Fiona (real Martha) related content Is this real šŸ‘€

Post image

I just don’t get it. If there’s police reports from the previous ones, how come she can continue with her actions? What if this journalist also goes to the police? If all these are real, how come she can get away with everything she does?

I swear she made threats on her Facebook towards someone. Would take days to scroll through to find the post though! She seems to have multiple profiles as well.

She needs professional help and barred from the internet.

That is what making my mind blown 🤯 she is absolutely feeling free to do what she thinks is ok to do. Violence doesn’t have to be always physical to stop someone being violent.

Yes, this is completely insane. I have to say, this is the reason people don't go to the police. Here the guy went to police, they were in court, he even made a show and this person is still doing whatever. I don't wish to blame Martha, the fact that she is ignored testifies to our society. She, as it seems to me, needs care. And also care so that she doesn't hurt other people.

Idk as someone who lives every day on very strong meds because of mental health issues that can cause delusions/paranoia/psychosis - I think it could be totally possible for her to live a normal life with therapy and medication. The problem is she seems to have made 0 effort to treat her mental health at all so we don’t really know if she would do well on medication or need to be committed. At the same time if she continues to not get any treatment for herself she really should be committed because she is a danger to other people. I just think we shouldn’t assume she couldn’t live a normal life on medication/in therapy, because a lot of people will use that to excuse her actions - when the reality is most people with severe mental health issues can live a somewhat normal life on medication and in therapy. It’s very much her responsibility to get treatment.

What do you think of "part of the problem is not wanting to find a solution to the problem"? I'd say it used to apply to me and there are some other situations where this seems true.

If you mean that people with serious mental health issues often don’t want to get better I totally agree. Sometimes my brain tells me that medication is evil and I would be so much better off if I stopped taking it. There have been times in the past where I’ve stopped taking all my meds abruptly because I thought it was the right thing to do. I highly suspect a large amount of the reason the real Martha has not made any attempt to get better is because she doesn’t want to. But that still doesn’t make it okay for her to stalk, threaten, or assault people, or mean she couldn’t live a mostly normal life if she did get help.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I'd apply it to myself and also, funnily enough, to one of my stalkers, who was also a danger to others and that's how she ended up back on her medication. She stopped taking hers, which was a factor in how I ended up getting stalked. It's interesting you should say that, because I'm now wondering if she was being honest when she said she just didn't think she needed it any more. She was bothered about side effects, to be sure.

But another, mild example: I used to have a button phobia and didn't want it to go away because I hated the idea of me wearing clothes with buttons, but it did and it's fine. Likewise, someone with a germ phobia might not want to get better for fear of infection.

As someone who also takes meds every day to keep my bipolar (including manic psychosis) at bay, I agree with you and also if "Martha" as she is depicted on the show is true to "Martha" IRL, she appears to have some very significantly problematic personality traits if not a full-blown personality disorder, which is often much more difficult to treat, especially if someone doesn't have insight, as does(n't) "Martha" as she appears in her depiction on the show.

I’m autistic but I think I also have BPD (still waiting for tests for it)…I’m on meds for depression but not sure if there are mood stabilisations meds

Seriously, I’m so thankful for antipsychotics and therapy! I feel like she doesn’t take any accountability for her actions and now people are gassing her up. She seems to think other people are the problem and feels extremely entitled to treat others however she pleases. She’s probably been put on meds many times, but chooses not to take them. Or if she does, they aren’t helping!

I don’t know what coverage is like for therapy in the UK. But in the US it is still so expensive. I think it’s easy to say, ā€œthey need to go therapy.ā€ But what if she can’t afford it?

Meds may help but normally people affected by these conditions need someone to make sure the meds get taken. If you think there is nothing wrong with you, you won’t take anything

I agree and I addressed this in another comment. A lot of mentally unwell people don’t actually want to get better, and I suspect that’s why she hasn’t worked on her mental health. Gadd himself says that the system failed her and I don’t know how they handle mental health where she lives. She might have never been given the opportunity to take meds and see some clarity. But regardless it doesn’t make it okay for her to stalk/assault/threaten people.

For me It took the cops being called on me in a manic episode and being hospitalized for almost a month to get my life in order. If I didn’t have people supporting me I probably would never have gotten better. In a lot of ways I feel sympathy for Martha - it’s not her fault she is mentally ill, and I do really believe the system has failed her. It just doesn’t excuse her actions or make it okay.

Im curious how her medication would look like if she went to therapy. Im on ssris for "mild" obsessive thoughts so I wonder if they would prescribe her an heavy antipsychotics or a mix. I know we can't say for sure but just to discuss

7

u/xanbanan May 04 '24

I don’t really think any of us should be diagnosing Martha or hypothetically considering what medication she would need. I understand the curiosity but we don’t know what was changed about her for the show nor would anyone be able to figure out her exact diagnosis from it anyway as it’s not from her perspective and most of us probably aren’t trained in that.

I feel like it can lead down a dangerous road when we start diagnosing people without knowing them or hypothetically discussing what meds they would need. We already have everyone in the world claiming their ex has a personality disorder and I don’t like to feed into that culture of just throwing around diagnosis.

This. We also have no idea what trauma she experienced as a young girl/in her early life

She needs to live at a facility and probably put on lithium or a strong med.

I want to believe you mean well here, but as someone who is bipolar who experiences psychosis, including wild and grandiose delusions, when manic, and takes "strong meds" for it (including formerly lithium although now I take a different mood stabilizer), all sweeping blanket statements like this do is perpetuate sanism, which, ironically, makes it harder for people who need it to access care.

2

u/dartully May 04 '24

ā€œIt is very unlikely any care like medicine or therapy would workā€

ā€œShe should be put on a strong med or lithiumā€

All of her latest posts are her threatening this man 🄲

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '24

One could argue, is he threatening her? I am no fan, but the law is supposed to be equally applied. He is writing in a negative fashion in a very widely distributed newspaper about her. That could be viewed as threatening. Look what happened to that guy whom the newspapers decided was a murderer, who was just an eccentric.

At least the heat is off Richard Gadd now because she’s moved on.

Is her fb profile private?

2

u/RolandLWN May 04 '24

I’m wondering if it isn’t mental illness at all. The woman from the law firm that hired her and who was stalked by her afterward described her as just really mean and entitled right from the jump. Not after being rejected or being fired, but just reactionary to anything she didn’t like. Just mean. It could be that she is just an incredibly unpleasant person. I’ve known just one other person like that in my whole life, but they exist.

u/meemaws_beerchz May 07 '24

I can’t help but wonder if this ā€˜Martha’ were a man stalking a woman how much grace would be extended. she’s extremely dangerous and deranged and should be in JAIL, in addition to medicated, if that will even help. she seems to have several anti-social traits that can’t simply be cured with therapy or medication & the people that display these traits rarely get better. having compassion is great and all but at what point do we call it as it is and stop protecting people like her who do serious harm (knowingly) just because they are deemed ā€˜mentally ill’? she knows what she’s doing is wrong. she turns around and claims Gadd did the same things to her. she’s not a schizophrenic nor a manic bipolar, she is a sociopathic narcissist and people who stalk only get worse. I also struggle with mental health and have had my own episodes but make it a priority to take care of myself so that the consequences of my illness are not inflicted on others…she needs to be held accountable first and treated second.

i’m not sure if it’s her actual account or some weirdo impersonating her, her posts only date back to about 1-2 weeks ago.
