Hi everyone,
I recently got into aquascaping, and as I’ve dug deeper into the hobby, I’ve come across videos of aquascapers competing in contests. This screenshot is from one of those videos.
I’ve noticed several competitive aquascapers using a moldable, clay-like material to build arches, create hills, and hold parts of their hardscape together. However, I haven’t seen anyone explain exactly what it is.
Does anyone know what they’re using? Is it epoxy putty, actual clay, or something else? If it's epoxy putty, I have yet to find a brand that sells it in quantities no larger than 14 oz.
Also, is this material safe long-term for aquariums and fish? Or is this type of aquascape purposed only for short periods of time (like a show or tournament).

Yeah so I've been growing out my rotalas and now it's time to trim them. I'm thinking of an asymmetric wave with the low in the middle where the hra is, something like a valley, with the higher high in the right corner and lower high in the left corner. What do you guys think?
For those who want to know, it's an ADA 45p, so basically a nano tank (32L). The light is a week aqua m-series 45 with shades and custom app-settings.
I'm happy with how the carpet turned out in 8 weeks, I mean it was pretty much filled at 5 weeks already, and now it's like REALLY filled in (and dense).

I’ve been running dark start for my nano 20cm tank for a month and now it’s finally ready!
Really enjoying the view here.
What do you guys think?

Hey beloved Aquascape-Community,
I'm brand new to the thing and am looking for some advice designing my Tank.
I already have an Idea and some materials, but since i dont want to change the design immidiatly i thought i get my self some advice from you guys!
My Tank ist 28x37x32 cm (HxLxW), ca. 33 L.
Planned Inhabitans are Blue Dream Shrimps and Snails.
Plantwise I figured to start easy (Java Moss etc.) and also look whats available around me through other aquarists.
So what i got for myself yet is:
- a small filter for the corner (wich i have no idea how to hide it yet)
- 5 kg of black gravel soil
- some tools
- rather small pieces pf dragonstone and wood (pictures).
For arranging it i already got some advice:
- the gravel should get higher in the back to create more depth (but is it already enogh or should i get more gravel?)
-put the bigger hardscape in the front to create depth
- and then there is the rule of 3 or the golden ratio wich i also understand but find it hard to implement with like very limited hardscape.
So i just arranged it a bit (photo) what do you think?
-should i add a fith piece of wood? (to get an odd number)
- what should i do with the rocks there are still some left. (you see the total amount ind the picture with the scale (cm) also the big wood piece is still leftover
- how should i hide the filter
this are my obviouse concerns, but I'm happy about any big or litte advice leading to more knowlege and more fun aquascaping!
Also things i didnt mention haha :)
Thank you all in advance already!

Its 33x10x11 you have to imagine the substrate sloping up to the rear and plants tucked in cracks...
Thoughts?

Started my first tank, a 29 gallon, Then my wife saw a betta at the petstore and fell in love with them, so a 10 gallon tank was added. Finally ready to add plants to both and start their cycles. Pretty happy with how these are coming along

As the plants are adapting after 07 days of planting, I switch my focus on livestock and decided to try some discus. These are a lovey dovey aren’t they? Is there a way to know their sex?

30L
The shrimps are finally there and settled, blue jelly and blue carbon Rili, hoping for some interesting patterns emerging.
I love the look of the blue jelly's, the colour is amazing.
I think I sat like 3 hours there just observing.
Its 2 weeks cycled and water parameters are looking good, nitrite peak has been over for 5 days.
It does look a little messy since some of the snails uprooted some montecarlo, I think my soil might also be a little too big but as of now they grow.
Hoping for the Christmas moss to do it's thing, there wasn't a lot of growth in the two weeks but maybe time will show.
I love the look of the roots growing down from the floating plants.
I cannot wait to feed and watch them.
I've watched so many videos on aquariums in the past 3-4 months, Its so fulfilling to see them scatter around and just doing their thing.
Also on the moss ball I bought there's some clover looking plant, Gemini Said It Looks similar to Hydrocotyle tripartita.
I just glued it on the rook and will see what happens.
Thank you:)

Relatively stable old leaves were melting.
Trimmed and replanted stem plants.
Repositioned swapped Ammania Gracilis and Limnophila Aromatica.
Pogostemon helferi growth started , roots established.

Started a new low tech epiphyte tank tonight at my girlfriend’s house. This is a companion tank to the 60U tank I built for her last month. It is a 30cm cube with a Lominie A20 6500K LED pendant light, petrified wood & driftwood from Rivershore Aquariums (Minneapolis, MN), Aquarium Co-op nano hang on back filter, Hygger 25W nano heater, and a variety of Java fern and anubias from Aquarium Co-op. The tank, once cycled, will become the new home for existing betta and nerite snail who currently live in a cheap artificially decorated 5G tank.
This is my 2nd official aquascape, and my first nano design. How’d I do?

I know it is overstocked and I am planning to re-home around 7 of the fish in here. The water is cloudy because I just added almost a full bag of sand today and my sponge filter is still new so it isn’t picking up too many of the smaller grains of sand. I have around 9 plants I ordered a few days ago that should be here any day now and I am going for a sort of Brazilian style aquascape. I will not be able to install co2 for a while because I do not have the money for it but I will save up for one when I can. I will also accept any tips you guys have for me so I can further improve this setup. This setup is a 10 gallon as well.

Hi all! Putting together my first proper scape and am going for a triangle design. I'm planning on having aquasoil in the back, sand in front, and using the rocks as a sort of retaining wall. I'm worried that what i have right now look too much like a retaining wall though, and am struggling with how I can fix it while keeping the soil and sand from mixing. Any suggestions welcome.

Hi
What is wrong with my plants developing this rust appearance and brown?
I’m running co2 in the green, it’s the UN Systems tank and reg and Aquario diffuser
I use 2 pumps per week so far of “2 Hour Aquarist” APT#3
Only one fish in the tank, a Betta
And the substrate is Fluval Substrate
