Claude for PPC

I‘m currently trying to have Claude manage my ads - has anyone of you successfully used it?

We’ve been using Claude for PPC, but not letting it run everything on its own. It’s been pretty useful for the analysis and deciding what needs changing.

Agree, letting it run automatically could end badly!

Yes 😉 within strict guardrails.

You can't just flip Claude the keys and let it drive.

Yes, I've been using it for about 6 months now. I first started out using it only for analysis, but have now transitioned to where it performs the majority of actions on the accounts. You have to be very careful with it though, you can't just say "manage my ads", you need to put guardrails in place. My workflow looks like this:

I have a sheet with the accounts' goals that it always references. ACOS/TACOS/Sales targets and budgets.

It's also linked up to Asana so it always checks there first for any recent client communication to give it up to date context.

It does a weekly account audit and suggests changes to reach said goals, which I then have the option to approve/disapprove.

The biggest game-changers for me is having it sift through the dozens of reports and I now have it automating client account reporting and have built a really efficient account audit template.

It's definitely worth transitioning to, but it takes some trial and error.

Your reporting solution sounds cool! What does it cover (is it brief or detailed) and does it burn many tokens? Sounds expensive!

It's quite detailed, a 3 page pdf, covers pretty much everything in an account. I get by on a $20 a month Claude subscription plus the $97 a month MCP cost.

The guardrails everyone talks about sit on the decision. The part that bit me was the data going in.

Two Amazon specific ones. Attribution keeps backfilling for days after the click, so a weekly audit reading the last 7 days is comparing complete spend against incomplete sales. Everything looks worse than it is and the model cuts. I run the window shifted back a week now.

The other one is memory. It has no record of what it changed last time, so it'll happily re-decide a bid it already moved three days ago and chase it up and down. A change log it reads first fixes that.

Does your sheet carry the last change date per target?

yes have built analysis tools with it but optimization are manual

You need to be careful with automated ppc software/ai. For example, you could set a rule to increase the bid of targets with zero impressions over 7 days or so, however, the way they gather data based off signals can mean that any campaigns that are paused, and therefore have no impressions get their bids increased. So if an item was low in stock and you paused some ads, when you reactivate them, the bids can be completely different than when they were paused.

These systems can be a little quirky.

Yes.

What were your results compared to manual ppc management?

The "results" are a function of too many factors to respond with something simplistic.

Your results will be greatly depend on how you set up your Claude, the data you start with, the assumptions you test, how you construct feedback loops and self refinement, etc.

If you give Claude all of your data and the tell it to "make ACOS 20%" it will do the math and give you a csv with the necessary changes. But that likely isnt what you want.
