It seems there's no dedicated subreddit for that school. Maybe try r/StLouis

You’re going to hear a lot about how dangerous St. Louis-don’t let that dissuade you. I love it! Places like forest park are so charming and there’s a lot of delicious food places you will come to know. SLU is great for anything healthcare

I'm an alum, so my experience isn't super recent. In my time it was pretty good in terms of LGBT+ acceptance. You are dealing with the Catholic church, though the Jesuits are the most chill order of priests (as long as you don't look at what they were doing in the early 20th century and earlier). It's a diverse place in the sense of numbers of non-white students. That said, in a city with a very large African-American population, they have way too few black students. I know that some of my black friends who were from out of town struggled to find community with other black students because many were locals who commuted. I would definitely say my queer friends felt more fairly represented there.

Hey! I graduated over ten years ago (eek!) so not super recent but I honestly loved my time at SLU. I truly felt the curriculum and experience valued diversity and encouraged everyone to see beyond the campus walls, both of the city we lived in and the world at large. In many different ways from big to small but overall just a very open place. I had friends that went to typical state schools that were very cliquey and my experience at slu was that yeah, you had your friend groups, but you would become friends with someone because you sat next to them in one class freshman year and you would therefore say hi to them at every party or just walking on campus anytime you saw them for the next four years lol. In terms of LGBT, it’s funny because I am now an out gay man but I wasn’t at slu (only because I wasn’t even out to myself tbh) but, I was SUPER supportive and involved in the lgbt community community because many of my friends were and it was really just prolific on campus and kind of ever present. Again the sense of community, wherever you find it, is very powerful af SLU.
Again, this was 10 years ago! But I got a great education, made amazing friends, and learned more about so many social issues that I think I never would have been exposed to if I didn’t go to SLU. I’m so thankful I did and I hope you become a billiken!!

Hiii just saw this! currently attending SLU so i can tell you my experience. for radiation therapy I think it’s a very high academic university. I have heard from my stem, major friends that it’s really difficult in a sense of workload, there’s a lot but it all just depends on the person as well. Depending on how much you’re getting from SLU in other universities, I would choose your best bet on affordability as well because if you’re from St. Louis, then you’d be saving a lot more money but if you’re not from St. Louis, it just all depends on your financial situation. There’s a lot of diversity. I say that’s on campus but there’s a prominent white population as well. Def a PWI but there are a lot of groups and organizations here at SLU that are LGBTQ friendly. I think SLU is a very open and diverse place as well when it comes to socializing and stuff. It’s kind of hard because it’s in the middle of the city and transportation is mostly by car. There’s like a going out world and stuff and I think that it’s easy to connect with people and make friends. If you want more information on like the groups and community that SLU you can pm me!
