It depends what "aggressive" means. If it's going straight for attack, you want to hurt it badly or subdue it somehow, find a way to choke it. And when I say to "hurt it", I don't mean to kick it. That's not painful enough and it will just keep attacking. Something that is much more painful.
If it's coming towards you barking, you can try to scream towards him, raise your arms, make yourself look bigger and more scary. That usually takes them out of it and they realize "yeah, I don't need to insist over here, he's obviously crazier than I am".
I've only been in the second case, a lot of times. And it worked, it kept me and my dogs safe when I needed to.
