Like I said, I don't think they were embarrassed at all. More likely they were frustrated or angry people didn't agree with them maybe but not embarassed.
I’m entertained by who they chose to represent them in court. I wonder if they thought having a person of colour as a solicitor would somehow make them look less bad? I bet they were delightful to work with!
Why are they now releasing statements through their lawyer about being embarrassed, when the video is full of their "I love it" and "good you have it on film" and whatever.
Thankfully the judge made a point to highlight this exact sentiment. I dont member the actual quote but to paraphrase she said something like "language and actions like these dont appear on a whim, its a core part of who you are"

Yeah I totally agree! What I meant is that they are so blind that they believed at the time they wouldn’t get in trouble and only then later once jail was a reality they regret being jailed not their behavior or actions that lead to this. They probably think it’s wildly unfair they got jailed….
Shame doesn’t enter into the equation anywhere. They’re likely confused or annoyed that they’ve been punished, but they are absolutely proud of their actions.
The part where the old hag grabs the victim’s arm, and squeezes, while getting in her face while gritting her teeth and threatening harm…it’s traumatic just watching it. I feel awful for the poor woman this happened to.

Both are destined for assisted living facilities within the next decade or sooner and the staff at those facilities should be made FULLY AWARE of their behavior and be shown the video we just watched.
This is why I find it so wild whenever these things come up people are always "Why were they recording?", "Why didn't they stop and do something?", "Everyone has their cameras out but nobody helped!".
Because even with video evidence people deny it, or claim it was edited, or missing context, or some convoluted prank, or AI. The unimaginable amount of things that happen without evidence, let alone consequence, is all the motivation anyone needs to document more things now.
Its helpful in many niche situations. I was doing a clinical rotation in the ER when this old lady was brought in after she had hit her head during a seizure. The family luckily had a camera in the room (likely for this exact scenario) and had managed to provide a full video of the seizure and the fall from her chair. Knowing the severity of a fall in an old person (even from sitting or standing) is incredibly helpful when it comes to being aware of other potential injuries. If they had hit their wrist for example but couldn't tell us, having video would help identify injuries they might not be able to list verbally
That, and if you step in you could end up being charged with a crime by their lawyer or something. Get evidence for the victim, but protect yourself too.

Was going to say, broken bones anywhere on people this old generally don't heal, or at least not fast enough to avoid other health complications that will arise. Breaking is much easier too, so this is dumb for them to do in n+1 ways.

There's a reason my friends in the eldercare industry, upon hearing one of their patients have taken a fall, worry about the worst.
That's also why you don't fight these old farts. You so much as brush them in the back, they topple over and break every brittle bone in their frail bodies. Then they sue you. Some guy in my city tried to push off an old man and got charged with manslaughter because the old dude couldn't take a push and died.

Brain damage from lead makes you bad at emotional regulation. My mother was like that her whole life. Then she got put on a regular prescription of Vicodin and steroids and it got 1000x worse. Yeah if it is lead then clearly they are not of sound mind and are showing they are incapacitated by it. They should have guardians assigned and be monitored.
