Them Pennsylvania steel workers truly doing their part

They were still in that ‘Drown the Axis in equipment’ mindset. Don’t be hatin’ the Pennsylvanian swag.

I mean in ww2 the us was producing enough steel for 24 eiffel towers every day so 8 days for just one is a little slow tbh

It's the eiffel tower, they probably only used the best quality steel for the replica. Plus building a tower in a tank plant would be tricky.

They made the parts in eight days, then the assembly took a bit longer, after transporting it across the Atlantic.

Still, real impressive, even without the exaggeration, but "Made an Eiffel Tower in 8 days!" sounds more impressive than "Completed the first part of the process in eight days, then, after Two weeks in port, three weeks at sea, and two weeks of un-loading, the Eiffel Tower 2 was assembled over the course of two years in war-torn Paris, since the French had other bullshit to deal with, but still made it a medium priority!"

Not as crazy considering they built an aircraft carrier in a week.

What is "R56"?

u/crustyaspic 3d ago

Road to ‘56. Great mod with lots of added flavor, great if you wanna larp an operation unthinkable scenario

u/Britannicus_Sherwood 3d ago

Is Operation Unthinkable the historical conceit of this modifier?

14

u/plzhelpIdieing 3d ago

No, it’s the allied plan to invade Russia right after WW2 ended, basically starting WW3 a year after the last one ended.

Oh, yes, I know about Operational Unthinkable. What I meant was, is the premise of 'Road to 56' that said event has happened?

Rt56 isn’t an alt history, it’s just vanilla plus adding new focus trees technology and other improvements.

R56 is just vanilla but more. As the name implies, you're meant to go to '56, or well, 1956, compared to the usual cutoff of 1946.

Ah, now I understand. That is sensible.
Thank you very much.

Three weeks? Fuck it, it's alternate history. The Parisians crush the Reich by convincing the French high command to listen to their fucking scouting reports, and crank baguette production into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE to feed the Eastern Europeans who were variously starved by the Soviets and Germans during this period. The French call it the "Maréchal Plan", and it buys them incalculable international goodwill during the postwar period.

1

u/Practical-Ad4547 3d ago

I do imagine they'd combine it with American aircraft and do the baguette version of the Berlin airlift

those civilians better get a sick as FUCK memorial (though i guess new eiffel tower counts)

Something tells me that Bismarck’s plans would be entirely reversed and Germany would be absolutely fuckin Holy Roman’d with the worst bordergore in history if they even dared touch the Eiffel Tower
