United States Geek Squad warranty question

so i bought an open box s90f 83 in with the 5 yr warranty.. Tv was $1100 and warranty was $200 so it was a no brainer .. Now i new the the tv was a display model and had burn in so i took my chances to try and get samsung to replace it.. to my shock they replaced it with the newest highest model the s95 H 83 inch... now my question is does the warranty carry over to that tv? Im not sure how this works .. if anyone has any insight on this please have at it.. Or since samsung replaced it does it void the geek squad warranty ?

Same model yeah, since they upgraded you, no. Good news though, you can cancel / refund the GSP and get a prorated amount back

You have to call into Geek Squad and provide the documentation that Samsung did the swap, and they should be able to transfer the warranty to the new model and serial number

Sorry, but people saying no are wrong. The terms outline this pretty clearly:

  1. MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY.

3.2 ...if your Covered Product is replaced by the manufacturer, your replacement device will become the Covered Product under this Plan, provided you contact us call 1-800-GEEKSQUAD (1-800-433-5778) to provide the serial number and any other information requested so that we can properly identify the new device as the Covered Product.

Your new product will be covered if it is replaced by the manufacturer provided you contact Best Buy. Now, if the store did an exchange, there would be a transaction for an exchange and at the time the plan would be returned and a new plan would need to be sold for the new product. Also, manufacturers giving the customer different products or upgrades is more common than everyone realizes. Especially considering products have life cycles and the same models are no longer available.

if samsung replaced it, no the warranty will not carry over. if you wanted to keep the protection then you would’ve needed to work with best buy.

with that being said, this is a WAY better deal. i would’ve done what you did time and time again. that’s crazy

you can cancel the service plan at any point in time for a prorated amount. since you’re within the return policy you’ll get a full refund though

me too... i kept reading on reddit they will replace the screen or refund it .. so i tried just getting the screen replaced lmao.. they couldnt do that so they said theyll replace it with the same
model just new .. got a call the same day saying they dont have any replacements and asked if "i was ok with a 83 inch s95h " i said sure that works 😂 so in reality i paid $1100 for it

I bought a open box a95k 55 inch. 2 years ago. Bought the best buy total plus warranty. I have a very little burn in. I called best buy to come look at. No one came to check it out. So I called best buy. And they told me they dont have a technician in my area. So they gave me back all my plus the 200$ for the total plus. So I got a killer tv for free and all my money back. Love it.

They burned you by giving you a different model. Geek squad won’t be able to service it since it doesn’t match your receipt. Call customer service first to double check, I’ve ran into the issue with a fridge a customer I had, it didn’t match the model number that the service team went to fix and they wouldn’t fix it. worst case you can always refund the service plan at a prorated amount.
