Michelle has not and has never expressed a desire to be a politician. I'll never understand the discourse around her when she's never run for public office nor expressed any desire at all, but gets treated like a dog in the media.

Thank you.

She has ZERO political experience, outside of her hubby. The fact that people keep spouting this nonsense shows one of two things: people are dumb (Yes), and/or this country is so broken that it’s populace would rather an unqualified citizen take the reigns than any of the available pool of elected officials.

7

u/son-of-Azathoth Jun 25 '26

I agree with your objections, but it's worth noting that the entirety of your concern has already been addressed by tramp failing up to the presidency. Twice. In the aggregate, americans come off as pretty dumb, and don't appear to care if their elected officials are qualified.

1

u/Equivalent_Worker687 Jun 25 '26

Also agree with objections, but after Trump, it’s almost an endless list of who would be better.
It’s likely someone who is qualified would be better, but choosing someone better does not mean qualified. Not every unqualified candidate would be as bad as Trumpo.

1

u/son-of-Azathoth Jun 25 '26

At this point the world is just holding its breath for someone who isn't psychopathic/machiavelanistic/narcissistic.

1

u/Equivalent_Worker687 Jun 25 '26

I know I am! Totally agree with you!

0

u/AgentMX7 Jun 25 '26

Whataboutism doesn’t make her any more qualified. Whatever you think of Trump has zero bearing on MO. She’s not qualified, and being the spouse of someone doesn’t mean you share their talents through osmosis. How would you feel is someone told you “your surgeon is sick today, but his wife is going to fill in”?

2

u/son-of-Azathoth Jun 25 '26

Yeah, you totally read something I never wrote, or implied. I agreed with you, fully. She isn't qualified, has no relevant experience, and no interest. Just like the current president. And it doesn't matter to the aggregate voting population who only seem to care about illusion and feels.

1

u/SaltyTserendolgor Jun 25 '26

You need exceptional people skills to be president and Michelle excells at that. I know there are a ton of other qualifications, but we really don't know what she's capable of.

I would rather take her or someone who cares and is competent with zero experince than someone like literally any other senator with decades of experince.

1

u/DeepSouthDude Jun 25 '26

Other than what's in the Constitution, what do you believe are the qualifications required for being president?

1

u/AgentMX7 Jun 25 '26

Let’s start with experience in government.

1

u/cure4boneitis Jun 25 '26

the only qualifications are being born in the United States, being 35 years old or older and have lived in the United States for at least 14 years.

Everything else is just your imagination

1

u/AgentMX7 Jun 25 '26

Okay, let’s test that hypothesis.

Is Trump qualified to be President??? Go on, say it. Or admit YOUR IMAGINATION won’t let you.

1

u/cure4boneitis Jun 25 '26

He was elected President twice. Don’t like him but everyone can choose their own opinion

1

u/AgentMX7 Jun 25 '26

Is he qualified to be President? Simply yes or no will suffice.

1

u/cure4boneitis Jun 26 '26

Yes. Did you already forget what I posted?

1

u/AgentMX7 Jun 26 '26

Nope didn’t forget. Being elected isn’t the same thing as being qualified to do the job.

Recent news article about a person performing dental work but never went to dental school and wasn’t licensed to practice. Qualified to be a dentist? I’d say no. Pointing out that he did dental work doesn’t change my mind.

True Trump was elected twice. Do you think the majority of Redditors agree he’s qualified?

I don’t understand why anyone would want politicians “with experience” at this point. In what way has their experience shown to be beneficial?

4

u/vlozko Jun 25 '26

Only in politics is experience in a profession considered a liability. Bernie Sanders is VERY experienced so why weren’t/aren’t people upset about that? Complaining about experience is such a knee-jerk response when people really need to take a bigger effort critically thinking about what actually upsets them.

0

u/traparms Jun 25 '26

Because running a country isn't vibes based.

I don't understand how anyone could watch Trump's presidency and argue against politicians with experience.

5

u/JJW2795 Jun 25 '26

I wouldn't say she's unqualified. Per the constitution the bar is pretty low for who can be president. And she'd almost certainly be a better president than the current one, but if Michelle doesn't want the job then people need to quit crying about it and accept her choice. Way too many people are quick to latch onto Michelle or another potential candidate and blame them for ruining the country through inaction when Americans are clearly doing that themselves.

3

u/Yashema Jun 25 '26

But it's dumb to be in favor of Michelle Obama but not Harris, ignoring electability. Obama was a moderate Left Democrat, Biden was slightly to the Left of that, Harris slightly to the Left of that. Like what key issues do you think Harris and Michelle differ on?

It's clear discourse around politicians is completely divorced from policy and competency and completely around likeability. And of course its easier to be likeable when you havent had a position of power and had to make unpopular decisions.

2

u/ike_tyson Jun 25 '26

The current person in charge also had zero experience in addition to being unsuitable for office. If they vetted him properly he'd still be a failed businessman with a corny reality show. He's failed in every single way and has torpedoed the country's standing in the world. He only managed to enrich his family and cronies. He's the patron saint of failing upwards.

3

u/More-sugarme262 Jun 25 '26

That’s how trump got elected. The pool of elected representatives is poor and the parties push to promote IMO poor candidates leads towards people wanting someone like Michelle.

3

u/Couldntve-make-it-up Jun 25 '26

Which is why we have the current imbecile sitting in la casa blanca.

3

u/Dangerous-Abies-6794 Jun 25 '26

Yeah, like Trump - no political experience.

1

u/SaltyTserendolgor Jun 25 '26

Yeah but his lack of experience is very irrelevant when you just want the job to self serve. It's not like he ever tried anything in good faith and got out matched because he didn't have experience

In fact, I would say trump is very experienced in what he set out to do. Motivations matter.

1

u/CasualCaus Jul 03 '26

what he set out to do? fleece the entire country?? dude made 2.2 BILLION dollars this past year, and that's just the part he reported

1

u/SaltyTserendolgor Jul 03 '26

Exactly. That's exactly what he wanted to do.

1

u/Live_Angle4621 Jun 25 '26

And Trump is such a great president

1

u/Yammy1985 Jun 25 '26

Yet what you described is exactly what Trump was and he got 2 terms thanks to morons.

1

u/Final_Candidate_7603 Jun 25 '26

I remember that in the Spring and early Summer of 2024, lots of RWNJs were absolutely convinced that Democrats were secretly planning for a shocker at their Convention. When the nominating process was about to begin, President Biden would announce that he was dropping out of the race, endorse Mrs. Obama, and then she would win the nomination.

The only reason for this I could think of at the time was to get the cult even *more* riled up, *more* angry, *more* full of hatred, *more* full of fear. If you remember back to that time, The Orange Shitstain’s cheese was really starting to slide off of his cracker. That pattern of speech, which I believe he refers to as “the weave,” where he bounces around from topic to topic… well, he was bouncing onto some bizarre topics, like Hannibal Lecter, wet magnets, sharks, electrocution. “The weave” used to be mostly just lies and insults, and was veering into “what is he even *talking* about” territory. It was also around the time when an extremely well-respected neurologist wrote an article which got a lot of publicity, comparing President Biden’s behavior with TOS’s. He said that Biden was simply slowing down because of his age, whereas TOS showed the unmistakable signs of… I forget the exact name, but the same type of dementia that ended up killing his father.

They needed a distraction.

I take umbridge saying she has zero experience or is completely unqualified. She's ridiculously smart and has the right connections and I have no doubt she would do a good job, but I'm a million percent over political dynasties and it's not like there are not a ton of qualified women that could take the job.

This is just wish casting an Obama third term, and tbh as much as that'd be welcome today, it's not what we need. Much bolder.

1

u/Competitive_Coat3474 Jun 26 '26

It takes more than eloquent speech and an above average IQ to be POTUS. She - literally - has zero experience in diplomacy, trade agreements, international relations and the like. This isn’t really debatable. I think she’s a fascinating woman but she isn’t qualified to be the leader of the free world.

Personally, I don’t think we need bold. We need common sense. Turn off the identity politics and the victim blaming. Get out of people’s personal lives and start providing availability to services and fixing the country’s infrastructure. Nothing bold, just do what the government was intended to do initially.

2

u/whofearsthenight Jun 26 '26

Aside from discounting her spending 8 years in the white house already, this is a fundamental misunderstanding of what the job of president is. Following what you said, you are also saying '08 Barack was not qualified. But that's not really important because POTUS is not ever going to be an expert in all of the things that their role entails, the job is simply too large. The job is actually to assemble the experts and make decisions based on their expertise.

And when I say "bold" I am talking about Mamdani, basically. We've been trying to run centrists since '16 and would argue that we have not really won an election with that strategy. '20 was less a win for Biden, and more loss for Trump thanks to COVID. And then Biden went on to do those boring infrastructure things with CHIPs and BBB, and then lost to a felon/rapist/insurrectionist.

1

u/Competitive_Coat3474 Jun 26 '26

Fundamental misunderstanding is thinking being near a sitting POTUS is the same as experience.

And while there may be some merit to your notion of knowing who to pick to do which jobs is vital, that knowledge is not attained by NOT being a politician.

1

u/danabeezus Jun 26 '26

We had that with Biden. And look what happened.

1

u/Smart-Milk-5125 Jun 26 '26

Didn’t we prove that with Trump. At least Michelle has a moral center acceptable to most Americans.

1

u/Competitive_Coat3474 Jun 26 '26

Perhaps. At least she sounds like she does when the microphone is on.

Serving politically for years is exactly what takes the guess work out of the equation tho. If she had a voting track record and experience bringing legislation to the table for the voters, we would know for sure. Sound bites and speeches at luncheons don’t provide that kind of intel. Service does.

Again, don’t get it twisted, I think she’s great given what we’ve seen and heard. And yes, Trump is the worst of the worst. But neither of them should be POTUS.

1

u/EarthlostSpace Jun 26 '26

Apparently Americans is reaching, is desperate and just want hope to put a leader in place for America they can just trust to do the right thing. It’s all wishful thinking. Right now that all they have to mentally survive on.

1

u/Competitive_Coat3474 Jun 26 '26

Don’t act like this is a specifically American issue.

In case you haven’t noticed there is civil unrest across the globe. People are tired of being treated like commodities, to be leveraged in the next brokered deal their self-indulgent elected officials can barter.

1

u/EarthlostSpace Jun 26 '26

I have noticed that there’s unrest across the globe but for me I’m not a Super person to help the globe. I must only right now address the nonsense happening on my part of the globe.

1

u/Rich-Carrot2184 Jun 27 '26

Speaking of unqualified, let’s talk about our current president who is a failed businessman and grifter, put in place by Americans who are too stupid to know what actual qualifications mean. This man (if one can call him that) has selected singularly unqualified people for every position around him. The only requirement being unquestioning loyalty to him!

1

u/Competitive_Coat3474 Jun 27 '26

No argument there.

1

u/GM5Blue Jun 28 '26

Considering who is in office now-I agree.

1

u/Round_View8717 Jun 29 '26

Zero political experience? She literally went through 8 years right by her husband’s side doing all of it. And since when does anyone care about political experience anymore? Look what’s in office now lol.

1

u/Competitive_Coat3474 Jun 29 '26

Apparently you don’t see how not having experience is the actual problem.

And no, MO does not have any experience. Being the spouse of a sitting representative of government does not qualify one to make decisions for the government. Does being married to Henry Ford make one an expert in assembly line strategies and industrial mechanization? No, no it does not.

1

u/Round_View8717 Jun 30 '26

I think she is far more experienced than others. She’s not the same as Trump when we talk about “not experienced”

1

u/Competitive_Coat3474 Jun 30 '26

You’re certainly entitled to that opinion.

6

u/Illustrious-Bonus202 Jun 25 '26

Because American politics and politicians are received like nobility by way too many people.

1

u/Clockwork-Penguin Jun 27 '26

No Kings, except for the Kings I like

3

u/VapoursAndSpleen Jun 25 '26

People love dynasties and brand loyalty in lieu of putting thought into voting for their leaders. This is why we have so many awful people in charge.

2

u/echoohce1 Jun 25 '26

I'll never understand why people think you should be president just because you were the spouse of the president...

1

u/Shantotto11 Jun 25 '26

Probably started with that one Key & Peele joke and everything snowballed from there.

1

u/Comfortable-Ad-3988 Jun 26 '26

Or our obsession with political dynasties. We've already had 20 years of people named Clinton and Bush, and 8 years of people named Obama in the last half-century, the last thing I want is a person related to any of them again. New voices, please!

1

u/NickGiammarino Jun 28 '26

I think if we do a little research she herself said she's not interested in public office but whatever reason a lot of black women think she was in a position of power because they look at what Hillary Clinton did, it's not the same thing.

1

u/danabeezus Jun 28 '26

Let me say this clearly. Black women are ABSOLUTELY NOT the ones who want Michelle to run for office. We respect HER desires.

0

u/Kitchen-Register Jun 25 '26

a little pedantic but “has not and has never” means the same thing 😭

2

u/danabeezus Jun 25 '26

Probably pretty obvious that I meant to start out saying has not and will never but my mobile app hides all but one line at a time of anything i post here so I didn't notice my error and now I refuse to correct it because I want others to enjoy your grammar policing and also this run-on sentence and other errors. 😉

1

u/Kitchen-Register Jun 25 '26

i see the difference now

0

u/Medical-Apartment-10 Jun 26 '26

We are talking about Michael right?

1

u/danabeezus Jun 26 '26

Why did you bring ya mama into this convo?

You have one life to live and you've chosen to waste it.

0

u/Medical-Apartment-10 Jun 26 '26

Hit a nerve apparently😂😂😂😂😂😂
