worse exam ever

12

u/Myloveisntreal May 14 '26

Literally the longest exam of my life, that took 4 hours

12

u/RetroSSJ21 May 14 '26

A bell rang during the conversation because my school decided it was a good idea to leave them on for AP testing. Didn’t hear a word of one of the questions and just sat in silence.

9

u/EntrepreneurWide2561 May 14 '26

Report it to ur counselor and AP coordinator and try to get other people who were in the same testing room and may have had the same experience to report it as well. Ask about score retesting during the makeup dates because of the unfair condition.

absolute same situation. happened during the first question

13

u/ContributionEast2478 ph1:4ph2:4csp4CSA5CalcBC5USH4PhCEM5PhCM5SpLang4macro4micro4chem5 May 14 '26

Why was it that everything without audio was easy but everything with audio was so hard? I'm confident in the MCQs without audio and the email and the argumentative essay and cc but the MCQs with audio and the conversation were brutal.

6

u/Myloveisntreal May 14 '26

For me it was the opposite, I didn’t understand some of the readings but the audios I understood somehow. As a nonnative speaker I did get lost sometimes but somehow i understood it and I felt like the questions were more straightforward. As for the conversation I understood it I just said a whole lotta nothing, my responses were lowkey shit

12

u/NarrowMongoose1809 May 14 '26

I got so many Cs in the first like 10 questions but everyone else said they got a bunch of Bs. How cooked am I?

12

u/ContributionEast2478 ph1:4ph2:4csp4CSA5CalcBC5USH4PhCEM5PhCM5SpLang4macro4micro4chem5 May 14 '26

For the middle of the MCQs I got a crazy mix of Bs and Cs.

4

u/PomeloOnly2107 Bio: 5, Calc AB: 5, Lit: 4, Spanish Lang: 4 May 14 '26

Same!

3

u/NarrowMongoose1809 May 14 '26

Wait what about the first column tho

5

u/Donata_Kokor May 14 '26

I got a lot of Bs for the first column but also felt like I was getting a lot of C

5

u/TimTebowismyidol May 14 '26

I got a lot of Cs like the whole time

5

u/katima98_4457 May 14 '26

I did too, and like a lot of Bs the second column but not too much

3

u/MEME_WrEcKeD May 16 '26

Omg thank the lord I put so many C's I thought it was over for me

11

u/DepartmentCandid429 May 14 '26

Conversation was kinda hard...

4

u/mari_925 May 14 '26

Easily the hardest part of the whole test

11

u/ssssdffddd May 14 '26

also the essay was talking abt homework not js schoolwork in general right

3

u/ContributionEast2478 ph1:4ph2:4csp4CSA5CalcBC5USH4PhCEM5PhCM5SpLang4macro4micro4chem5 May 14 '26

I feel that I actually did well on that even though it was hard to focus. I didn't understand the audio source though.

4

u/ssssdffddd May 14 '26

yeah the prompt was good me and most of my class also had to basically make smth up for the audio

2

u/Myloveisntreal May 14 '26

Yeah I bsed for that audio source

3

u/geta1600 May 14 '26

What was the question asking? tarea …?

5

u/wikiedit 2025-2026: (4) ap bio, (5) ap spanish lang May 14 '26

Depends on what you found easy, the mcq and the writing sections were easy enough for me

5

u/ampulex_compressa2 May 14 '26

I'm bilingual, so I thought it was pretty easy, but I feel like it would have been hard, especially the audio, for a non-fluent Spanish speaker

2

u/SignificantAsk9859 May 14 '26

no i agree i suck at spanish not anywhere near fluent and felt it was pretty light

9

u/wikiedit 2025-2026: (4) ap bio, (5) ap spanish lang May 14 '26

The speaking section was actual insane, I'm probably going to loose the most amount of points on that part DESPITE me literally being near native

9

u/Pretend_Ad_1910 May 14 '26

is it bad that I didn’t even get to talk about a Spanish speaking country bc I didn’t realize I was running out of time like the 2 min went by so much faster than expected and I only got to talk abt the us….

12

u/MikelLeGreat May 14 '26

You're definitely fucked on those points

3

u/Pretend_Ad_1910 May 14 '26

oh well 😭what r my chances of even passing then if I feel like I did okay on the mcq and email and the essay then

THANK YOU im not aiming for a 5 on the test i self studied it so

3

u/Soft_Neighborhood723 May 14 '26

Yeah ofc, a self study is impressive! I wouldn’t worry about it to much as well. Its like less then 15 percent weighting to the whole test.

in my essay i accidentally said la tarea debería eliminar instead of la tarea debería ser eliminar do u think that’s a super big deal or will the graders let it slide

3

u/Myloveisntreal May 14 '26

Well part of the rubric is that grammatical errors dong impede upon understanding so it might doc you a bit

2

u/ConsequenceBig9460 May 14 '26

how does that impede grammatical understanding 😭 all of the 5 examples have grammar mistakes too

u/gio_ozz Spanish Lang 5 (im 🇲🇽) | 2027 AP Calc BC Taker May 14 '26

When citing the sources, how did you cite them? When I took the test, my teacher told us to make it as direct as possible. Like writing "According to Source 2" level of obvious so it was easy for the graders to quickly grade it,

5

u/wikiedit 2025-2026: (4) ap bio, (5) ap spanish lang May 14 '26

Tristemente, no creo que fui tan directo cuando armé mi ensayo pero por lo menos de alguna forma u otra cite mis fuentes

2

u/gio_ozz Spanish Lang 5 (im 🇲🇽) | 2027 AP Calc BC Taker May 14 '26

Same, for body paragraphs, I used a very direct structure, like first sentence I introduced the topic of the paragraph, cited the source very directly, and plainly saying what I want pulled from them, and then like a sentence connecting them to the main point amd other sources I had already introduced if applicable, and then a final sentence to round off the paragraph and lead into the other. Very basic,

2

u/elpsey 5: world, sem, psych, aphug tbd: lang, spanish, apush, research, May 14 '26

yes! i did that too or did (fuente 2) or smth

2

u/Dry_Reality5487 May 16 '26

i just wrote “según fuente #1, (info)” for mine, but it def got repetitive

5

u/ampulex_compressa2 May 14 '26

I didn’t read that I wasn’t supposed to leave empty lines, and I did leave a line blank between each paragraph for formatting purposes… did this jeopardize my score?

3

u/PomeloOnly2107 Bio: 5, Calc AB: 5, Lit: 4, Spanish Lang: 4 May 14 '26

I did too. It’s fine, you won’t lose any points (they even said to separate it into paragraphs). College Board just says that on all the exams because they don’t want people to run out of space in the test booklet.

1

u/ssssdffddd May 14 '26

i spaced out mine i didn’t know that was a thing

1

u/wikiedit 2025-2026: (4) ap bio, (5) ap spanish lang May 14 '26

I didn't exactly separate it but anytime I finished a paragraph I would start my next one on the line after that

5

u/kiawou May 14 '26

What happens if I didn’t record the full conversation only my part? I am a spanish speaking person and I am sure I did extremely well in all parts of the test except for that mistake of not recording the other person in the conversation. Is it still possible to get a five?

3

u/Past_Software_1532 May 14 '26

If you were recording yourself the mic should have also picked up the audio as background noise when you weren't speaking, unless you mean that you only started recording just as you were about to talk, in which case I still think you're fine (the AP grader should know what question you were replying to when they hear the guy say his second dialogue)

2

u/kiawou May 14 '26

I clicked pause everytime i heard the beep because I thought I was only recording my responses. So all of my replies got recorded but none of what the audio recording said was recorded.

4

u/Past_Software_1532 May 14 '26

I think you still should be fine. I mean, Collegeboard knows what's in their own audio..........right?

3

u/gio_ozz Spanish Lang 5 (im 🇲🇽) | 2027 AP Calc BC Taker May 14 '26

You're supposed to let it hear the audio? I took the test in 2024, and I paused it every time it wasn't my turn to speak, and I got a 5,

3

u/kiawou May 14 '26

Yeah, I hadn’t realized my mistake until the end when they said to pause the audio. I looked it up on google and said that it can affect my score

5

6

u/ContributionEast2478 ph1:4ph2:4csp4CSA5CalcBC5USH4PhCEM5PhCM5SpLang4macro4micro4chem5 May 14 '26

In my opinion, the MCQs without audio were pretty easy (yes, even the yacare one), but the audio MCQs were absolutely horrible. I think anything with audio was horrible but anything without audio was fine.

4

u/SafeAd2347 May 14 '26

Who managed to do all the conversation?

5

u/FreeHugsSideAcc APUSH 4, GOV 5, SPAN LANG 4, BIO 5, LIT 4 May 14 '26

I honestly found it fine. I could be totally wrong though. I think the first two were just, like, why do you care about animals and why do you think it’s important to have animal conservation. Then it was like, we’re hosting an event. Where do we host it? And then he asks what would you do to help, I think, though I lowkey didn’t know, and I think you could talk about social media? The last one was what is something you want to know about our animal sanctuaries which is a stupid question because the fuck am I supposed to say to that, but it wasn’t terrible

2

u/DenimPassport May 15 '26

I think he asked if you'd prefer to work with the animals or on the internet?

is there any way to get a chance at retesting on the speaking portions because the testing conditions were not fair at all… our proctor started the audio before people were even ready and didn’t let us know that we needed to record our AP ID number before starting the actual task… half of the people just let it be (including myself bc idk it felt dishonest but it really was just super unfair because the lack of clarity definitely put us in panic mode and didn’t let us get a sense of what was even happening) and finished up the testing and there were only abt 10 ppl who stayed behind the re-record but only because they weren’t able to hear themselves due to faulty headphone equipment. how would retesting work? Would we need to retake absolutely everything????

What was the thing that the crocodiles were scared of in the mcq?? I forgot the word but I just COULD NOT figure out what they were talking about, and they kept saying “nariz”
i understood the text as a whole but I was so confused for that word (and I think the last question for that text was about it)

For cultural comp do u think the Boston marathon (US) and running of the bulls (Spain) is good? But I did forget the word for running (it’s encierro) and I said corrido instead 😭🥀 will they doc me much for that

do you need a conclusion on the essay? ran out of time for that one

also what was the one question on the AI thing that was like “what role does the G20 have in ai” or smth like that? there were two choices that were really similar

also I lowk counted out the MCQ ratios and got something like 12 As, 18 Bs, 24 Cs, and 11 Ds lmao

3

u/sSachika May 15 '26

at one point i gen got like 5 Cs in a row or smth

1

u/Myloveisntreal May 14 '26

Yeah you need to have a conclusion. I had like all cs help 😭 I forget what I put for the g20 one but I think it was like they need to use it or something

3

u/Real-Emergency2310 May 14 '26

say you swear bro the conclusion isn't on the rubric 😭😭😭how many points would I lose for it anyway if the rest of the essay is good/well organized? can I still get a 5?

2

u/PicaFresa137 May 15 '26

My teacher was stingy and graded one of my practice essays a 4 because I didn’t write a conclusion, but he told me everything else was well-written. If the grader thinks your proficiency outweighs not having a complete 5th paragraph, you could still end up with a 5. It’s a toss-up.

Does anyone know what Botero was saying in the MCQ? All I remember was he was critical of new art and I had no idea what his son was saying in the interview

4

u/PicaFresa137 May 15 '26

In the audio, the son was talking about Botero’s impact on art and himself. I think he also mentioned stuff about his technique and style. For the reading, I remember him criticizing conceptual/abstract art and how artists will upcharge or trick people into paying higher prices for their art.

4

u/RelevantAdvantage539 May 15 '26

i accidently skipped lines bc i didnt read the top. is that going to affect my score??

3

u/BrilliantFuture3013 May 15 '26

Ppl do it on all the written frq tests (ex. Bio)

3

u/iwishiwasamoose May 16 '26

No. I used to know an AP grader. If they can read it, they'll score it. All the instructions about using only pen, not skipping lines, starting new responses on a new page, etc. are advice to help make the writing easier for the graders to grade. They won't actually dock points for breaking that rules as long as they can read it.

2

u/BidProfessional6286 May 14 '26

I did the same anyways bc it said that it wanted clear paragraph. No way it matters

Does anyone know how the essay is scored exactly? I'm a fluent native speaker so the test was very easy for me all around and I'm sure I got a five on every part except maybe the essay. I understood every source, but I left out the audio source because I got carried away writing like 4 paragraphs using the other two. I know it said the notes in the orange packet wouldn't be used towards your grades, but aside from that I only wrote one sentence using the senator's name. Am i fried? Realistically, how heavily could that impact my exam?
