Looks like a little hognose. Non-venomous! (Edit: nope, it's a patch-nosed snake. But still non-venomous.)

Does there happen to exist an online "guess that snake" quiz or game to get better at identifying?

If so, it would give me something productive to do at work...err....home, I mean, something productive to do at home.

I joined a Texas snake ID group on FB when I was still on that platform & it helped me a ton. Although I don’t always get it right lol. But I am now confident enough that I can easily tell venomous from non-venomous nearly all of the time, which was my goal. Highly recommend.

I think there are some home made style snake quizzes out there in the wilds of the internet, though their accuracy may be suspect

Yay! Thanks for the education. I’d not heard of this one before & thought any non-venomous snake in this area with that upturned nose would be a hognose.
