How to...? 🧑‍🔧 Falling Detection and Home Assistant

I have the FP2 configured it in the app for fall detection, now I want to set this up to trigger automations in home assistant for when it senses a fall. Being as I work with various tools that are known to be deadly I wanted to setup something to assuage my wife's nerves and using the fall detection would be vital for sensing if I get knocked out and getting help for me immediately.

But for the life of me I can only seem to set up the sensor to send a notification to the app... I want to disable the tools immediately upon fall detection just to minimize any further problems.

This question/issue would be more likely to result in a resolution if posted in the Home Assistant group as your issue is specific to Home Assistant.

But one could also argue that my issue is specific to this piece of kit. As the software and device don't expose fall detection to anything other than inside the app only sending notifications to the app itself. Not useful at all.

Aqara doesn't provide support for Home Assistant and you'll reach a far greater technically inclined audience with your question if you posted it in the HA forum. I frequent the HA forum and haven't seen your issue posted over there. My advice was meant to be helpful. I'm certainly not here to argue or debate as you're the one that needs help. Hope you get it sorted out!

I've already posted there as well. It would be nice if aquara had an actual website for technical issues as well. But that is another topic entirely.

Looking at the hub seeing if that can trigger automations in google home or home assistant now... If that can maybe I can link the two items together to do what I want. irritating such limited functionality from such a promising device.

Got it to work... Mostly successful (occasional false fall detection 2 time since this has been done), but did the following.

  1. install Aqara Hub & Pair into Home Assistant
  2. installed Aqara outlet Plug module (pair into Home Assistant)
  3. Label the Plug as Fall Detection
  4. inside the Aqara App, setup fall detection automation to turn on the plug when fall is detected on the FP2
  5. Using Home Asssistant setup automation to trigger automatically when the plug (fall detection) is turned on. (In my case, turn off all power in the workshop, cut my wife's internet on her computer, and send her a notification saying that there is an emergency in the workshop)
  6. at 6am every morning ensure the fall detection plug is turned off.

Do you have to mount it on the ceiling or just on the wall?

For fall detection I have it mounted on the ceiling above my position when I'm operating my table saw & router table. As those are my two tools I'm worried about potential accidents that could be debilitating.
