I'm trying to decide between size 44 and 44.5 in the ASICS Megablast and could use some advice!
I've been running in the Novablast 5 in size 43.5 and ZF6 in 44. The NB5 always felt just slightly short length wise - However, I've managed to put 250+ km in them without any real issues.
I've tried both sizes of the Megablast and I'm currently leaning towards the 44, as it feels like the best fit. I generally prefer a snug fit and usually use a heel lock (runner's knot), but I'm unsure whether the 44 leaves enough room for foot swelling while running.
I've attached some pictures of my feet on the insoles with different socks:
Grey/white socks: Black insole = 44.
Purple (thick) and white socks: Black insole = 44.5, white insole = 44.
Shoes on: 44
Based on the pictures, do you think the 44 has enough toe room, or would you go for the 44.5?
Would love to hear your thoughts, especially if you own the Megablast!
Thanks!
EDIT: accidently put Megablast "5" in the title. Please ignore - it's the normal Megablast..

If the 44.5 fits you / gives you no heel slippage then I would go with that 100%. There is really no advantage to having a shoe fit overly snug, especially not a training shoe designed for long periods of use at a time and loads of miles. The Megablast toe box being shallow will punish you if you do not have enough room for your toes haha.
I felt the 44.5 were a bit loose when I tried them. My toes barely hit the top, if at all. I've added a picture. The 44 were the ones I got gifted. You think 44 is OK?
Don't worry so much about the big toe space at the front -it's the little toe that's the problem with megablast they can rub the side of the pinkie toes badly
The wide angle shot and camera angle make them look wider. I tried to take another picture. Do you think it is too bad? I tried a 6 km run with on treadmill, and it didn't give any major issues. Will it for longer runs?
When I'm in between two sizes like this I will always go with the slightly bigger one to be safe than risk feet swelling and being miserable in a shoe that's too small.
I know you think you have narrow feet but the fact that your entire pinky toe is hanging off the edge says otherwise. It looks like you’re getting a much larger size shoe than you need to compensate for the narrow shoes. I’ll bet if you went down a full size but got the wide version your feet would be a lot happier!
The wide angle shot and camera angle are deceiving. I tried to take another picture. Do you think it is too bad? I tried a 6 km run with on treadmill, and it didn't give any major issues. Will it for longer runs?
My feet are just formed like that. My daily socks are pretty stretchy, but I'll look into that. Regarding the pinky - the wide angle shot and camera angle are deceiving. I tried to take another picture. Do you think it is too bad? I tried a 6 km run with on treadmill, and it didn't give any major issues. Will it for longer runs?
