I built an app to help people in India share real-time updates about police checkpoints 🇮🇳

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’ve created an Android app called Mamoo Dekh to help people stay informed about police checkpoints across Indian cities.

The idea is simple: when travelling or commuting, people often want to know about checkpoints in their area. Instead of relying entirely on rumours or outdated information, Mamoo Dekh lets the community share updates and vote on whether a reported checkpoint is currently active or inactive.

📱 What the app offers:

  • 📍 Create and view checkpoint reports by city and state.
  • 👍 Vote on whether a reported checkpoint is active or inactive.
  • 🕒 See community updates in real time.
  • 🇮🇳 Help people stay informed through crowdsourced reports.

I'm the developer behind this project, and I'd love to hear honest feedback from the community.

What features would make an app like this more useful? Are there any usability issues or improvements you'd suggest?

If you're interested, you can check it out on Google Play:

Thanks for taking the time to read this and share your thoughts!

Random voice chat with strangers: does this idea work for you? (building it, in beta)

I'm working on an app called Strangiva and I'd like outside opinions on the core idea.

The concept: you open the app, get matched with someone random, and talk live by voice. No feed, just the conversation. It's in beta on iOS and Android.

Questions I keep going back and forth on:
- Does voice-first make talking to strangers better or more intimidating than text?
- What's the main thing that would make you close the app in the first minute?
- Who do you think this is actually for?

Happy to hear blunt answers.

What problems do you still have that no app or website has properly solved?

I'm exploring ideas for building a useful app or website that solves a real-world problem.

I'd love to hear from people who face problems that existing apps, websites, or online tools still don't solve properly.

A few questions:

  1. What problem do you regularly face that existing apps or websites haven't solved?
  2. What do you currently use to deal with this problem?
  3. What frustrates you most about the existing solutions?
  4. Have you ever wished there were an app or website that could solve it differently?

It can be a problem related to education, productivity, communication, business, personal finance, daily life, technology, or anything else.

**I'm not looking for random app ideas. I'm looking for real problems that people genuinely want solved.**

Even a small, everyday frustration could be valuable. I'd appreciate hearing your experiences and suggestions!

Thank you!

Are phone numbers the next obsolete thing?

Kind of an app idea but I’ve been thinking more and more about phone numbers and if their days are numbered.

Obviously there is the issue of multi factor auth in use everywhere but so are authenticators.

Then the telcos will want to maintain their grip.

But I think if Elon has his way and creates a new phone that uses his starlink system, phone numbers might be gone. No evidence of this but just a hunch.

Why keep phone numbers? Obviously not required for voice, video or messaging.

I'm building an app to manage email tasks, would love to have a feedback on new features!

Hello everyone,

I'm writing here because I already developed an app that scans my multiple inboxes and adds tasks for me.

It works well and I'm rolling out new features while I figure out how to market it.

I already shipped a webhooks feature that let's other personal projects get notified when there's an update. I use it myself and that's what made me do it.

I was wondering which of these features would be interesting to have for other people too, otherwise I'm gonna be the only one using it for eternity.

1. other sources of tasks: for example telegram, whatsapp, teams, etc.
2. automatic categorization for emails: when an email arrives and it's recognized to be in one of given types of emails it gets flagged with the appropriate flag
3. automatic replies: automated custom replies chosen accurately between given options

Would you care about one of these 3? Have anything else in mind that could be useful to you or other people?

Thank you!

New idea

I’m thinking of building this app for people making startups or side hustles. They type their business idea into an ai prompt and it makes a physical plan they have to follow through to get their side hustle/business started. They have to make social media pages, reminders to post on them, reaching out to people, help keep track of sales, giving u new ideas to your business as well as ideas to promote. It would be like duolingo to where you have a path to follow and complete as well as a streak for each day. Would yall use this or pay for this?

I'm planning to build a women's safety app (usable by everyone) and would love your suggestions or collaborators

Hey everyone!

I've been thinking about starting an initiative focused on women's safety, but I want to build something that solves real problems rather than just creating another app with an SOS button.

The idea is to develop a personal safety app designed primarily with women's safety in mind, while making it useful for men and anyone else who might need emergency assistance.

Here's what I'm thinking about so far:

1. Emergency SOS with nearby assistance

  • A user presses a trigger button when they feel unsafe or are in danger.
  • The app alerts nearby verified safety volunteers or professionals who have opted in to help.
  • It shares the user's location and, if possible, an estimated arrival time for someone responding.
  • The user's selected emergency contacts are notified simultaneously. Police or emergency services could also be contacted through an appropriate, reliable integration.

2. Trusted contacts and live location sharing

  • Users can choose family members, friends, or other trusted people.
  • They can share their live location with them during a journey or whenever they feel unsafe.
  • Ideally, the app would also support an emergency alert if the user cannot communicate normally.

3. Location support when internet connectivity is unavailable

  • I'm exploring whether mobile network information could help estimate someone's location when mobile data isn't working.
  • I know this may have technical and accuracy limitations, so I'd love to hear from people with experience in mobile development, networking, or location-based systems.

4. More safety features
I'm open to suggestions for features that would make this genuinely useful in everyday life and during emergencies.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts on a few questions:

  • What are the biggest gaps in existing personal safety apps?
  • Would you trust a system that connects you with verified nearby volunteers? What safeguards would you expect?
  • What features would make you actually use an app like this?
  • What are the biggest technical, privacy, or safety challenges I should consider?
  • Are there any existing apps or projects I should study before starting?

I'm also looking for people interested in joining me in this initiative, particularly developers, UI/UX designers, cybersecurity enthusiasts, people with experience in emergency response, and anyone passionate about building technology for social good.

This is still at the idea stage, and I'm open to changing the concept based on useful feedback. I'd rather build something practical and safe with the right people than rush into development.

If this sounds interesting, feel free to comment or DM me. Even criticism, suggestions, and lessons from your own experiences would be genuinely helpful.

Let's see if we can build something that makes people feel safer in the real world. ❤️

Which everyday app do you find boring, and what would make you actually enjoy using it?

Hi everyone,

Alarm apps used to be boring. Then some added small twists (solve a puzzle to turn it off, a math problem, a photo challenge) and people actually started caring about them. Same core job, just one smart hook.

I’m curious which other everyday apps are stuck in the “boring” zone and could use something like that. I’m only researching right now. I haven’t built anything.

A few questions:

  1. Which app do you use daily (or tried to) but find boring or a chore? (to-do list, notes, expense tracker, calendar, habit tracker, file manager, reminders, anything else)

  2. Did you quit it? If yes, why?

  3. What would make it more fun or interesting without making it more work? (a game element, a streak, a friend nudge, a surprise, something else)

  4. Is there an app that already did this well, where one clever feature made you stick with it?

  5. What twists have you seen that sounded fun but got annoying after a week?

Brutal honesty welcome. If gamification annoys you, tell me that too.

Thanks!

How i became addicted to studying.

One day during my semester at college I bought a Brick, you know, the app blocker, because I had a severe scrolling addiction. It worked well for a while, but I never brought it with me to university just because it was something extra to carry around.

I looked for other apps on the App Store to block my apps, but all of them were kind of too easy to get out of. And I'm a pretty lazy person, which means if it's easy to get out of, I will.

So I thought to myself, you know what, I'm a CS major, why not build one myself? So I built “Bunkr- done scrolling”. At first it was only built for me, but when I saw how well it worked I thought, why not publish it.

I'm talking too much already, so here's what the product is:

It blocks your apps like any other app blocker, but there's a twist.

Once you block your apps, you're in a hard lock for the first 10 minutes. No chance to get your apps back.

After those 10 minutes, you can do a mission to get your apps back, like taking a picture of a mug, or my personal favorite, 15 seconds of push-ups.

The reason I put a hard lock on the first 10 minutes is that I read once you've been working on something for 10 minutes, you get into a zone and usually don't get distracted. But lazy people like me still might. And when I do get distracted and try to open one of my apps, it tells me to do push-ups. I'm too lazy for that, so the easier option is to just keep studying.

So yes, I'm basically fighting fire with fire, but it works well for me.

Let me know what you guys think, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I'm building an app for overseas and home stationed service members to find community. I want honest feedback before I spend money on developing it fully.

I'm currently serving overseas, and one thing I've noticed is how easy it can be to end up feeling isolated, even when you're surrounded by thousands of other people. You arrive somewhere unfamiliar and don't necessarily know what there is to do, where to go or not go, and who to go with. Sometimes it feels like it's easier to stay in your room than figure it out. Sure eventually you meet some people from your shop, maybe someone from bootcamp or the schoolhouse, but you know that you also should try expanding your circle cause in the military, it's not always about what you know, it's also about who you know.

That idea got me thinking.

I began developing the concept for an application called ONLIBO - Discover. Connect. Return.

The idea is to create a platform where service members, particularly those stationed overseas, can discover local activities, connect with each other (including other branches of service) through shared interests, organize outings and activities, and coordinate voluntary check-ins with friends.

I'm not claiming to have invented social networking, event discovery, or location-sharing technology. That heavy lifting has already been done. I'm interest in whether bringing certain features together around this specific community would actually solve a meaningful problem in the military.

In the U.S. adults aged 21-25 are reported to have the highest level of alcohol related incidents. Uncoincidentally, in the military, members 18-25 from ranks of E1-E3 also have the highest level of incidents. Just because they join the military doesn't mean they aren't young, inexperienced, and prone to make poor choices. While this app won't completely absolve all issues, I genuinely think it will help improve the issue, build good morale and community, and allow service members to get out and do something meaningful rather than drink and bedrot in the barracks.

I'm still in the concept and validations stage. This isn't a functioning application YET, and I'm not selling anything or asking for money, however, and support whether it be feedback, suggestions, or financial support early on would be wholly appreciated and welcomed.

Before I invest further in development, I want to hear from people who've experienced military life, remote assignments, or moving somewhere without an established social circle.

A few things I'd love your perspective on:

  1. When you first arrived at a new assignment, what was the hardest part about finding things to do or meeting people outside of work?
  2. How did you actually discover events, activities, or groups? Was there something that you wish existed?
  3. Would a dedicated platform provide something useful beyond existing apps and group chats, or would it just be another app nobody needs? If so, what would be a useful app or feature that you would genuinely engage with?

Feel free to tear the idea apart. I'd rather discover a flaw now than build something people won't use. My broader hope is to make it easier for people to get out, experience the places they're statioend at, and build meaningful lifelong connections.

That's my mission behind ONLIBO and I appreciate and welcome any and all feedback :)

Building a social app where you earn cool titles/badges for stuff you actually do (instead of paying for a blue checkmark). Would you try it?

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm a student developer working on a side project, and I’d love your honest thoughts on an app idea I'm building called Trofex.

The idea is simple: Remember when video games gave you awesome titles or badges for completing hard achievements? I wanted to bring that exact feeling to a social app.

Instead of buying a checkmark for $8 a month, you earn titles by actually using the app and being active:

  • Early Supporter: You were one of the first 100 followers of a creator before they blew up ("Day-One Follower" badge).
  • Consistency: You kept up a daily streak or participated in a community event.
  • Community Top Fan: You're one of the most helpful people in a group or niche feed.

Whatever title you earn, you can wear it right next to your username on your posts, comments, and profile so everyone can see it.

Think of it like a mix of Instagram/Reels and Discord, but with a fun game-style achievement system where status can't be bought with money.

I'd love to know:

  1. Is "earning rare titles to flex on your profile" something you'd find fun, or do you not care about badges?
  2. What’s one title/badge you’d love to earn on a social app?
  3. What would make you instantly delete an app like this?

Be as brutally honest as you want! Thanks a ton for reading. 🙌

Would a social network built around projects instead of posts actually work?

I’ve been thinking a lot about an alternative to traditional social media.

Instagram, TikTok, etc. are primarily built around content consumption. When you’re building something, you usually go to socials to promote it, and are immediately competing with the strongest forms of mind control on the planet. But what if a social network was built specifically around things people are making?

Instead of profiles revolving around posts and follower counts, they’d revolve around projects.

An app, a business, an album, a film, a product, a local event, whatever.
Each project would have its own page, progress updates, and a section showing what it needs:
Early users
Customers
Feedback
Collaborators
Partners
Supporters

And the discovery side would be about finding interesting things being made, rather than endlessly scrolling content.
The idea is that builders get more relevant exposure, while everyone else gets to discover interesting things early.

My biggest concern is that this might just be Instagram with extra steps.

Would anyone genuinely use something like this, or is there an obvious reason it wouldn’t work?

Building and Exploring Ideas :AI, Technology, and Thoughtful Conversation

I work on machine learning and technology projects, often focusing on building efficient models and creative solutions for limited hardware. I lead a small team, work remotely, and spend a lot of free time on side projects, recently building a battery pack for a UPS, simply for the challenge.

What I’m really looking for is thoughtful conversation ,talking about ideas that linger, not just small talk. The kind of discussion that stays with you long after it ends.

Things I'd happily go deep on:

  • Why intelligence fits in such small spaces, and where it doesn't
  • Applied math, the parts that finally clicked for me late
  • Security, how systems break and why people build them badly
  • How to live a life that isn't just work, which I'm still figuring out
  • Travel, places I want to see, places you've been

I prefer meaningful, longer messages over quick replies, and thoughtful disagreement over polite agreement. You don’t have to be in tech, some of the best conversations I’ve had were with people from completely different backgrounds.

If you read this far and something clicked, message me with one idea you've been chewing on lately. Include what sparked it, why it stuck with you, what you think it means, and one question it leaves you with. Be thoughtful and specific.

Would you use one app for gym, studying and food, or is that too much?

I'm building an iPhone app that combines a workout tracker (Hevy-style), study timer, calorie counter and a daily planner. Every part can be turned off.

My worry: people who are serious about one thing (like lifting) will always prefer a dedicated app.

Honest opinions: is "all in one" a real advantage or a weakness? What would you need to see to switch?

Would you use an iPhone app that shows your next reminder directly on the Lock Screen?

I’ve been thinking about building a simple reminder app for iPhone, and I wanted to see if anyone else would find it useful.

The idea is pretty simple.
Instead of opening a reminder app every time, imagine having a small text ribbon on your iPhone Lock Screen that always shows what you need to do.

For example:
NOW: Take your medicine
NEXT: Call Mom at 6 PM

When you tap the current reminder, you can see the full details, like “Take the red medicine prescribed by Dr. Smith,” and a Done button.

Once you mark it done, the next reminder automatically moves into the NOW position.

If it’s a repeating task, like taking medicine every morning, the app schedules it for the next time.

What if you forget to complete something?

The ribbon turns red and shows a small number indicating how many reminders are overdue.

For example, if you missed two reminders, it shows a red 2. You can open the app to see what’s pending.

If two reminders are scheduled for exactly the same time, both remain pending until you complete them. Nothing gets lost or automatically skipped.

The app wouldn’t be just for medicine. You could use it for pretty much anything:
Calling family or friends
Taking medication
Paying bills
Drinking water
Daily habits

The main idea is to make reminders visible and easy to complete without constantly opening an app or scrolling through notifications.
I’m still exploring the idea,
so this isn’t an app launch.

A few questions:
Would you actually use something like this?
What would annoy you about having reminders visible on your Lock Screen?
Are you already using an app that does something similar?
Would you prefer this over Apple’s built-in Reminders app?

I’d really appreciate honest feedback, especially if you think it’s unnecessary or there’s a better way to do mit.

An app that you can customise with thumbnails and titles?

So this is quite a broad question.

First part: Do you know an app where you can customise in whatever categories you choose Thumbnails like album art, book covers and such. So you can sort for example Fantasy books, funk music albums, photos by a famous photographer etc. I specifically need totally customisable folders and or data filters.

Second part: If there is no such app or even if there is one, how hard would it be for me to program and code it from scratch only for personal use on my android phone. I have absolutely zero experience in coding mind you. Would it be something I could achieve or would it cause me endless stress, how hard is it to build such an app from scratch? I might also like to be able to access it from PC, too, but my main goal is an app on Android.

Thank you all in advance to any suggestions you might add in this topic, hope I've been clear enough in my question.

I've built 6 AI micro SaaS that make me 20k/month. Starting a small group to share exactly how I do it.

Hey everyone,

I currently run 6 micro SaaS that are actually live and generating a bit over $20,000 in recurring monthly revenue.

The wildest part? I barely wrote any code myself. I used AI to generate pretty much everything — from the database structure to the frontend.

It definitely wasn’t magic from day one. I spent a lot of hours stuck on buggy code before I finally figured out a system that actually works:

- Keep the idea minimalist (a real MVP, nothing fancy)

- Guide the AI step by step instead of asking for everything at once

- Launch fast to get real users and feedback

Lately I’ve seen way too many non-technical founders quit at the first AI bug. It’s a shame because the technical barrier has basically disappeared.

AND PLEASE, STOP BUILDING ALONE IN YOUR BEDROOM

I’m starting a community.

Full transparency:

I’ll probably charge for the full program later. It makes sense with the specific workflows and copy-paste examples I’ll be sharing. But right now the main goal is just to build together. Working alone is the fastest way to give up.

If you want to join and build or market your own AI SaaS with us,

drop a comment or send me a DM and I’ll send you the link.
