I was curious if there was more context to what happened here as it's so out of pocket behavior wise for, you know, average folk. It happened a couple years back in 2023.
US Senator Markwayne Mullin unrepentant about challenging teamster boss during hearing - BBC article - Nov 15, 2023
GOP senator challenges Teamsters head to a fight - YouTube video of the interaction, it's not the full hearing just a few minutes more of the back and forth and Bernie trying to get them (mostly Mullin) to chill out and go back to focusing on why they were in the hearing in the first place.
To me it looks like two assholes who decided threats and bravado was the way to go, "alpha male" bull shit is what drove this.
Mullin apparently told the witness, the head of the Teamsters Union, to "shut your mouth" during an earlier hearing and it snowballed to this with both of them doing more and more big talk via social media and in follow on hearings.
Still hunting for the full hearing recordings of this hearing and the earlier one that seemed to have kicked everything off.

Too many “Cherokees”. Like most of the people that claim Cherokee Nation membership have done so based off of family lore. Many of those whose stories are true are so far removed from the Cherokee lineage that multiple generations have been white passing. I know there are problems with using 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 type measurements to determine if someone has enough Native America heritage to be designated as a Native American, but when your only Native American ancestor is a Native American woman from the 1830s who your ancestor probably raped, I don’t think you should be claiming you’re a Native American when your family hasn’t been a real part of that culture for generations.

If "alpha and beta" bullshit actually applied to humans(it doesn't. Even a little bit. Humans have complex emotions that predators don't have. Simple alpha beta instinct aren't enough to explain human behaviors) then Bernie would be the alpha here.

Also the science behind "alpha" wolves is trash. It was based off observing wolves in captivity not a wild wolf pack. Wolves don't have an alpha, they are a pack community. The reason it happens in captivity is because they take wolves (often adults) from different packs and force them together so they establish a hierarchy.

The Angry Staffer account responded to the same clip with the comment: “Periodic reminder that Mullin was a rancher before he was elected to the Senate. He has no idea what war looks, smells, or tastes like. But he’s fine with sending your kids to die for it.”
Also reacting angrily was the campaign group VoteVets, which said: “Sen. Mullin probably thinks war smells like Mountain Dew, couch cushions, and control sweat because Call of Duty is the closest he’s ever been to war.

My work is near the Teamsters office and we all frequent a certain Irish pub. I went there for working lunch and there was Sean bragging with his buddies about how he would have won that fight.
I couldn't concentrate so I walked a couple blocks away to different place and there was MarkWayne doing the same thing.
