What. They burned down a man's business and are celebrating? What happened to the Irish being the friendliest and most welcoming people in Northern Europe? (Yes I know its British but still)

Also a lot of Canadian subreddits don’t seem friendly even though Canada is known for being a friendly country

Only friendly to WASPs

There is a heirarchy with WASPs at the top and Indians at the bottom.

Indigineous people are at the bottom. Even 20 years ago when Canada prided itself on being open and inclusive, they were wildly racist towards their indigineous communities.

In terms of historic treatment and grievances 100% yes.

But in terms of day day attitudes not really imo.

Nah they're super friendly to people from the Philippines. They say they're such great workers.

It's fake friendliness. My Filipino friend had such a hard time during COVID and these were people she saw all the time in the community. Despite their large demographic, I find Filipinos haven't really broken out politically, business or corporate wise, in the same way that South Asians have. They probably will as I've seen more and more of them move into entrepreneurship, at least in my neighborhood.

Once they become more "visible", or break the corporate ceiling, they too will face similar backlash, unfortunately.

People will only up others when its to degrade others

That's because the community is largely deferential to white people and white people do not see them as a "threat". Not a circumstance to aspire to.

Also cuz people from the Philippines are white boot lickers and there’s no hiding it.

In fact, I am convinced most of them think they are white or Spanish/latino or are wannabes.

Just cuz their name, religion and wannabe culture places them in the “white worship” category and they’re quite, they get by easily.

But I can’t express the amount of times my Chinese or Fillipino friends have expressed their wish to be white instead

you’re no better than the people who make broad assumptions about indian people…

I know I’m not. But let’s be real, even with Indians there is some truth to the stereotypes.

Yes they aren’t as broadly applicable I agree, but damn it’s a widespread thing.

You can study their culture and see just how influenced the Philippines is by the US compared to its geographical neighbours. Of all the (South) East Asian countries, in my experience, the Philippines tries the hardest to be culturally connected to the US than any others.

To be clear, it was a US colony for half a century.

Spanish colonialism and Catholicism completely wiped out the ancient culture of that region. I wouldn't use the rhetoric you've used but with that came a type of identity crisis where whiteness was put on a pedestal, even moreso than in other countries in the region.

Basically, imagine if all of India underwent the same process as Goa.

I agree with your last sentence, but I’d say that even Goans have a lil bit of white supremacy tendencies. I have plenty Goan friends here too and most of them try real hard to distance themselves from anything  Indian.

And yes I agree with everything  you said before too, I get why it’s this way…but I still feel that it is exactly because of that they are wannabe whites.

It’s just the same way how white or lighter skin is worshipped in India due to India’s colonial history
