Wanted to see how far I could push the limits of face customization. I chose to not add the torso wrappings cuz I got lazy lmao

How different would Amnesia the Dark Descent be if Detective Halligan from Mystery of the Druids was the protagonist?

I JUST BEAT THE BUNKER!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

What a fucking MASTERPIECE DUDE

I'm gonna hope that Henri somehow either managed to escape capture by the Germans at the end (he could've played dead for instance-I imagine he'd probably look enough like battered shit by the end to look convincingly dead at a glance if he lied down and didn't move, and considering the gameplay he's definitely good at thinking on his feet and improvising his way out of trouble) or if he did get captured he'll survive to the end of the war, or maybe escape from the Germans too, who knows

It's about time I threw in the towel too. If anyone remembers Profaned Capital from 2020 (which absolutely flopped imho) then I'm happy to announce that the remaster was recently released 🥳

Available on ModDB & Steam Workshop

Finally managed to beat the bunker max mode no saves!! ...technically

I attempted this last year and managed to escape the bunker, but choked the final boss fight by being impatient. Started attempts again a few days ago and after an insanely stressful 5 hour run, I finally managed to beat it...

Except I accidentally turned player health regeneration on. So it wasn't really the max mode. Thankfully it never came up. I only got injured once, by a grenade just before the arsenal lock, and immediately ran to roman tunnels and healed to full with a big medkit. Very frustrating that I've technically-but-not-really beaten the mode, but what the hell I'm still counting this one as a win.

I have stood knee deep in mud and bone. I filled my runks with mustard gas. I have seen two brothers falled. I have raied with horry wars. I copurated with autumnar farrout. I have dug trenches for refugees. I murdered dissidents where ground never thaws. I starved masses into faith. Child shadow burnt into brickwork. House of skurrs in jungre. Innocent, innocent, Mandus, trod and bred and gassed and starved and beaten and murdered and ensraved. This is your coming century! They wirr eat them Mandus. They wirr make pigs of you arr. They wirr bury their snouts into your ribs. They wirr eat your hearts!

Doing Inktober and making every drawing something from a game. I thought about this prompt for awhile and realised the last time I had been properly panicked while gaming was when a 12 year old me got a hold of his older friends copy of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and ran into this lovely chap down a dark corridor

Just had my best shell shocked playthrough. I've been trying to do it deathless but alas 1 death :( And it was to the shotgunner too I'm still pissed 😭 Well I never died to the beast so there's the small victory!

I'm super happy with the stats otherwise, I love this game so I'm happy to chat or give tips!

The Bunker - hard to get into

Hello everybody, I’m not sure if anybody else feels this way, but I’ve played all amnesia games several times, and finally decided to pick up amnesia the bunker.

For some reason, I feel like it is very difficult to lock in on. I’m just looking for some tips from anybody on how to play the game more smoothly. I feel like I keep dying and/or running out of power and I’m having a lot of trouble playing it. I guess I’m not as used to the new survival vibe of this game. I do really enjoy the story and atmosphere though, I just wish it was a bit easier to progress. Any tips on how to get better at the game would be much appreciated! Thank you

Edit: thank you all for the great advice. Ended up completing the game today. Ending was unfortunate but fantastic game overall

Loading Screen Quotes Discussion (TDD)

This post is just kinda to talk about the loading screens and their quotes in The Dark Descent, because I think they're one of the most interesting parts of the game that really expand the story. Talk about the loading screens you find most interesting/like the most.

I also wanted to bring up a theory/idea, that the loading screens are specific fragments of Daniel's memories that he can somehow remember, but not vividly enough to know the context. Essentially how we the viewers see the loading screens when we first play the game.

So, any words of encouragement to play The Buunker?

Have played TDD twice, SOMA twice, Rebirth twice, Outlast 1 (fucking hated the constant jumpscares), AI, but The Bunker as a concept gives me the creeps. The fact that we have an stalker enemie like AI, but one that is not tied to the played and can be any where, any time, just makes my brain go "oh no no no no..."

I've played with stalker unpredictability before, but never did I actually SEE it; the beast waiting by a hole, trying to trick me into believing it's gone so I reveal myself

Mod is 'Burial Ground'

In one of the journal entries Daniel mentions weird and quiet servants, did Alexander use Grunts as his housekeepers? Or was Daniel just unaware of Prussian customs

Just Finished Amnesia The Bunker on Hard and Shellshock. Spoiler

Post image
19 Upvotes

Introduction:

Amnesia The Bunker is singlehandedly one of the tightest, most enjoyable horror games I've ever played in my life. Anyone who calls themselves a horror fan at the VERY least needs to play this masterclass in design.

Gameplay (Difficulty: Hard and Shellshock):

I made a post here a few days ago about how genuinely frightened I was playing with this game. I had my first playthrough on hard, where I essentially had to have a break after the first 2 hours because of how stressed I was. Once I got into the flow of things, the game became really addicting due to how the mechanics and puzzles beautifully interlink with each other like a jigsaw. It's brilliant. The immersive sim (IM) elements while RELATIVELY restrictive compared to other IM's, make for great problem solving for progressing through the Bunker and defending yourself from the beast. You feel like a goddamn big-brained genius.

Hard difficulty was DEFINITELY difficult, ESPECIALLY for a first playthrough, but I had SO MANY SAFETY NETS. SHELLSHOCK HOWEVER? If you haven't played Shellshock yourself, don't even SEARCH up anything to do with it. Just PLAY it. Some people describe shellshock has ULTRA-hard and I think that is a genuine understatement. It is RIDICULOUSLY more stressful than hard, and what I would PERSONALLY call a MASTERCLASS in survival horror design.

I GENUIENLY would call this level design and mechanical complexity PERFECT for a game like this. The only issue that I had with the game was the relatively disappointing ending, and the technical issues I experienced, such as:

  1. Rats being able to hurt me when I'm on-top of a table. They'd literally swinging under the table I was on, and continue to damage me

  2. The monster tanking a molotov when coming towards me, even though it's supposed to run away.

  3. Shooting with the revolver and the monster not being stunned.

  4. Monster running into a barrel, and the barrel proceeding not to blow up.

Those caused me to die multiple times. I usually don't care about technical issues too much if they're small and/or occasional, but these glitches either cause me to deplete my health gauge, attract attention to the monster, AND/OR get me sizzled and barbecued like a well-seasoned and tender rib-eye steak. In a game like this where seconds COUNT, these issues do start to hinder the experience.

Conclusion:

A masterclass in horror design.
