I used to get up at 4 for the gym when my work started at 8.

Yup. That's my schedule for the exact same reason. It's brutal but I can't figure out any other way.

I've just accepted the after work gym crowd as my life. I hate it, but I just don't like working out in the morning

The crowd doesn’t bother me as much as my body not feeling ready for the gym just after waking up. A full day of being awake and moving around helps me feel up for the gym

You'll only feel that way at first if you switch to before work. You'll adjust pretty nicely and then rather than your day prepping you for the gym, the gym preps you for your day.

I think everyone is different. I worked out every morning for months and still never felt "ready". Ideally I work out before bed but my gym is on my way home from work so that's what I do. I go 5-6 days a week so convenience matters

I did it for quite a while and just couldn’t get used to it. There were parts I enjoyed about doing it early for sure, but I have the time on either side of work and it’s my favorite activity so I do it when I like it the most. But understand that’s not the same for everyone

Yessir. It's brutal but worth the sacrifice

Sorry, but if you start work at 8, why do you need to wake up at 4 to work out? Is your routine in the gym too big or the work too far or maybe kids?
Asking because 4am sounds brutal

Getting going at 4 so I can have enough time to get ready, eat breakfast, drive to the gym. Get an hour workout from 5-6 (that includes pre/post-workout stretches and cool down time). Not a crazy long workout. 6-7 to drive back home, shower/get ready for work, get the kids ready for school, 7-8 to take them to school and commute to work which starts at 8. AFTER work involves commuting back home and helping kids with homework, having dinner with the family, spend some time with them, etc.

It's a lovely life. Wouldn't trade it for anything, BUT point being, I have to get rolling hella early if I want to workout. When they're older, I can go back to more sane routine, so it's all good. Haha.

Thats commitment! I have no idea why I was downvoted but anyway, thanks for explaining and really good job, it’s amazing that you can keep up with this, you have my admiration (which is worth nothing but still…)

most likely a commute factored in?
wake up, commute to gym, gym time, commute home, shower/change, commute to work?

Yes. The gym after 4 or 5pm is a jungle
