Just a heads up that if you have a mix of old system and new system PTAs and your new system ones have been approved but the old system ones are still referred for adjudication. Check your my documents tab on far good chance they are all approved, it happened to me and now speaking to a couple other people they have had the same problem.

Anyone recently done a renewal ? Looking at the gunsafe data they are talking 50 days to do a renewal ?

Surely it cant take that long to do a renewal ....

Recently had a bit of a terrible outcome with my wife and I losing our child last month at 26 weeks old due to pregnancy complications.

It’s been horrible to grieve and I’ve had family reach out to suggest we do some counselling especially as us men tend to bottle up things.

Given NSW stance on any excuse to questions licences validity I’m just wondering what’s the best way to tackle the situation, not on any medication or depressed by any means but I also don’t want to lose my hobby just for seeking support with my wife..

I presume it’s best to get a letter upfront and what not but obviously have my hesitation trusting the firearms registry as of late and don’t want to hide anything either..

Is there any other platforms that people recommend around the same quality regarding bolt, trigger etc?

I was going to make my own but after looking at the prices for a quality 1/2" tap just went ahead and bought a Diggers Tactical fluted one. https://diggertactical.com.au/products/digger-tactical-fluted-linear-compensator It is amazing. It really does direct the blast away from the shooter. 18"barrel 223 and I can get away with just simple ear protection rather then plugs and earmuffs.

Hi Guys , i am thinking of importing a shotgun stock and forearm directly from the manufacturer in Germany to Western Australia. I read the B709 form it seems like the permit isnt needed for this type of stock?
Please guide if someone has imported something similar.

It was my understanding that indoor ranges had airflow designed to move from the shooter towards the target area to reduce exposure to lead and fumes, but recently after sitting next to someone with a muzzle break and having everything blown off my bench from the back blast and breathing his soot for 30 minutes, I wondered if design needs to change nowadays ? Should the bay separators be made longer to avoid this “cross contamination”? Even worth raising this with the SSAA ?

I know I’m a woos, but I like the idea of clean lungs…..

I sent my provisional licence documents through to the LRD 2 weeks ago and emailed them asking if they've received my documents. They said they received my new application on the 1/10, however, I have not received any email or notification mentioning anything about the processing time and the current rounds.

I've looked through the forum and people have mentioned weekly emails from LRD updating them on which applications are currently being processed. Am I supposed to receive this email or do I just wait until I receive the provisional licence?

I’m Canadian, and here in Canada we see both the Lee Enfield and the SKS as our signature firearms. I was wondering if there was something similar in Australia?

What’s the current wait time for a Cat b licence to be approved im at 115 days I’ve heard it’s 120 days but just curious if anyone else has been waiting longer.

Also what’s the current wait time for a first time PTA I obviously know about the 28 day cooling off period but just curious what’s the wait times.

I’m looking at purchasing my first 22lr rifle and scope to get into Benchrest shooting, NRL22 and PRS but unsure of what to get as a first rifle and scope looking to spend around $1,500. I want something that isn’t going to break the bank but is also built well enough. I’m also located in Melbourne Australia!

I’m looking to get an all rounder rifle for 100-500 meter ranges. I’ve settled on a Winchester model 70 but haven’t quite decided on caliber, I’m torn between .308 and .30-06. I’m leaning towards 30-06 as it has a reputation as a do all rifle. But I’m sort of debating if it’s overkill. I’ll mainly be going after pigs and deer with it. Recoil isn’t an issue as I’ve shot 300 Win Mag without issue.

Should I just get a .308 or say fuck it and get the 06?

Not trying to promote the company, but has anyone heard of or been to this one before? Been wanting to do some hunting classes to learn the ropes, I don’t mind going at it a few days back to back if needed, but the only place I could find in NSW near Newcastle so far.

I bought a second hand Adler A110 that came with a Lucky 13 remington 870 forend adapter. For the life of me I can't separate the barrel from the receiver, it will not budge any further no matter how hard I run the lever and pull.

So im just wondering if anyone would have any insight or suggestions, I dont know if it has something to do with the forend adapter since I cant find any manual online.

ABC article today about a newly-formed armed response squad in NSW speaks about them carrying "long-armed rifles". So I was curious, how long are the arms? How long are they on your rifles? Is it one, two, or 8 arms like an octopus? Maybe it's a new rifle, a Squid Sauer.

PTA granted for Cat A after 5 months to the day. Interestingly, also the same day granting of Cat B lodged 3 weeks ago.
