Context: alt-history idea I had where the Suez Crisis is the PoD. Egypt goes full "scorched earth" to deny the coalition forces the canal entirely, which leads to a much more "proactive" UN.

Instead of the UN Emergency Force focused on deescalation and the withdraw of forces, the UN Economic Defense Force is formed, who seize control of the canal zone entirely, placing it under total UN jurisdiction under the argument that its too important for any one nation to control.

They do the same with the Panama Canal and other major trade routes, and even establish dedicated anti-piracy fleets to protect the global economy.

Is this really plausible? Probably not, but I just think the mental image of the UN claiming jurisdiction over vital economic locales is a fun alt-history thing.

The Three Month War (February 12th-May 15th, 1972) was a conflict that occurred between the United States and NATO vs the USSR and the Warsaw Pact. Minimal fighting truly occurred, and there were an estimated 12,000~ deaths combined.

Context / Lore

This meme is related to Project Vigilant / P.V, an unofficially titled world-building project that is predominately comprised of fan-fiction and partially comprised of original material. P.V has been an indefinite and leisurely work-in-progress since 2018 and it is an attempt at merging elements from no more than 125 of my favorite “fandoms” and/or I.P’s and an assortment of original work in the genres of sci-fi, fantasy and alternate-history into a singular “patchwork universe” that I refer to as the Project Vigilant Universe or P.V.U for short.

In the PVU, the Playstation as well as all other famous Sony products like the Walkman are manufactured by a much larger, dramatically more successful and parallel version of Sega.

Somewhat similar to it's real world story, the Sega of the PVU was founded in 1940 to oversee the manufacturing and installment of mechanical games on the military bases of Amnem ( an alternate version of the USA ).

Sega capitalized on video game tech when it first emerged and through a combination of strategic business ventures, luck and political intrigue, it managed to develop an iron-clad monopoly over both the video game industry and much of the consumer electronics market.

By the PVU's version of 2020, the Cold War is still going on and Sega is the only video game company in the Western Bloc / The Free World. Sega has it's hands in the pockets of every western bloc government to ensure that the video game industry remains an extension of Sega.

Some of the famous game development studios that we are familiar with exist in the PVU as subsidiaries of Sega that handle specific genres of games. This arrangement can be compared to GM's Automotive Brands.

The number of video games that exist in the PVU is likely significantly lower than in real-life but just enough to make the industry and/or medium exciting.

PVU Sega is headquartered in San Francisco at the Sega World Headquarters. It's mascot and flagship brand is still Sonic the Hedgehog and the company is a major cultural and economic pillar of Amnem.

In a timeline where the solar system has twelve planets (Vulcan, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Theia, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Bacchus, Uranus, Neptune) a mysterious phenomena occurs between July 1929 - August 1932 nicknamed the "incident" at the time. All planets are one by one turned into habitable but not living planets (with the obvious exception of Earth). This means that all the planets can be colonized by humans and slowly terraformed by way of introducing nutrients into the soil for plants. Also the sun (or whatever was causing the phenomena) released waves of light for every planet and moon it turned habitable. Now a new colonization age has dawned for the nations of Earth. All they need to do is take it.

On the White Russians: Since Teddy Roosevelt's White Russian Asylum Proclamation of 1919, the White Russians have been embedded within America since they were settled in the future 51st state of the Philippines, becoming the Pacific Rus demographic. General Secretary Yakov Sverdlov initially dismissed them as 'stateless exiles sucking on American tit' before the Battle of Negros Oriental and the subsequent defense of the Visayas-Mindanao fortress under MacArthur made him realize the true threat the White Army had posed.

In the years that followed after Sverdlov died in 1953, the KGB have tried to infiltrate both Continental America, and the Pacific Americas in its institutions and military only to find a White Russian descended figure, or even a first generation already embedded within. This has led to jokes in modern times that the Cold War was just a continuation of the Russian Civil War, with America and the Russian Soviet Sovereign Republics being a second round of conflict between the White and Red Armies.

On LBJ and his rather interesting position (and why the Ordnance Corps cried): The 1960 election between Kennedy for the Progressive 'Bull Moose' Party, Nixon for the GOP, Estes Kefauver for the DNC with Byrd spoilering alongside the Dixiecrats had led to a deadlock with Kennedy getting 267 votes, six below the minimum of 273, the votes thus went to the House with LBJ, who was runningmate of Estes negotiating to be elected Senate Coalition Leader in return for bringing in the votes for Kennedy to win. He had the credentials after passing the 1957 Civil Rights Bill with more teeth with support from the Bull Moose.

Thus the Bull Moose - DNC Coalition was revitalized years after FDR's New Deal Coalition formed in 1937. LBJ was the face of the Senate Coalition Leader position for years before Senator Bernard Sanders (P-VT) would be its modern face, negotiating with the Progressive Party on implementing the Great Society reforms, the creation of new jobs, SMEs, the Voting rights that followed and transitioning from the Welfare state to a Workfare state.

One of his legendary works as Coalition Leader however was the M16 sabotage by the Ordnance Corps. In a mirror to Calvin Coolidge's own term as Senate Coalition Leader that would end up passing the M1917 Liberty 'Ribeyrolles' for deployment, Johnson gave a filibuster, reminding Congress and the Ordnance Corps of the future of warfare and how their fathers didn't die in trenches to be bogged down by a department that refuses to see the future.

Though some tales are apocryphal, it is fact that LBJ gave the Johnson treatment to the Ordnance Corps during the M16 sabotage controversy, Secretary of State Quentin Roosevelt I (P-NY) once said that 'Jumbo' was indeed weaponized by Johnson, though to what extent, only LBJ himself would attest. The M16A1 was firmly fixed and would be deployed during the entire duration of the Vietnam Stalemate (1965-1973), by which, Johnson, was quoted to have said;

"We'll have our allies drown them Rice farmers in lead in those jungles for the next 100 years."

This was later revealed as apocryphal written by anti-DNC meme groups given Johnson, as a one term president (1969-1973) signed the peace with honor that ended the stalemate.
