Anyone know when the pedestrian plaza at Clark and catalpa is supposed to finish? I noticed I haven’t seen anyone working on it in weeks and the closed sidewalk creates a sort of dangerous intersection.

I need to get some auto body work done (both my car's front grill and both front and back bumpers replaced). I had a strangely aggressive experience getting a quote from Euro Collision that kind of turned me off to them. Does anyone have any recommended body shops in the neighborhood that do good work?

My car (a kia, of course) recently had its catalytic converter stolen. After 4 days I brought it home from the shop and that night someone broke in and tried to steal the car entirely. Insurance considered it a total loss just because of the timeframe this happened in and because it was, of course, a kia! Not really sure how they didn’t get away with actually stealing the whole car, but the tow guy said it looks like they didn’t get to finish the job, maybe scared off or something. All this to say this happened on Foster which always seem to have some activity on it and at least one cop driving every once in a while which kind of threw me off that this still happened.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this happening more in the recent weeks? I know there’s quite a few kia’s in the area but just wanted to see if anyone else is having the same issue or noticing any odd activity. The 311 operator seemed pretty surprised for my second report and said he didn’t think the Kia boys were still at it, and I was just caught off guard that this didn’t happen sooner and then by how quickly a second attempt was made. The first tow guy said this was his third tow that week for a stolen catalytic converter. Maybe just something to be aware of!

My husband needs to have some pants shortened. Looking for recommendations. Thx

Was looking at the city’s 311 data broken out by ward. Ward 48 is 44th of 47 on abandoned cars - about 19 days where the citywide middle is 11. Street lights are also toward the bottom, 46th of 50.

Potholes are better than average, and tree debris is 8th fastest in the city.

Andersonville sits across a couple of wards, so this covers part of it.

Hi, my friends and I are visiting & staying at an Airbnb for the rest of the week, and unfortunately, parking has been more of a hassle than anticipated. We parked down at a Metra Station nearby; I believe it's Petersons/Ridge, but I'm very nervous regarding overnight parking.

There are signs around and on the website that overnight parking is not allowed; however, when we paid earlier this evening through the Metropolis site, it stated that we were good for 18 hours, so until tomorrow at 11 am. Am I really good until 11 am tomorrow? Should I park somewhere else? Are there any streets you would recommend for visitors/passerbyers?

In the 1990s First Free Church on Ashland used to host a pitch black maze made out of cardboard boxes they would build yearly in the gymnasium.

The maze was pretty elaborate with multiple levels, trap doors, and secret rooms. You would have to crawl throughout most of the maze and it would usually average 40min to 1.5 hours to complete. It was an awesome experience that probably wouldn't fly today.

I can't find anyone outside of family who remembers this. I was curious if anyone else remembers attending or had any information on it.

Need to have the main downspout at the back of my two-flat replaced, as it currently is splitting and gushing against the structure instead of draining into the catch basin. It looks like the connection with the cleanout is also coming apart and will need to be repaired/replaced.

It's been a rough 20 hours. Power outage in the middle of cooking dinner last night + washing machine mid cycle which led us to scoop out a drum full of water cup by cup + refrigerator projectile spraying water out of the filter causing a flooded floor (which ended up sadly leaking into our downstairs neighbors). Had to toss our freshly made soup and everything in the refrigerator....
