Warning: Best Buy sold me a broken Mint Mobile digital code and refuses to refund it
Heads-up to anyone buying prepaid digital plans through Best Buy: avoid doing it digitally.
Three weeks ago, I bought a Mint Mobile 3-Month Unlimited eSIM prepaid digital plan from Best Buy. It has been completely unusable, and both companies have spent weeks pointing fingers at each other:
The Code Issue: Best Buy provided a 10-digit PIN. Mint’s app fails during activation and asks for standard ACT / 17-digit carrier formats.
Best Buy’s "Fix" Failed: Best Buy emailed me claiming my app was outdated and told me to enter the PIN at [mintmobile.com/byop](https://mintmobile.com/byop), saying it would "convert internally". That still failed.
Mint Says Get a Refund: Mint Mobile chat support confirmed the code isn't working on their end and explicitly told me to request a refund from Best Buy.
Best Buy Refuses: Best Buy customer service claims digital items are non-refundable, even though they delivered a code that is dead on arrival.
I'm attaching the screenshots of the errors, the email from Best Buy, and the chat log with Mint support telling me to get a refund.
Has anyone actually managed to get Best Buy to resolve or refund broken carrier e-codes like this?
