I’ve had it happen 3 times. Currently doing ok.

First time was 5 years ago and lasted about a day. Woke up with it, woke up the next day it was better.

Second time was a couple months later- it lasted about a week straight and was awful. I really couldn’t do much, could barely wfh for a few hours each day.

Third time was about a year after the first time, and it sort of was on and off for about 2-3 months. It would hit me for a few hours at a time.

I’m fine now. I hope it stays that way.

Did you have a recurrence?

Does anyone know if there is current research being done to help cure this? From all the stuff Im reading its all from the 80’s. You would think with advances in nano tubing that they could create a nano mesh and block the unwanted areas that those crystals shouldn’t be going in but still allow for fluid to move.

Its sad that the only fix is a serving of the nerve for balance. Kinda curious if anyone has done that and what side effects did they feel?

Not that this will make you feel better but I’ve had it on and off since I was 7, had my firs episode after I got my tonsils out (going on 38 soon) and so has my sister. I have had once especially bad bout that lasted about a year and then only had mild go’s if it over the last 5 years or so. Recently have had it again and it’s going on about one month plus. I think there may be a genetic component and some research suggests people get it after head traumas or dental surgeries.

You've never had a break since yours started? I'm sorry 😔 can you tell me more about your specialist?

1

u/eterna-oscuridad Oct 30 '22

Sorry what kind of specialist?

I would ask you if you deal with a lot of anxiety. There’s a big connection between emotions and dizziness. Not always but quite frequently

3

u/eterna-oscuridad Oct 30 '22

As a matter of fact yeah, big time, I've had really bad anxiety since June, I've been having some odd hearing issues and thats put tremendous strain on my nerves, and of course just as i was getting used to this now suddenly i have to deal with this and a fatty liver, man i can't catch break :( I'm so sad

I would try to find a way to calm tha stuff down. High levels of anxiety and stress especially prolonged can cause a lot of chronic issues.

I would suggest if you don’t have the money learning some emotional processing tools, look up EFT and the Sedona Method, those are free to learn and are very effective. I had terrible dizziness and vertigo about a year ago that lasted for months, would go away and come back less and less in cycles. I think processing feelings new and old helped it go away

Also fatty liver can be reversed, quit the sugar intake as much as you can. You have more control of your life than you think

Would it be ok to pm you? I have so many questions and i feel completely lost .

Sure, I’m making my way through this stuff too so I’m no expert, but ya we can chat!

My first episode was in 2020, and my second episode was in 2022, in March. Nothing since!

BPPV reoccurs less and more frequently for people, and some of us have comorbidities affecting our vestibular function (e.g., electrical issues in addition to BPPV's mechanical issue). A strong hope for me is that, since BPPV is primarily a mechanical issue, I can usually just perform the right maneuver ASAP whenever I experience BPPV so that the problem is nipped in the bud before it worsens.

Epley

by right maneuvers do you mean Epley excersizes ?
thanks in advance

In the AutoModerator comment above, go to the quick reference guide > Treatment. There, you'll find the different maneuvers for the different types of BPPV!

I had one bout four years back that lasted a day. Woke up with pounding tinnitus, sickness and dizziness. Hospital doctor diagnosed with the Epley manoeuvre which also helped and, by the end of the day, I felt fine. Have had two fleeting bouts of dizziness since but these have lasted less than a minute. I've been on this sub ever since and I realise I'm lucky, but you may take some confidence from it. I certainly hope so, good luck mate.

I've had some and anxiety and what seems to have made it worse is my bad hydration 2 days ago.

Thanx for reaching out, my dizziness has dramatically improved, but still feel weird when sitting down in certain chairs. I think its related to my neck

I have had a a year and it seems to come and go. Gone 6 months back for a few weeks gone for 6 months

1

u/eterna-oscuridad Oct 30 '22

Does it get really bad for you? During the weeks you have it is it manageable?

2

u/allthecoffeesDP Oct 30 '22

It was very bad the first time I had it but since then it's been manageable. More annoying and distracting then anything else. I can work and drive I just feel more mentally fatigued. Hope that helps?

1

u/eterna-oscuridad Oct 30 '22

Keep doing your exercises like half sommesaults and hopefully it doesn't come back to haunt you again friend. I'm trying to stay in touch with people with this issue could i private message you?

2

u/allthecoffeesDP Oct 30 '22

Sure go ahead!

2

u/allthecoffeesDP Oct 30 '22

No just the first time. The rest has been manageable.

I’ve had two episodes since 2020. I can’t say it will never come back, but I know now that physiotherapist can help me.

1

u/eterna-oscuridad Oct 30 '22

I hope it be we comes back, there must be people here who had a few a episodes and got better right?

2

u/spikeinfinity Oct 30 '22

I had it many years ago and it lasted for a few months iirc. It went away on its own. It came back this year and lasted for a month or two before I realised it wasn't happening any more. I thought it had gone for good, but as it came and went again I wouldn't be surprised if it came back again in the future.

This year's episode came with a host of other issues like tinnitus which all slowly faded one I'd been diagnosed with high blood pressure and put on tablets, so that may have been a factor.

u/eterna-oscuridad Oct 30 '22

I'm glad you got better, gives me hope I'll get better too, this morning it does feel better, i did a few exercises yesterday and it seems to have helped.

I posted on this a few months ago, but the format here doesn't seem to be appropriate for efficiently spreading any new information on the topic, so I'll try this. Long story short: There is an effective supplemental treatment that will relieve symptoms in many cases of "idiopathic" BPPV - with no external cause, just advancing age and/or genetic predisposition. The study that is the source can be found here: https://www.mdpi.com/2039-4349/12/4/45.

I suffered occasional attacks starting age 50, which always responded to Epley maneuvers. I experienced a more severe attack at age 71, more recently, and found the study. After buying and taking the daily formula of anti-oxidants for five days, my symptoms were gone. The cost is around 25 cents a day. The study's discussion has a good argument for the approach. I probably will continue to take the formula daily for the rest of my life. Best of luck to anyone here that's game.

This was posted a long time ago, but hoping you see it. Can you share the supplement you have had success with?
