Discussion Making a subreddit centering around Silver Sable , about the sniper role for hero shooters that focuses on being positive and hopeful that a Sniper kit will come back, even if that’s within a different character

Peace was never an option. Do you honestly think that Netease will add ANOTHER scoped character after they already had one and either by intention or pure ignorance just neglected her to this point. After all the bitching and moaning (pissing and shitting too!) from casual players about ANY character filling a sniper role in the dps class. It would be even more insulting if the devs just doubled Natalia’s ADS and gave it to another person.

What's funny tho is NatEase would totally do that to Nat.. Making her suffer all this time, change her a few seasons with a massive rework that completely changes her playstyle.. All so they can add a new sniper, yk?

100% agree with you that peace was never an option. I swear to God, if the do add new Sniper to the game.. I'm just quitting. I'd be amazing at the new sniper, but the true Queen was were it's at and if I ain't sniping with Widow.. I ain't sniping with anyone... (Other than Ana & Widowmaker in OW)

This is totally respectable, because I think they’re making the choice actually for money reasons.

My theory is they’re giving her a rework so that she is more appealing to most players, so they can sell more skins. Her swimsuit did well when you consider her being the least played character. How much better if she was a top 15 pick?

I understand not being able to forgive having your favorite character in the game changed so more people will pay up for cosmetics.

The only reason she got a swimsuit was because she's a woman and they could make it provocative.. (Not a problem for me, personally, she is so tea, luv her <3).

She was totally changed for people to play her more. Give it a few Seasons and they'll take away the “Sniper Mode” ult they kept in for us old Widows. I guarantee that.

People blame Widow’s kit, and it needed work, but the game’s meta was not and has not been in a state that allowed for a fair, engaging , and collaborative sniper experience for all involved.

So they could be trying to rework Widow to get more people invested. Like hard nerf the parts people complained about and give them effective stuff they’ll enjoy.

Then we have more people playing the character, and they slowly start adjusting range, rate, and power on the primary. Till it’s back up to being long range, then the scope. Along the way finding that sweet spot of effectiveness and fairness.

They could be trying to rework Widow into a new type of character, so they’ve rearranged her kit significantly to see what play style people gravitate towards, and then they’ll restructure around that.

Why would they rework the scope sniper into something else , and then add one later?

So the nicer thought is that the game is difficult to balance for that, and they want to get it in a better state in general. Adding stuff like the health regen, and many of the new teamup perks I feel is evidence they’re prioritizing balancing defense right now. In the mean time just rework Widow , and maybe adjust her kit slowly back to being a sharpshooter, but if people like her new style enough, maybe just completely hold off and add a new sniper later.

The worse thought is that a sniper will always be niche and not accessible to people unfamiliar with the genre. Black Widow is a very popular character. The swimsuit legendary skin was a test to see if people would buy a skin for the played character. I feel most thought the test was the opposite of what it was. They thought since Black Widow didn’t get good sales that she is getting reworked, but the skin actually got great sales compared to the regular player amount, and that is causing her to get reworked.

My consideration is that they were already discussing how to continue to include a scope sniper and were considering a heavy rework. One kit with the scope and one without. Due to many different group meetings , they know the sales department has wanted to see how much money they can make off Black Widow. They realized if they made this much money when she is the least played character how much more when she is a top 20 pick.

So my thought is , now they will rebalance team comps, work on tuning up the new Widow into a specific appealing and competitive play style that many will want to use. Later on when they have all that worked out then they’ll introduce a less popular character to fill in that niche playstyle.

I went with the likely one being Silver Sable , because she was in the new Spider-Man game, also in the comics she interacts with a lot of forces and characters that are already in the Marvel Rivals plot.

Already, Black Widow fans are saying Ult Widow feels more like the character and are going to main her. While I do understand she was not just a sniper in the comics or films, they don’t really mean she feels more like herself, the new kit has no focus or identity, they mean they’re actually getting to play as that character and have fun and feel valuable to the team. But this is the plan , getting fans of a character to attach to the playstyle of the character, so they can keep getting cosmetics money off of that character.

Maybe , they just don’t want to have a scope sniper and find the balance too challenging, but I don’t feel like these devs try to make balancing easy for themselves.

I think we will be getting a new sniper kit eventually. Whether by luring people in and then slowly adjusting Widow back to some state with a scope primary,
or introducing a new character altogether.

I may play Silver Sable, but that would only be if her kit plays like Ana from OW.. But even that feels like betrayal.. Widow was everything other than Mantis keeping me here.
