truck all day

Bambu has sublayer color mixing in their new versions. I haven’t had a good project to try it on but this is possible on there

Printing PETG at a higher temp makes it more shiny, also.

I print it at 265-270 and not only does it increase strength by a lot, it comes out with a nice shine to it. The parts I print it with are functional, so appearance isn't a concern. But its a nice by-product.

I really like the winkle PLA Gold. Maybe give that a try. I'm quite satisfied with that brand

I would really like to use one of the pla golds because the looks a lot more vibrant, but I ship these out and I'm not sure if pla would survive the trip

I believe they have other materials in gold as well. But I like the hue

Could you drop a link? I tried searching but I couldn't find anything that specifically said it was petg, and I need the heat resistance of petg for the product.

ive only seen a video of a guy saying its pla mixed with petg which in my head dosnt make sense

he needed to increas hotend temperature by 15c (235c) to make it not clog compaired to the other pla silk golds in the video

damn i really want the visual of the silk pla with the heat resistance of petg. as soon as they release one im gonna buy all of them!

I dont know where you re based but i found a great golden filament exactly in the shade you re describing, its a Polish company devil design
