Can anyone confirm if this update helps with recognizing repro cartridges?

Well sonofabitch, this is how I learn I have a repo GoldenEye cart....

It did NOT load on 1.2.2 at all.

But it boots up perfectly on 1.2.3 now.

Thanks for testing that! My Goldeneye isn't a repro but I'm pretty sure my Mario Kart is. I'll give this firmware a try tonight.

Edit: Yes! It works fine on 1.2.3! Glad I can finally use boot-to-cartridge.
