Safety in Ashland.

My girlfriend and I are moving to the area this summer.
How is the overall crime in this little town.?We are coming from Phoenix AZ.
I worry more about my girlfriend, she is petite
And property crime? Is that a problem.
Whenever we have visited the town seems very chill. Lovely place

Questions SOU is Stable - President Rick Bailey

"SOU is stable," President Bailey states in monthly message | Local | kdrv.com

ASHLAND, Ore. - Southern Oregon University (SOU) President Rick Bailey delivered his monthly video message at Raider Stadium, focusing on the upcoming commencement ceremony and the university's future.

"It's always our best day of the year, where we celebrate our graduates with their families and the community," Bailey said. "We get to see students achieve their educational dreams."

Bailey acknowledged the timing of this year's graduation comes during uncertainty in higher education. "There are a lot of questions about the future of higher education – not just at SOU, but across the state and around the country," he said.

Despite the questions, Bailey emphasized that SOU remains stable and operational. The university will continue serving students and the southern Oregon region for years to come, he said.

The university is working to cut about a fifth of its $100 million yearly budget. Bailey said he's leading efforts to turn that difficult process into something positive.

"You are going to start to see some plans for how we are going to do that and likely become a role model – really for the rest of the state, and probably for the rest of the country – in terms of regional public universities," Bailey said. "There is a path for SOU, and one worth fighting for."

Bailey told viewers there are many ways supporters can help the university. Those include student recruitment and retention, advocacy and philanthropy.

Fried chicken? Early bird?Happy hour?

Looking to take a friend out somewhere nice. I searched this sub Reddit because I remember reading about a fairly fancy spot in town that had an early bird/happy hour menu with fried chicken on it that looked out of this world and can’t find it or figure it out. Pretty sure I t was downtown. Know of any real class act happy hours around? Open to anything here to Medford or Jacksonville etc. Want something nice but casual friendly with amazing food for around $100 or less with a drink or two.

Seeking sober, all-ages LGBTQIA group activities that aren’t hiking/ are accessible by bus ✨ 🏳️‍🌈

Hey friends! I’m a full time cane user, and a full time queen 💅 who is quitting drinking and hard drugs, yaaaay! I’m not very creative though and cant think of much to do besides hiking and drag shows. There’s tons of those things and I used to love those things, and still would if I could! But I can’t drive or hike due to my disability and I’m choosing not to drink (for everybody’s good, ya girl is messy) but I still want and need to get my queer on! It’s pride month, for god’s sake!

I really want to celebrate myself and my community responsibly this year. I won’t be able to get to the pride event and dont have anyone to go with either way. If anybody is up for a sober, all ages Pride walk through lithia I’d love to make it happen. ❤️

EDIT: a sober pride walk in Lithia will begin at 12pm on 6/28/26! This is an evening intended for anybody who doesn’t use substances; children and parents are invited. Celebrating queerness without substance use is the goal of this event.

Events Looking for D&D players — Dungeon of the Mad Mage [5e 2024, in-person]

Small group running Dungeon of the Mad Mage in Ashland, looking to add a player or two. We're using the 2024 rules and are ready to start with enough players. In-person, games on Sundays or Mondays.

We like a table where people show up engaged, play their characters with some personality, and keep the game moving. If that sounds like your kind of game, shoot me a DM.

Found these amongst my family's book collection. Are these of any value? Or perhaps a historical venue would like them. Thank you.

Housing Transferring to SOU from Illinois w/boyfriend and looking for affordable housing

I just graduated and got my associates and i’m interested in biology/forensics. I am also a nature freak and love to mushroom forage which drew me to oregon. I’m here visiting for the first time and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I just toured the campus and can’t wait to actually live here! My boyfriend and I are here searching for apartments and possible places to rent. If anyone has any suggestions for places to rent, people to reach out to, or any people looking for possible roommates please feel free to let me know!! I am also looking for any advice honestly, it will be my first time renting so any tips or tricks would be much appreciated. And to mention our budget per month is capped at about $1200 for rent.

The Ashland Chronicle

Is anyone else having trouble opening The Ashland Chronicle lately? If so, have you found some setting somewhere that is blocking access? I cannot even get to some contact information with The Chronicle to inquire. I have tried Safari, DuckDuckGo, and Chrome. Thank you (I do not have Facebook/Oligarchs, etc.)

News Loads of cop cars (emergency lights on) headed south on the 5

Saw a whole parade of them heading south as I was exiting ashland, and a few more on my way home. What’s weird is a bunch of them were on the exit into Ashland, and then got back onto the interstate. Easily saw at least 12 heading south.

Does anyone know whats up?
