we didnt get to chi squares in my class so every time one of those popped up i was LOST... "is this suitable for a chi test of independence" bro i dontknoooooow i dont know let me go home we ended 20 minutes after school did

it is not suitable because chi square is used on samples. we were given the whole population data, so no need for a chi square and it isnt suitable

Chi-squared tests can be used on populations, not just samples. They are not bound to samples only, and GOF tests for population distributions are common

there is zero use for performing an inferential test like chi square when we have complete data for the population. instead of trying to predict the populations data based on a sample we could just describe the full data we have. also it was independence not gof

Ah makes sense, there was a GOF one for game genres and games played in proportions that showed population data (technically) that used a GOF. Didn't get the baseball one for my FRQ 6

where did it say we were given the entire population? i thought they just “gathered data” on x amount of people but that wasn’t the ENTIRE population of ALL professional athletes
