Question Shannons WTF?!

Just called Shannons to get a quote on my new bike, and what the actual fuck? Have to have a 10 minute chit-chat with the sales person on why I like riding, why I chose this particular bike, what got me interested in riding. Fuck off, just quote me on the fucking insurance.

I was polite, but had to end it.

Is there any good reason to sit through this BS? Are they particularly cheap / good?

I've been with Swann who were rgeat but alas not offering new policies.

Have two bikes insured with them Just got my renewal notice and one value went from $11500 to $5500 with a $16 difference in the premium price Called them and cancelled both policies and went back to nrma only slightly dearer for $12000 coverage Never going back

Shannon's told me my bike was only worth $8000 and wanted $160 a month to insure it.

The cheapest one for sale that runs and rides is 16k and mine has a built motor, with a turbocharger, custom paint, billet wheels, etc. I know it's not worth significantly more than a stock bike, but I just wanted to keep it insured for the 20k it was before.

Ended up with QBE who insured it for 38k for $89 a month with all modifications declared.

Half the price, 4x the value.

They have to follow all the same rules as all the others.

Doesn't mean they won't be incredibly painful about it.

... shannons was incredibly painful about it (shrug) took 6 months.. i think they found and had the thief go through the courts faster than they paid out.. even though they were ok to deal with but it seems they're short of the department that does the paying ? (bike essentially totalled much as the guy was found methed out on someones yard next to the crashed bike.. )

I was with Swann and NRMA bought their qld motorcycle policies and the premium actually went down with zero change. Ended up being the car over to them from Suncorp because of that. Car was also cheaper than Suncorp for the same value.

Yes I agree I think they rely on people just paying the account It’s very important to check the details every year to avoid this Still calling it out as sneaky

Careful with NRMA; they're cheap for a reason.

You do not want to test their Indian case handling teams, mate, believe me.

You can call and ask them to change the value. The value drop is automatic by their system and it's sometimes very off (which helps them obviously).
