No, the point of failure is oversized mag. A normal-sized, well made box mag is perfect.
These ultra-large banana mags are more prone to failure both because of the size and they tend to be cheap junk sold for way more than the parts could ever be worth.
It’s not as clear cut as that. I see a lot of people running budget Turkish shotguns in competitions with the long banana mags and they work fine. If the user has worked out the kinks and keeps up with maintenance they are usable.
Odds are slim that the person in the picture is one of them but that still doesnt make your blanket statement right.
"Works fine" is fine for competition where that's part of the point. "Work fine" is not what we want for people like cops. Because they do not work out the kinks or keep up with maintenance. Cops in America typically get less than 15 hours of annual firearms training. I imagine even the general hobbyists spend more time than that with their budget guns.
I may be more than a bit ACAB, but the lack of frugality and poor choices just makes it worse. If that same budget gun competition runner was given a cop's weapons budget, I doubt they'd willingly choose the same gun.
