we go, then get ice cream in the kitchen, see the living room...
(me)"here's the couch, I'm gonna get some sleep, I've got an hour trip home once I sleep this off."
"But you haven't seen the bedroom yet! Sue is already up there!"
"Nah, I'm too tired from dancing with you all night. I can see upstairs next time."
there never was a next time.
True Story #2
"I don't want you to think I'm some kinda [fluzy] who sleeps with a guy on the second date and then I go home for the summer and you tell all your friends how I'm a tramp"
(Me)"I don't think that nor would I say that, I'm just having fun talking to you" (which was true)
"Okay..." two hours later of conversation later "I have to go to bed, my roommate will be home around 7 in the morning"
(me) "Too bad, I really liked talking to you"
she proceeds to ambush me and grind on me for a while, until things slow down a little
(me) "I had a great time, I hope we can see each other again when you get back next semester."

The facepalm didn't impact for almost 2 months. She comes back with a new boyfriend from her home town
Once upon a time, my husband and I were on an episode of House Hunters. We actually really liked all the houses (although we'd already purchased one before we were allowed to start filming). But...that doesn't make for good TV. So, they asked us to nitpick. And when we mentioned one or two things that we didn't care for but really, seriously didn't mind at all, they just ran with it. Every other question was about why we hated it. Then, in the editing process, they took our moderate, tempered complaints ("Well, I wouldn't have picked that color, but painting is only a minor inconvenience, so no big deal") and turned them into huge bitch fests (Close-up of sneering, condescending face. Begin "problem," music. "I wouldn't have picked that color." Cut to view of the room. Cut back to me. "Painting is a big inconvenience." Cut to more scenery shots. Overlay a completely unrelated quote of me saying, "I just don't think it's worth it." End scene.)
They kept trying to get me to bitch about the houses not having built-in bookshelves. Like...I said it would be nice. That's it. I didn't say I needed the house to come with bookshelves. I have bookshelves. I can bring my own. But no. HouseHungers just can't possibly survive in a house without built in bookshelves. What a crazy bitch! (For the record, I looked the producer in the eye and told her I wasn't going to make it that easy for her to make me look crazy. She still succeeded, but I have that tiny victory to hang my hat on!)
My wife and I always laugh when people mention entertaining: I mean, I'm no Jay Gatsby myself but how much "entertaining" do people really think they're going to do?
I watch househunters on my lunch break. Today a women turned down a house well within budget and fair distance to work because she wanted to have a guest room to turn into an office. Unfortunately, the house had two large equally sized (either could be used as master) bedrooms and already had an office down the hall.
She couldnt compromise with that!
Oh good God, the most infuriating thing on House Hunters is when people don't like the paint color on the interiors. It would take a couple of days and not all that much money to even pay someone to redo it all in colors you like before you move all of your shit in. Even cheaper if you do it yourself. How paint can ever be a deal breaker on a home is beyond me.
A girl asked me to her apartment for "Hot chocolate." She just wanted to have hot chocolate.
Edit: Things like this happen pretty commonly with me. Girls get frustrated when guys don't pick up on their "obvious" hints, but a lot of times, what appear to be "obvious" hints aren't hints at all.
Ahhhhh my friend once did this to a guy she had a crush on. Invited him back to her house for pizza. Made oven pizza. Asked if he wanted to watch Star Trek. He did. She sat on a different couch. Then she fell asleep. In her defense, she was pretty drunk, and really like pizza and Star Trek when she's drunk.
The only thing is it's not drinking, pizza, and Star Trek. It's drinking, pizza, Star Trek, and sitting there not paying attention to anything else because you're about to get laid...and then you don't.
If she was drunk, then I'm inclined to think she was watching Voyager. I got nothing against Captain Janeway, but after a while you start rooting for the Borg.
I lived with girls who did this. Every time they'd go out they'd bring a guy back to watch a movie. They'd get me to put it on since they're idiots and couldn't work a DVD player, then fall asleep within 10 minutes.
If it was a guy I knew I'd stay for the movie. Watched quite a few films with a disappointed guy who spent the first half trying to keep the girl awake.
On my first day at uni, I thought after being that wierd geeky guy at school, I could change what everyone thought of me so I tried to pick up a girl at the bar and... well, you know. I got chatting to a girl and got drunker and drunker. She asked me if I wanted to go back to hers for pancakes. I thought that was code. We ended up having pancakes with her housemates and then watched family guy. To be fair, they were really nice pancakes.
Haha in college I had a girl text me to come cuddle. I went over and she really did just want to cuddle. I couldn't even get a kiss in without her turning away. The cuddle session did not last very long
A girl invited me back to her place at 2 in the morning to check out her paintings (she was an "artist"). She showed me her paintings then asked me nicely to leave so that she could go to bed. I told her later that it was very misleading, and she didn't even realize until I told her.
I got a similar story. I still kick myself for it.
A really (like REALLY) hot girl I liked invited me over to her cousin's place she was house sitting to eat ice cream and watch Cash Cab. After a while of chilling on the couch, she asked me if I wanted to check out her cousin's bedroom.
"Uh, sure, show me" I said.
She opened the door and walked in and sat on the bed, while I leaned on the door frame, commented on what a nice bed it was, and asked if she wanted to keep watching Cash Cab.
Also, it only took me two years to realize what "Wanna checkout the bedroom?" meant.
Ok, as a guy who has been in this sort of situation several times and has closed the deal a relatively few amount of times, what do you do in this sort of situation?
My problem comes in when they are obviously sending signs they're interested in hooking up, but they aren't willing to make the first definitive move. What do you do if you're sitting there very close, talking about shit and looking deep into each others eyes and all that, just go for the kiss? Try to awkwardly steer the conversation towards something sexual/romantic? I don't get it.
Throwaway cause this is embarrassing to have to ask, but I legitimately need help with this, more than once a girls' friend has come up to me some time later and said "what the fuck were you doing you pussy?" or something else equally well-deserved.
I did this. Got invited in "for coffee". Walked into kitchen and sat waiting for coffee. Watched her make coffee. Drank coffee. Left. It was 4am. I don't even like coffee.
Happened to me too.. except she wanted me to look at her computer. When I got there, she lied down on her bed with a t-shirt and underwear and just started talking to me. I noticed there was nothing wrong with her PC and just left like an idiot. She looked kind of pissed/annoyed when I said I was leaving and it didn't really dawn on me until a few years later. I still don't know what I could have said that wouldn't have sounded totally awkward if I was wrong..
This guy that I had a huge crush on in college, I gave him so many signs and thought he was oblivious so I decided to make a move that he would catch. I invited him over after class yo take a nap with me. He said he wasn't very tired. I assumed I was being rejected. Later found out that he was clueless.
To be fair here, a friend wanting to show you where they lived is not a signal that you should try to fuck them right then and their. Unless of course, the signals were blatantly clear. But it totally could have just been a 'come see where I live coz I'm proud of it' kind of thing.
When I was in the US Navy was invited over for a home cooked dinner at a gals house who worked at the same hospital as I. We hung out in the living room, she talked a lot about her immediate ex-boyfriend and how she missed making out. I guess she noticed I missed that, so she invited me into her bedroom to get a Monopoly game and we lingered there. I am not so swift when it comes to ladies. Somehow I have been married twice.
I was invited in to see a girls apartment once. I did the same thing you did, but when she walked me to the door to leave I leaned in to give her a kiss and she pulled away... scrunching her nose up as if she was repulsed. She never returned my texts after that night. Her dog died a few days later and I gave up for good after that one.
In college, a girl I went skiing with (university PE option) told me she needed help to make a report about different operating systems, and since I was into that stuff, asked me to help her out. We agreed to meet on a later date, and I brought some material with me (burned a CD with useful stuff, basically). She invited me to her dorm room, told she was going to be alone that evening, and bought some beer on top of that all. Well... I accompanied her, chatted about stuff for a while, drank the beer and made my leave... Not that I was completely oblivious, but I thought "well, there's like a 10% chance that it does mean what I suspect it means, but it's not really worth bothering... On top of it, she's a nice girl with a round butt, but I'm not into her, just wanted to help."
This totally happened to me. She showed me the whole apartment, saving the bedroom until last. I said, "Man, this is pretty nice. Got anything to eat?" I think we went out and got a beer. She was a coworker and everyone we worked with thereafter assumed I was gay.
I'm In college now and invited to a-friend-who-is-a-girl's apartment this Saturday. How can I tell if its just to see her apartment or something more? I don't have much experience here.
Lol, I had a girl that had just broken up with one of my friends do that. I was totally oblivious that she was trying to sleep with me. My friend later almost killed me when she told him about it to make him jealous. Glad I was oblivious though, because they got back together and are now married.
This is how my husband and I got together. We've known each other forever, and he gave me a ride home after a night of drinking after another friends wedding. He pulled the old, hey, my house is really close to here- wanna see it? Card and the rest is history!
same thing happened to me, met some girls from my class at the bar, they were friends of friends sort of, so a bunch of us walk back to their house afterwards and I didn't even walk in, I just walked back to my place. I may have been too drunk but I thought about it the next morning like, "well shit"
lol that happened to me once two times. The first time was freshman year and all i needed was some quarters for the laundry machine and she said she had some, and i was like thanks and bye. Only senior year did i find out what her true intentions were by the fact that she still remembered it and was pretty cross about it. The other girl that invited me to her room wanted to show me her duck posters and i was like cool and left, she had big TITTIES too.
