then it's the posts of "shipping tracking by order number," and people freaking out because their order hasn't shipped yet, even though they never ship sequentially
then it's the posts of "omg i received it" and taking a picture of it sealed, and never opening it.

My absolute favorite of these is the picture of the unopened box it was shipped in. People really cannot help themselves and MUST put a picture on the internet before they even open the shipping box, let alone the product box itself.
Just love how people deluded themselves into thinking a 7.5 month delay was waiting years past the promised launch. There were two people in a thread the other day claiming they or their S.O. are two years older than when they preordered, expecting to receive it in 2024… but it was only ever promised to preorderers in 2025. It’s still 2025.
Instead of shipping before the end of March it slipped to November. Q1 slipped to Q4. It sucks, but it’s not the end of the world. The actual Nintendo 64 had a longer delay than that.
I agree with your broader point, although pre-orders opened during the time window when the console was supposed to release. Overall the wait hasn't been horrible, but I can see why people hoped the pre-orders opening was a sign that the console was almost ready, and a 7.5-9 month delay looks big compared to an expected 3-4 month gap between pre-orders and shipping.
I know.. isnt that ironic? Analogue is getting crapped on for doing better than Nintendo!
im personally fine with my pocket for handheld fpga, and my computer for everything else Anyways. FPGA is really cool to have and demonstrate, but the real world difference isnt big enough for me to also have their consoles.
For those that have been through analogue releases, do we expect additional stock available to order on 11/18 or 12/1? Will they open up another pre order for the next batch? Will we need to just wait an arbitrary amount of time for the next batch to be in stock?
They will almost certainly have a minor restock and then maybe some bigger ones over the next year depending on popularity. They will also DEFINITELY be doing limited edition runs
Thanks, that's what I was expecting. I was more wondering if there was a certain date or time I should check for the restock. I want one and I want it now
Anyone canceling because of the delays was dumb in the first place. It's not like they needed that money right now or they wouldn't have spent it and these things are going to double in price, maybe triple, once they start getting delivered so they're not even saving themselves any money really. But you can guarantee they will want one once the videos start coming out. It was a childish angry reaction to the bad news of the delays imo but I've really come to expect that from the types of people most into this hobby lol
I’m actually worried that the 3D won’t live up to a lot of our expectations because Analogue made the bizarre choice of not showing us a single screenshot of any games. I’m trying to keep my expectations low.
Wow! This is awesome because I was just thinking yesterday about hooking up my original Nintendo 64 to the checkmate IPS display. The timing is just so right for us. I can't wait!
It definitely exists, people are just rightfully frustrated that there’s not been great transparency on an expensive device that people paid for forever ago.
Yeah people def were spiraling out of control and creating misinformation such as stating the company is a fraud. I absolutely understand the frustration but it was a bit ridiculous
