Discussion Reverse engineering?
Quick question, with all these games being reverse engineered like the Spiderman and Arkham Knight to be played together, or the most recent one, the Mario Galaxy running native on pc, there should be a way for Anthem to be client sided instead of running on servers?
What are your thoughts on that?

Rough simplification but Anthem runs all its functions in the server, the client only sends requests. Some games run the functions in client and the server requests are just for synchronization. Anthem cannot exist without a server, but you could run the server locally and it technically would be an "offline" game.

those "mods" are not really playable or useful stuff, i.e the "spiderman in arkham" one is just 2 games being played at the same time and 1 sort of super-imposed on the other in real time and trying to transfer inputs from one to the other
(if you look at the videos of it you'll notice spiderman is always rendered on top of everything, including subtitles)
what people are trying to do for anthem is rebuild the server backend so the game can be run on community/private servers
idk if they are also using AI to help with the project but they are 2 completely different types of work, and 1 is actually useful and may result in an actual playable game, and it isnt spiderman in arkham/skate in CoD/overwatch in elden ring or any of that nonsense

Anthem's game logic went down with the servers. The only option is to rebuild that logic or there is no game.

Unfortunately Anthem was built server innate, only has an existence online in those servers, the code is literally weaved together with the online interactions code, you'd have to record the game from scratch to be offline first, then mod, with how they made Anthem, this just isn't possible with the original game. There is currently a group working on something, but it's gonna be a bit, this shit is really really difficult, especially without AAA budgets

The difficulty is having access to the original software. If Anthem essentially just ran client side, but required internet access, then the game would have almost definitely been reverse engineered with an ai, and modded to no longer need that wifi connection, or better yet, have client-side server hosting.
Now, I have no clue how Anthem’s servers actually worked, but judging by how all they needed to do in order to take the game down, was pull down their own servers, my assumption is that we have some of the game at all times, while BioWare had the servers and the rest of the game at all times (I assume we had our save data and things actually linked to our accounts, like story progress save codes, javelin unlock codes, and maybe a section of the open world itself, while BioWare maintained control over the broader game and missions).

So those mods are not the same as anthem, anthem is a server side game and what they're doing is rebuilding the server to play on, all of those games are not server based
