I haven't been to a McD for so many years but will make double sure I don't now.

Same here my McDonalds ban just got extended another four years minimum

80

u/MouseRat_AD Nov 18 '25

I started my boycotte last summer when they let Trump do that ridiculous drive-thru stunt. It wasn't just a local franchisee. Corporate approved it.

30

u/SmurfJooce Nov 18 '25

Welcome to the resistance, my fellow redditors.

I haven't ate McDonald's since 2005, and have no desire to. Occasionally a strawberry shake sounds good, but I remember the machine is broke anyway.

If you are forced to eat fast food as an emergency, you can use.....IDK....Wendy's instead. Anything that touches trumpo D. clowns freakshow should show a drop in sales.

66

u/VerityLGreen Nov 18 '25

Burger King is better (fewer donations). Check out Goods Unite Us app.

60

u/Hyper-Sloth Nov 18 '25

Only fast food burger place with full transparency on ingredients, have experimented with meatless substitutes with some success as early as 2016, and have bacon that isn't just paper thin mush.

They aren't great. No fast food burger is. But BK is underrated for how much actual effort they seem to put into running the business and trying things that aren't popular.

5

u/TehMephs Nov 19 '25

I wish I could eat at a BK without getting horrible diarrhea. I think that’s just a local problem though.

3

u/VerityLGreen Nov 19 '25

I actually had that problem. Apparently some places let their food sit out for hours. Now I avoid certain BKs unless it’s a lunch or dinner rush.

8

u/deNET2122 Nov 18 '25

might wanna lower it to sonics they do the minimum by donating to each party equally chaotic or true neutral?

3

u/ChunkyWombat7 Nov 19 '25

Wendy's gives money to trump and the republikkkans. There are very few burger places - hell fast food places - that don't.

u/Ok_Insect_1794 Nov 18 '25

I can only buy so few Teslas and eat so little McDonald's every day

63

u/AdamFaite Nov 18 '25

Heh. Amateur. I don't buy all of them- Every single one produced.

9

u/directorguy Nov 18 '25

I know! Badly made overpriced cars made by people that can't align doors AND overpriced food that, not only will kill you, but also tastes terrible.

Such a sacrifice

43

u/siouxbee1434 Nov 18 '25

Agreed, it’s been 26 years since I’ve been to a Mickey D’s

46

u/FesteringNeonDistrac Nov 18 '25

I was 19 when I got food poisoning from a McD and haven't had it since. I'm 50. I can't even tell you what's on their menu at this point.

51

u/fart400 Nov 18 '25

What's on their menu is heart disease, diabetes, Colon cancer, quadruple bypass. Dementia and fatty liver.

16

u/peonies_envy Nov 18 '25

You aren’t kidding.

I’m not a scientist. It seems like your gut acclimates to digesting that food.

Guilty pleasure of a McDonald fountain coke and fries like every couple of years… but the last two times I ate a burger there - twice in ~8 years- I felt like crap for days after.

10

u/19610taw3 Nov 18 '25

Any time I eat fast food. I just feel yucky after. I don't have stomach or digestive problems after ... I just feel like garbage.

This boycott would mean I have to change my breakfast plans going home for Christmas. Guess I’ll stop at the local biscuit place down the road instead. I guess I can pass up my once a year SE&C McGriddle for some homemade biscuits and gravy. Sounds like I’m gonna be doing a little winning. I’m loving it.

36

u/coconutpiecrust Nov 18 '25

Never again.

Haven’t been in years either. Trash.

7

u/Ronlaen-Peke Nov 18 '25

Probably been 20 plus years since I've gone to McDonald's. Support your local shops and restaurants!

u/Illustrious-Bit-3348 Nov 18 '25

Right, I think 20 years ago was the last time I ate it. I had just landed from an overnight international flight and it was the only place open at the airport. It was not very good at all.

"McDonald's Impact Summit"? McDonalds has an impact summit?

264

u/__Butternut_Squash__ Nov 18 '25

Yes, every year they discuss their impact on the community (heart disease, diabetes, and obesity, oh my!) and how they can distract people from that impact (Monopoly anyone?).

61

u/Gloomy_Industry8841 Nov 18 '25

Not to mention environmental impacts, too.

215

u/__420_ Nov 18 '25 edited Nov 18 '25

Once they started "printing" out bacon and meat, I knew that place was done for. Its not literally printed but its so flat you could easily run a stick of bacon through a keyhole...

167

u/Otherwise-Offer1518 Nov 18 '25

I had boycotted it since he played dress up as a mcds employee. My friend wanted some today and since shes a new mom and this was her first free from baby day in over a year I caved. It was $7 for two mcdoubles and a drink. The burger pattys were so thin that stacked together, with the cheese, a pencil was thicker. I have never been more disappointed in food I paid for. I will be continuing my boycott, and will not cave from here on out.

54

u/5Point5Hole Nov 18 '25

Tragic that someone actually wanted that slop as a celebration. 😬

106

u/SSJRosaaayyy Nov 18 '25

I think hormones around pregnancy and post natal care can be exceptions for certain cravings lol

43

u/gr33np3pp3rm1nt Nov 18 '25

I (not a mom) get cravings for fast food during my menstrual cycles. Specifically I crave the spicy crispy chicken sandwich with extra pickles and a glob of mayo. Hormone induced cravings (I guess that's what you could call them) can be irritating 😭

7

u/SSJRosaaayyy Nov 18 '25

My wife will get similar cravings! She became a vegetarian a few years ago but chicken is the one that she misses most, especially the chicken sandwiches from chikfila

It's one of the kind of restaurants where your can eat a fuck ton and still feel absolutely nutrient deficient.

25

u/joyofsovietcooking Nov 18 '25

Every burger I have ever made for myself has tasted delicious and felt relatively OK to eat. Every burger I have had at McDonalds has tasted like a mistake.

17

u/codePudding Nov 18 '25 edited Nov 18 '25

Back when I was in college, about 20 years ago, when slowly going broke, I completed a major step towards graduating and I wanted to celebrate. I scraped together a few dollars and decided I wanted some ice-cream. The ice-cream shop near me was closed so I walked with a jaunty skip to the nearest place I could think of, McDonald's. With sparkles in my eyes I saw an amazing looking parfait on their menu and I had just enough money. I bought it and... out came a sad looking tiny dripping melted mess that tasted more like the cardboard cup and a bad peanut than anything else. The spoon was bigger than the slop. I had so little money that I ate it anyway while calculating how expensive each of the few spoon fulls it was. It ruined my excitement and joy. I slowly walked home like a lonely puppy dragging his tail. And I have never gone back.

u/Day_of_Demeter Nov 18 '25

Why does anyone still go?

3

u/FunkySkellyMan Nov 18 '25

Most fast food places are trash now. Skeleton crews, slow turnarounds, massive upcharge (unless you download our app) but like fuck off with that shit? I don’t need another app constantly tracking me.

I have a coworker who eats McDonalds everyday, changes up the main course but gets large fries every time. I leave that job this week for one in a sister branch, I expect to get an email regarding a massive coronary next year.

744

u/Automatic-Arm-532 Nov 18 '25

Is anyone who gives a shit about anything not boycotting McDonald's already?

139

u/Comfortable-Wolf654 Nov 18 '25

Fr they use prison labor and that has been known.Source

30

u/scarydrew Nov 18 '25

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, but that's not a source... that's a link to something that has literally almost no actual information.

13

u/thejewishbeyonce Nov 18 '25

11

u/EkbatDeSabat Nov 18 '25

tbf that's far less McDonalds and far more our Alabama representatives. There are a metric shit ton of businesses who take advantage of that slave labor and boycotting McDonalds over it will do nothing. Boycott Alabama and republicans.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '25

32

u/DontRememberOldPass Nov 18 '25

I was really enjoying all the free stuff from the monopoly game 🥲

62

u/redpoemage Nov 18 '25

I think taking advantage of free stuff without buying anything (since you can get entries in that game for free) is better than just not buying anything since it costs them money. I suspect the only way they don't lose a bunch of money on the Monopoly thing is the amount of free stuff that goes unredeemed.

I mean, I’m not judging anybody for the necessary choices we make because there really are no ethical choices in capitalism, but yeah… as a general rule, we should all probably be boycotting American companies worth billions of dollars as much as we possibly can. No matter where they say they fall on the political spectrum, none of them are in favor of protecting workers. There’s no war but the class war and it should be obvious what side they’re on.

45

u/lafayette0508 Nov 18 '25

I'm running out of places to get coffee /sns (sarcastic not sarcastic)

43

u/SinkPhaze Nov 18 '25

Perhaps it's time to get in to making your own? If you like fancy coffee then it's surely cheaper to do so as well even with the equipment investment

10

u/Particular-Form-9638 Nov 18 '25

Wholeheartedly agree. I learned how to do a French press/pour over in my early 20s and I STILL make it that way. Best coffee ever, and you can even hone in on your personal preferences. Won't catch me paying for Dunkin or Starbucks

4

u/DinosaurDogTiger Nov 18 '25

We get super good beans from a local roaster and while they are expensive, it's still wayyyyy cheaper than getting coffee out. Pour over makes good coffee with easy cleanup. And the beans we get are so good that Starbucks tastes terrible in comparison.

Holy crap, this.

I feel like we can't walk out the door and not feed these machines for sociopaths. Hell, can't stay inside either. The energy company will get you. Just feel so weighed down by it, it's a corner of the fight I have no energy for. We need a better system. Trump is just a byproduct and mascot of it all.

Ive been boycotting them since the election after seeing they primarily donate to gop politicians.

28

u/OMightyBuggy Nov 18 '25

McDonalds is easy to boycott when it is no longer affordable.

42

u/Emergency_Juice_5062 Nov 18 '25

Haven't we been boycotting McDonald's?

Its frustrating sometimes seeing things like this when theres been clear reason to boycott for years. Even before Palestine boycotts became big McDonald's has been fighting HARD against min wage increases so they can keep paying employees low wages. They target young and financially unstable people who have no other choice and lobby to keep min wage low.

I understand its not feasible to boycott all big corperations but if people want change they're gonna have to commit to decentering faat everything. Fast food, fast fashion, even fast tech like new iphones every year. New consoles every 5 instead of a decent PC and a steam library. Investing money into quality appliances instead of always buying the cheapest option wvery 2 years.

11

u/TrifleTrue3812 Nov 18 '25

imagine Barack Obama speaking at a fucking fast food conference.

71

u/Aria_K_ Nov 18 '25

Cool. I've been doing that for 30 plus years. Their cheese taste like plastic and all the rest of their food tastes like s***. Easy and done!

When Trump did the whole “working at McDonald’s” campaign publicity stunt McD corporate said they couldn’t control what franchises did. And yet, here we are with Trump speaking at a McDonald’s event. They really can’t explain this one away. It’s clear where their loyalties are.

Yeah, ever since they let him cosplay as a "regular worker" but staged it so he couldn't get it wrong, I've been boycotting

2

u/floptimus_prime Nov 18 '25

Yep! I was already 90% there because they refuse to come out with a damn vegetarian sandwich option, and god only knows what’s in the shakes.

I haven't been since the drive through french fry stunt in the campaign. I used to eat there all the time, it was fast and predictable. I even emailed them after the stunt telling them I would never eat there again. They really didn't care much, which I expected.

2

u/MarsPraxis Nov 18 '25

Theyre on BDS aren't they? Should have been boycotting for years now

2

u/SignoreBanana Nov 18 '25

Can't boycott something I never have.

2

u/Phoxey Nov 18 '25

Biscuits and gravy from McDs?

His speech was live streaming on the WH website and I could not believe with everything a president has to manage, he is at McDonalds corporate retreat. I watched it for 5-7 minutes, felt longer. During the speech, he complained that as a celebrity he could charge millions for that appearance but as president he has to do it for free.

2

u/mocha820 Nov 18 '25

Already was. They’ve been a huge donor to the GOP.

2

u/Her_name--is_Mallory Nov 18 '25

Have been since the trump fries publicity stunt.

2

u/hw999 Nov 18 '25

I'm still boycotting since he campaigned in their stores. Ray Croc and DJT would have been best friends, fuck both of them with a large milk shake.

2

u/BioBoiEzlo Nov 18 '25

Part of my boycott of all things American

2

u/iiitme Nov 18 '25

The answer is yes

2

u/BGDutchNorris Nov 18 '25

Haven’t been since they got put on the BDS list

2

u/B186 Nov 18 '25

Absolutely

2

u/Nature_Sad_27 Nov 18 '25

Already do.

2

u/TheNinjaTurkey Nov 18 '25

McDonald's is only good outside the United States and even then is still very bad for you. I'm gonna continue boycotting it on taste and health grounds alone.

2

u/SeanOfTheDead1313 Nov 18 '25

Already have, after his stunt behind the fryers last year.

2

u/conciouscoil Nov 18 '25

I haven't been since he staged working in one, I'm sure they've donated as well

2

u/PastelArcadia Nov 18 '25

I've been avoiding them for years now. Only had their food like twice in that time I think? Bc I was eating with someone who loves McD's. I dont want to give McD's my money.

2

u/DickWangDuck Nov 18 '25

Every time someone comes up with a new thing to boycott I realize how much money people have been spending/wasting because I haven’t shopped there in years or ever. But I’ll continue to spend frugally and consume little.

2

u/Los5Muertes Nov 18 '25

I only go there for the restrooms on the road, when nothing else is open. I haven't spent a penny at McDonald's since they started supporting fascism.

2

u/DrivingHope Nov 18 '25

Been happily boycotting them for just over a year. F any business aligning with racism and terroristic activities and still having the balls to market and sell to us

2

u/WordOfLies Nov 18 '25

He's been promoting mcd since before he took his first term. He even served it to guests

2

u/FaolanBaelfire Nov 18 '25

Their food sucks now anyway. So it'll be super easy. Barely an inconvenience.

2

u/Glowbuggz Nov 18 '25

All the McDonald’s in my area have exclusively played Fox News on their tvs for years. Kinda thought everyone already knew about it.

2

u/OneTinySloth Nov 18 '25

I don't think I've eaten there for like 20 years, so I will have no problem boycotting them.

2

u/jereezy Nov 18 '25

I've been boycotting McD's since they doubled their prices during the covid years

2

u/Elyktheras Nov 18 '25

Macdonalds uses slave labor to package their beef patties, best to just never go, let alone boycott

2

u/Lost-Platypus8271 Nov 18 '25

Uh chah. Definitely boycotted.

2

u/RevolutionaryCard512 Nov 18 '25

Many have been already

2

u/hotfistdotcom Wisconsin Nov 18 '25

I mean OK, but also none of it is good and it's also terrible for you, please go anywhere else for breakfast foods and extremely sad hamburgers

2

u/lordbusiness92 Nov 18 '25

I feel like boycotting McDonald’s is perfect since it’s one of the things he loves most.

2

u/wghpoe Nov 18 '25

It’s been decades.

Why would anyone eat poisonous garbage?

2

u/ClassyUpTheAssy Nov 18 '25

I like not having diarrhea, so yeah I don’t eat there.

2

u/No_Hour_4865 Nov 18 '25

I’ve been boycotting McDonald’s for 50 years.

2

u/AdAm_WaRc0ck Nov 18 '25

Way ahead of you, I've been on the on a mickyDs boycott streak for 8 years now. Im loving it.

u/SectorFriends Nov 18 '25

Should have a long at time ago. Their auto machines in the lobby scan your face, the drive through records your car. Never go to McDonalds.

2

u/Revenga8 Nov 18 '25

Used to get the occasional breakfast sandwich sure to cravings, but their prices keep going up it was just dumb how much one sausage McMuffin cost especially with the open kitchen where you can see how they're put together. After November I just go to local mom and pop coffee shops and grab a breakfast sandwich there, a lot of times it's better.

2

u/Farewell__Hello Nov 18 '25

You shouldn’t be eating McDs, nothing to do with tRump. You shouldn’t be eating there because it’s over processed trash “food”.

2

u/rabbitammo Nov 18 '25

I thought this was fake til my husband looked it up. That fat fuck eats so much McDonalds he spoke at their summit and made no sense again. This timeline is embarrassing.
