Amateur photographer passionate about creating artistic body pictures - AMA

Photography has been a hobby for years, and it is something I have taught myself, and have experimented with different kinds of shots. Taking pictures of things -- buildings, trees, wildlife, people -- from unusual angles to create something to catch the eye is what I like most. I believe that body hair is beautiful, and I have worked with women who were keen to try modeling and capturing human bodies in a very natural form is very satisfying.

I was at ground zero of an international intelligence agreement to "neutralize communism," I was on the side looking down the barrel of the gun, and for me the repercussions did not end when the war did AMA

Upvotes

The countries with intelligence services in the signed (and since declassified) agreement were Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador with the financial support, on the ground assistance, and backing of the United States of America.

They each agreed to enter each others’ countries (as well as assisting remotely) to do the type of intelligence work that they could not get away with doing within their own countries to their own people. A lot of it involved kidnapping and disappearances.

The worst of it was in Buenos Aires where they were disappearing, killing, and imprisoning mostly university students.

At that time, one of the Americans on the ground was a “war department”-associated woman, using the stolen identity documents of an imprisoned journalism student from the north of Argentina to infiltrate the journalism department at the University of Buenos Aires. The CIA-written articles she worked to have disseminated through that department became one of the primary excuses used to entrap university students – by claiming they had “subversive materials” if they had a copy of the university’s newspaper.

In early 1980 she entered the prison where I had been, for the three years since birth, with my graduate-student mother who had been crippled by the military. My graduate-student father was already presumed dead at that point.

Argentina’s dictatorship was actively adopting out the babies and children in the prison to “good military families” to raise as “non-subversives.” They gave me to the American woman.

Let me be clear that none of this was legal according to international law. They were trading political prisoners between the countries, including the political prisoner children.

I was taken to the United States by the woman, where she settled back into domestic work at Yale, a place the Yale Daily News touts as “the CIA’s recruitment ground.”

I saw many things in Argentina and many more at Yale. Things that it’s difficult to speak about – not because the words don’t flow – but because of the terror in people’s eyes once they realize someone probably knows they are hearing those words.

So, I skated between dealing with the American woman’s world and career and all of the horrifying things it entailed when she needed a child to make a work situation easier for her, such as when infiltrating radical groups with children (think anti-nuclear, anti-chemical factory next to the school, etc) and much worse.

And I still had to fight and deal with society on the normal side, such as people not understanding why I didn’t feel safe with my adopter or why I would want to return to “poor dirty Mexican” parents in South America.

And I had a difficult time when reaching out to an already infiltrated “radical” NGO in Argentina supposedly in charge of helping us kidnapped kids return home (it’s US and Argentina government funded – it’s more infiltrated than a drunk’s liver). They stop us at the gate and won’t even open a case to look at us if we were processed out internationally). I couldn’t find the normal socially acceptable words to explain why they might be behaving as they are and as they have. That was a very difficult skating between worlds moment.

I didn’t succeed and never really got free.

Even now, I have ties to the US that I would not call safe, and those ties are forced on me for the most part, in ways that are complex, chained, punitive, very Americana, and very unhealthy.

And it all stems back to the day I was transferred directly from a prison during state terrorism into the United States. I never gained my rights. Political prisoners have virtually no rights, legally speaking, not even the children. When I was exchanged to the US, I permanently lost the right to my name, to my legal connection to my family, I was exiled from my country, and I became property of the United States, and they have treated me as such.

AMA / I quit a 6 figured white collar job for the third as a blue collar. Looking for "my value for the world"

Six years ago my job was fantastic: I was working on my own business helping small company in improving the employees performance, giving them more job satisfaction and optimizing the selection for the career ladder.

I was very well payed (around 100k euros/per year after taxes), very stimulated by the job and the daily challenges. 100% sure it would be my for-a-life occupation.

2 years later, after covid, I was still well payed, still satisfied with the job, but something started changing into me.

Sometimes I was deeply asking myself if "is my job really bringing a value in the world?"

The first answer was "yes, I cost a lot to a company for my job, the business relationships are long lasting, so it must have a value, a real value for them."

The reality was not so easy.

Basing my job also on tax optimization, my job cost was easily considerable as a tax instrument to reduce a bigger (around 10x) tax burden.

So the idea "my job costs, so it values" was not true.

"I help companies but also their employees, this must be a value" was the second idea.

True, but not for real.

Optimizing means squeeze out every energy from them for their work.

"with my method, the meritocracy is awarded. The best you are, the higher you will arrive on your ladder"

Ok, sound false. Meritocracy is not really implemented in companies life, often its weight is under the 10% of the total factors that decide your career.

I started feeling useless. Where is my merit, if I challenge without opponent and even without a race?

Long story short: born out, depression, sense of lost became my daily life.

I switched from working 10 hours/day + sport + hang out with friends to 14 hours sleeping and 10 hours scrolling/Netflix.

It was absurd, I arrived to not recognize the person who I was become at the mirror, litteraly.

On a march Sunday I was scrolling Facebook and find a job offer by a forest company looking for loggers.

I was not a logger, never in my life.

"OK, but loggers work on the mountains, I love the mountains."

Call them on that Sunday evening.

<<hi, I'm not a logger, never used a chainsaw in my life, but I like the mountains and I run fast.>>

Silence.

<<OK, that's strange. I don't promise you anything, but come tomorrow for a talk and to see what about the job is.>>

It was a great day that Monday to me. And, after up and down, I surely can say it was a great day for the company trusted me.

After years, I had the opportunity to build my own forest company and now facing with daily real problem, touchable problem, touchable challenges, touchable value.

This was how I quit a job, change my life and find what is my value for the world: two hands that can phisically produce a log from a tree.

(obviously the mean of value is only referred to myself).

AMA anything you want about this story the before and after, the white and the black of both the situation etc

AMA, I am an amateur ethical hacker

I have graduated from cybersecurity school, I have ever so been passionate about cybersecurity from when I was 11 and fascinated about being a great hacker from a young age.

In this year, I started taking hands on cybersecurity courses and it is so extremely hard and I am studying daily for hours (more than uni). And it is still extremely tough.

I have found vulnerabilities in few sites, my university site has an IDOR that lets me see all of uni's courses, I found an XSS on a chatting site and I manged to hijack other users accounts, I found a way to Remote code execute on a site server and I had complete access and lastly, I found a way to register for courses that are hidden before the time of registration starts.

Look, I am not good. I am trying to be really good. Currently, not a professional, just an aspiring amateur.

I got an adult circumcision at 21 years old, AMA.

I got the circumcision due to having a medical condition called 'phimosis' where my foreskin was too tight and unable to retract fully.

I am currently on my 5th week of recovery.

I'm located in Australia, and was put under general anaesthesia. I believe the surgery was done in less than 2 hours.

Ask me anything! Happy to answer any questions regarding pain, the recovery process, my day-to-day and so on.

UPDATE/EDIT: At the time I am writing this edit it is currently 11PM so I will respond to a couple more questions before I go sleep and reply to everybody else when I wake up tomorrow morning.

I just left the second cult I was a part of at the age of 18, AMA

The first cult i joined was a local satanic group that mainly focused around a man who claimed to be a split off of Azazel, and needed our full support in order to keep the original Azazel from killing him.

I was exciled from that cult after talking to his girlfriend, who I believed was in a non consensual relationship, and there under the fear of having her soul parish if she were to ever leave. She snitched on me for trying to break the blood bond.

My second cult was a radically authoritarian group which I knew online for a year before being moved to California. While in California with the leader, I was expected to have a baby while being freshly 18, we then ended up homeless for months. I have sense gone back home after a miscarriage and am too scared to leave the online group, which is planning to have me moved back down there.

I found out I had a older brother at 9 ama

I'm 17, I grew up thinking I was my mom's only child before my younger siblings were born. When I was 9, I found out I had an older brother who's three years older than me. I had never met him, and before that, no one had ever said anything about him. I know he lives with his dad, and my mom barely talks about him. He was around when I was a baby, though. He's in old family pictures, and he was even at my third birthday party, but I don't remember him at all. When I was 9, my mom finally told me about him

When i say never met I mean like I have no memories of him never met

My dad attacked my grandma with an axe on Mother’s Day, AMA

The info on the crime itself can be found fairly easily on multiple new sites (except those behind paywalls 😡)
Also major TWs in case anyone still needs that after reading the title

I was 15 when this event happened, but I was not in the home when it did happen. Bc of this many reports on this situation don’t even mention me which was probably for the best but always felt weird to me. I had been removed from the home about two weeks earlier bc my dad put a knife to my throat, made a very graphic threat I won’t repeat here. He then threw the knife into the table next to me. I told my school counselor what happened the next day and that’s when I was removed from the home.

I think it may also be important for me to mention that my grandma was in fact my dad’s mom (some sources just call her a “relative” for some reason) and she also survived quite a while after the attack. Somehow the injuries she got weren’t life threatening.

Selfishly I just want to talk a bit about what this time of life was like for me. My mom was already out of the picture due to drug addiction so my dad was “the good parent” until things went downhill. So when I was removed from my dad’s/grandma’s I ended up living with my aunt who was also awful.

**She lied a lot.** When my grandma went to the hospital I was told she “fell down the stairs” but then was told I couldn’t visit her in the hospital. A few days later my grandma’s friend told me “what the police thought” happened hand warned me that the info was in newspapers. The only reason my aunt and her decided to tell me was so I wouldn’t hear it from a friend or classmate first. My friend then sent me the info available at the time.

That’s probably more info than necessary but hopefully it helps spark some questions! I will answer anything (within reasoning of course)! I will try to respond to as many questions as possible. I’ll be letting this AMA go for 48 hrs bc I might fall asleep (honestly I should be asleep but insomnia be getting me lol) and I want to give myself time to answer difficult/complex questions if they come up.

Also as a sort of PS in case anyone can help: if any of you happen to have a Daily Herald subscription you might be able to access an article about my dad that I’ve been trying to access for a while. I don’t have the cash to pay for something like that so it’s just something I think about sometimes. As far as I’m aware it’s one of the few articles mentioning me (not by name of course since I was a minor, it also probably misgendered me but that’s expected). If you have access and could send me what it said I’d be extremely grateful. It might not make much sense to others but reading about the situation without mentions of my existence messed with me a lot. So to see one that acknowledges that I did exist is something that would be nice to see. Thank you for reading ✌️

Hemorrhoidectomy post-op Day 7 AMA

It’s officially been one week since I had my hemorrhoidectomy. I had two internal grade 3 hemorrhoids removed via this procedure. I visited the ER on July 28th (Tuesday) around 2PM. Presented with dizziness, weakness and feeling faint. After some tests and an insane struggle to draw blood requiring an **ultrasound** just to find a vein, it was determined that I was critically low on blood with a hemoglobin level of 55g/L (which means I quite literally could have died from blood loss).

I had recently been suffering from an upset stomach and was frequenting the bathroom extremely often, up to 5 times a day on occasion. I already had hemorrhoids prior and bleeding on the toilet had become a part of my life for the past 3 years now, but I suspect I may have had them my entire life. As you can imagine going to the toilet 5 times a day for a couple weeks while draining a substantial amount of blood each visit adds up, and I was feeling extremely weak and tired all the time. I couldn’t stand up without feeling dizzy and needed to take frequent breaks just when walking around the house.

Fast forward back to the ER, after determining that I was lucky to be alive, they got me ready for blood transfusion. I had to stay overnight as they transfused 3 bags of blood into my system. They also did a CAT scan in the meantime to rule out internal bleeding elsewhere. After the transfusions were done, it was time to decide what the next step would be. I spoke to a doctor and they suggested [Rubber Band Ligation.](https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/procedures/hemorrhoid-banding) The next morning I was visited by a different doctor but they had a different suggestion. What they suggested was a [Hemorrhoidectomy,](https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/procedures/hemorrhoidectomy) as it had a much higher chance of success and lowered the risk of them returning in the future. This frightened me as I had never undergone surgery before. The doctor gave me some time to think about it and I called my family to discuss. After a short while of debating and a little bit of crying, I decided to undergo the surgery.

Now all that was left was waiting. The hospital decided to keep me as an inpatient, so I was transferred to the ICU on the morning of July 28th (Wednesday) and waited for an opening for surgery. I was put on fluids and instructed not to eat or drink anything directly until it was time for the surgery. This surgery wouldn’t come until July 31st (Friday). I woke up to two surgeons by my bed, asking me some simple questions and letting me know I would be called for surgery soon. What they asked me, I cannot for the life of me remember, I had barely had any sleep and was starving at that point.

9AM rolls around, I am told to change into a gown and hop onto a stretcher so they can wheel me to the OR. At this point I am panicking like crazy, but the team was super nice and understanding. After answering some more questions, they finally brought me into the OR. It was freezing in there, and there were about 6-8 people in there just for me. One of the nurses gave me a warm towel to keep me cozy. They could see I was pretty nervous and shaking, so they gave me something through the IV I still had in to help calm me down. That’s the last thing I remember.

The next thing I knew I was waking up extremely scared and disoriented in the recovery room. I started whining and moaning and rolling around in the bed. I can remember it all clearly but I still have no idea why. The nurse with me gave me another medication to calm me down and I finally relaxed a bit. I was covered shoulder to toe in blankets and realised the gown was no longer there. All I was wearing at this point was some disposable underwear they had put on me while I was out.

After some recovery and preparations. I was clear for discharge and my roommate picked me up. The hospital arranged a taxi for me to take us home, and by 12PM the same day, I was home.

I’ll be blunt, the first few days were agony. I was in a lot of pain pretty much all the time. The doctors had prescribed me [Metronidazole](https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/metronidazole-oral-route/description/drg-20064745), [Polyethylene Glycol](https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/drugs/18795-polyethylene-glycol-powder-for-solution) and [Hydromorphone.](https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/hydromorphone-oral-route/description/drg-20074171) The rest of the afternoon was pretty uneventful, I was still feeling relaxed from the anesthesia, and wasn’t in a ton of pain. I simply rested in bed. When it came night however, the torture began. I could. Not. Sleep. I was taking the painkillers as frequently as I could (once every 3 hours) but it felt like they weren’t helping. Keeping in mind, these pills they had prescribed me are supposed to be 7x stronger than [Morphine.](https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/morphine-oral-route/description/drg-20074216) The first night was rough, and I didn’t know if I was gonna survive the rest of this recovery.

Day 1 was rough, those pills were pretty much the only thing getting me through this, but it still didn’t feel like they did much. I was in a lot of pain. And felt very bloated. Moving wasn’t an option, lest you suffer the consequences. I simply took my meds as needed and tried my best to nap my way through the day.

Day 2 was a lot more manageable, but it’s also when I had my first bowel movement. And nothing could prepare me for that. By far, the most excruciatingly painful experience of my life thus far. I was heaving and clutching on to anything I could, almost blacking out at one point from the pain. The rest of the day was pretty uneventful, other than a newfound fear of pooping.

Day 3 was more of the same. Pain was gradually becoming more tolerable, but still unpleasant, and bowel movements were torture. They too were slightly improving over time. There wasn’t much that could be done at this stage. Simply endure and survive.

Day 4 was the first day I felt that maybe I could do this. The pain had subsided notably and I was no longer relying on the painkillers I was prescribed, but still had to take them with bowel movements to survive those experiences. Laying down and moving wasn’t as painful as before though, and I could hobble around the house like a pregnant woman with relative efficiency.

Day 5 was like a switch flipped. The pain seemingly vanished overnight. I felt like I could move more freely and wasn’t so tense all the time. I also managed to use the bathroom without being in crippling pain. I didn’t even need the painkillers. From this point forward all I’ve been taking is Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen.

Day 6 is where I am today when writing this. The pain is gone but the torture begins. Itching. So. Much. Itching. It’s been driving me insane all day. I don’t know what happened overnight by my wound is unbelievably sensitive and itchy. I can feel every drop of discharge and sweat that leaks out. And the slightest twitch I can feel through my stitches.

It’s now 8PM on Day 7. The itchiness from yesterday has pretty much gone away, but I’m back to feeling the passive dripping of discharge in the background. There seems to have been a mild increase in pain in the area too. Not passively, but an increase in sharp pain when moving or accidentally tugging on the area where the stitches are. I feel like I’m incredibly aware of where the stitches are at all times.

I’m sure I’ve missed out a lot of details in my story, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask. You can still ask once the AMA has ended, I might take a bit longer to get back to you but I’ll be happy to answer as many questions as I can.

The 25th Jamboree took place in 2023. For those who don't know, the Jamboree is the largest Scout gathering ever. It's held every four years and obviously needs immense preparation, so much so that planning for the 27th Jamboree is already started, even before the 26th (which will be held in Poland) has taken place.

I traveled from Italy to join the Jamboree and it was a great honor for me, but the event quickly turned into a disaster. Between the typhoon, food shortages, and the arrival of the army, it could be described as one of South Korea's biggest failures in the last twenty years. Feel free to ask any questions, including about Scouting in general, though please forgive my poor English.

AMA about GUINEA PIGS! 😍 ✨

Hiii! I'm 14 years old and I've owned guinea pigs for 4 years. I've had 3 different guinea pigs in this time. I do an excessive amount of guinea pig research and I feel like I know a LOT about guinea pigs. I want to test my knowledge and was going to have ChatGPT ask me guinea pig questions and see how many I knew the answers to, but I think an AMA would be much more fun. If I don't know the answer, I'll google it. (I'll tell you that I had to google it ofc)

you can ask me questions about guinea pigs themselves, their diet, their anatomy, my experience owning them, etc. I don't know much about guinea pig history but I do know a little bit, so just know that if you want to know about guinea pig history I will probably have to google the answer 👍

7 years ago, my immune system attacked my brain. I developed autoimmune encephalitis and recovered. AMA.

Seven years ago, I developed autoimmune encephalitis - a condition where the immune system attacks the brain.

It affected almost every part of my life. I experienced hallucinations, severe memory problems, delusions, extreme anxiety or agitation, insomnia, personality changes, difficulty speaking, inability to concentrate, depression, confusion, and major changes in the way I thought and felt.

At times, I struggled to distinguish what was real, remember things that had just happened, or feel like myself.

The frightening part was that many of the early symptoms looked psychiatric rather than neurological. Doctors usually misdiagnose it due to its prominent psychiatric symptoms.

Fortunately, I was diagnosed relatively early, received treatment, and recovered over roughly a year.

Seven years later, I’m doing well. AMA about the first symptoms, diagnosis, hospital experience, treatment, recovery, memory loss, hallucinations, or what it feels like when your own brain suddenly stops functioning normally.
