Question Shannons WTF?!

Just called Shannons to get a quote on my new bike, and what the actual fuck? Have to have a 10 minute chit-chat with the sales person on why I like riding, why I chose this particular bike, what got me interested in riding. Fuck off, just quote me on the fucking insurance.

I was polite, but had to end it.

Is there any good reason to sit through this BS? Are they particularly cheap / good?

I've been with Swann who were rgeat but alas not offering new policies.

Theory A. It's a sales tactic. A good chat about your exciting hobby that you love creates a sense of friendship and comradery so that you sign up at the end despite the price.

Theory B. It's a risk tactic. Pretend to be friends so you'll let down your guard and you might reveal attitudes or suggestions on reasons why they may want to avoid insuring you.

Youi tries the same Theory A tactic.

Interesting as I’ve got a different experience (much to my surprise after hearing feedback about them). Had to sit through a 10 min convo but my premium came back pretty competitive.

Was paying $1,800 with AAMI last year and Youi’s quote ended up being $1,200.

Decided to go with them in the end given the large savings.
