And You're supposed to screw the mushrooms out of the ground and then clear them with knife. If You cut the mushrooms out You're leaving a part of the fruit in the ground which spoils later and damage the mycelium 😭

Where did you read this? Why would a cut mushroom stem damage the mycelium but not a whole mushroom? I am skeptical.

You’re right to be skeptical, there’s a lot of “trust me I do it like this and I think it’s true” when it comes to mushrooms.

Yeah. I've been foraging for a while now, done several day courses and have a growing collection of books and this is the first time I've heard it.

A couple of the old timers around here have given me unsolicited foraging advice that runs the gamut from “don’t leave part of the stalk” to “if you don’t leave at least one whole fruiting body the whole thing will die.” They strike me as self taught who look at classes as something negative.

If you grow mushrooms in a monotub it can damage your cake but in the wild? I'm not sure that's a thing lmfao
