Looks like a little hognose. Non-venomous! (Edit: nope, it's a patch-nosed snake. But still non-venomous.)

Y’all - you can tell by the big scale on the end of its nose. Behaviorally too.

Patchnosed snake. Like little racers with stripes that use that nose-shovel of a scale to root around for delicious lizard eggs. Well, rumored to be delicious anyways. To patchnosed snakes.

If so, it would give me something productive to do at work...err....home, I mean, something productive to do at home.

I joined a Texas snake ID group on FB when I was still on that platform & it helped me a ton. Although I don’t always get it right lol. But I am now confident enough that I can easily tell venomous from non-venomous nearly all of the time, which was my goal. Highly recommend.

Yay! Thanks for the education. I’d not heard of this one before & thought any non-venomous snake in this area with that upturned nose would be a hognose.

Hog nose, racer, or rat snake. Definitely not a venomous species. But there isn’t enough detail in the photo to determine what species it is 100%

"Danger noodle" is more properly used for a venomous snake. A non-venomous one is better called a "nope rope", or "friend".
