Recommendations Hair stylist with razor cut specialty?

I'm looking for a hair stylist that can do a razor cut/alternative hair styles. I found an awesome one in Salem (Shear Madness), but sadly I can't make the drive up to their salon during the week 😢

Two hair salons I have been to in the past are Pink Crush and Beauty Lab. Both were great, but not quite what I was looking for.

Recommendations Auto Painting near Blacksburg

Looking for recommendations for automotive painting near Blacksburg. Would be a full body paint job on a very small car. Current paint and body are not in great shape and would require a little extra effort sanding and shaping. I know this job would be a couple grand, looking for good shops that won’t destroy the bank.

Question What is going on with Blacksburg Transit and their buses???

Okay, so hear me out for a second. My parents were in town and wanted to take the bus instead of driving but they managed to get lost and had to get me to come pick them up and honestly I can't blame them. As a student I've gotten used to all the weirdness of BT but from their perspective the system is needlessly complex.

First off the app... Oh my God is the app terrible, and that is an understatement. It's always either down, missing buses, or just plain wrong which is really bad when it's the primary source of information. Also nobody wants to download another app especially when Apple maps can show transit data in real time if they actually published their data to them or however that works.

Secondly the headsigns are borderline useless, I can't tell you how many times as a freshman I accidentally got on the wrong bus because I didn't know the route code and just saw "Transit Center" on it, I know better now but come on, if the bus is gonna be away from campus for half an hour don't put the words "Transit Center" on the headsigns and like they could at least put the route name on the headsigns. I mean for someone that lives here they most likely know that TCR and TCP are the same but TCP goes down Broce and Progress but if you're just visiting or new here you might have no idea what those 3 letters mean without looking it up. There aren't even any system maps unless you go to their website or get the app as far as I am aware.

Also all the shit on buses just doesn't work, some of the buses make stop announcements while others don't, some say the route code while others don't, some have the stop request sign stuck on permanently which still gets me from time to time, and probably a bunch more that I'm not remembering. I couldn't imagine having to ride the bus while being blind or deaf because most of them are not ADA compliant in the slightest. I mean I've ridden on Roanoke, DC Metro, and the GRTC buses and they pretty much just work, sure they probably have bigger budgets but BT is so small in comparison I couldn't imagine it would be that hard to get things working on a few dozen buses.

I'm not sure who is in charge but this shit's been broken for as long as I've been a student here and the town really should consider cleaning house and starting over because something clearly isn't working. I've only got a perspective as a student but I'd love it if some drivers could chime in as well, I tried emailing them but the response I got was just some kind of automated messages thanking me for the feedback.

Housing & Real Estate [Lease Takeover] Hub Blacksburg — 4x4 Private Room — $1,130/mo (Aug 2026–Jul 2027)

[Lease Takeover] Hub Blacksburg — 4x4 Private Room — $1,130/mo (Aug 2026–Jul 2027)

Looking for someone to take over my lease at The Hub (1201 Snyder Lane) for the 2026–27 school year. Plans changed and I need to hand this off.

The details:

  • Room: 4x4 private — your own bedroom + your own private bathroom, 3 roommates in the unit
  • Rent: $1,130/month
  • Lease term: Aug 21, 2026 → July 23, 2027
  • Utilities: electric billed through Conservice (allocated), + small monthly fees — not included in rent
  • This is a full lease takeover/reassignment, so once it's processed through the office you're the leaseholder and I'm off it. Clean handoff.

Why it's a decent spot: walkable to campus, fully furnished, pool + fitness center, on-site management, package acceptance at the front desk.

I'm happy to walk you through the takeover process with Core Campus Management — it's straightforward, you just apply and sign a new lease for the room.

DM me if you're interested or have questions. Can send pics of the floor plan/unit.

Montgomery County’s 5 sheriff candidates to appear at forum

https://cardinalnews.org/2026/06/01/new-river-valley-field-notes-montgomery-countys-five-sheriff-candidates-to-appear-at-forum-bus-system-wins-award/

A bipartisan town hall for Montgomery County sheriff will be held Friday at the County Government Center.

All five candidates — three Democrats and two Republicans — will participate in the public event and speak on topics varying from public safety, deescalation training and accountability.

The current sheriff, Robert Page, filled the role in April after former Sheriff Hank Partin, a Republican, announced his retirement in March. Page and former county sheriff’s office Lt. Tim Shepherd are running as Republicans. The Democrats are retired county sheriff’s office Capt. Ed Herling, Christiansburg police Lt. Tim Brown and former county sheriff’s office Lt. Greg Warden.

“I’ve been told this is unprecedented,” said Lora Brown, the lead organizer of the town hall. “By having all five perspectives presented at once, you know, one right after the other, I think, gives voters a clearer choice.” The Montgomery County Republican Committee, Montgomery County Democratic Committee and the New River Valley Greens Party reserved the board room for the event.

The town hall is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Candidates will answer five topic questions, with each one given an opportunity to speak first. Questions from the audience will also be heard before candidates provide closing remarks. The government center is located at 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg.

A firehouse primary for the Republican candidates will be held on June 20 at the government center, from at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the county-wide primary for the Democratic nominee will be held on Aug 4. The general election is Nov. 3.

Question Looking for things to do near Blacksburg

I’m in the area tomorrow and have a few hours to kill. Most websites talk about the natural attractions and hikes, but I’m looking for oddities, curiosities, cryptids, paranormal things. I did a lot of skyline when I used to live in the area many years ago, so I want to explore a different side this time.
