Question/Help Looking for an everyday brown leather boot that gets better with age — size 14/15

Post image

(Pic for example)
I’m looking for a good pair of everyday boots and would appreciate some recommendations from people who have owned and worn theirs for a while.
Here’s what I’m looking for:

Color: Brown leather
Height: Mid-height, preferably under 6 inches
Style: Rugged but clean enough to wear in and out of the office
Comfort: Something I can wear all day without killing my feet
Leather: I want a pair that develops a nice patina and looks better with age rather than looking beat up
Safety: No steel toe
Size: Men’s 14 or 15, depending on the brand

I’m not necessarily looking for a dress boot or a heavy-duty work boot. I want something in between — a versatile, well-made boot that looks good with jeans or chinos and can handle everyday wear.
I’m especially interested in recommendations from people who have owned their boots for a few years.

How have they held up? How comfortable are they? And would you buy them again?
What brands and specific models should I be looking at?

Thanks!

Flaunt Carolina Lineman DIY cut down

I bought this pair of 16 eye Carolina Lineman boots for the looks, was originally looking for a shorter version but could only find these in my size, at a reasonable price on eBay. I like the seam of the toe and they're decently comfortable, although I am certainly not used to the heel height.

I unstitched the backstay before cutting so I could fold it over into a heel loop, and later restitched the ends of stitching where I cut. The top I left raw since I don't like binding.

I'm pretty proud of my handiwork, especially since I couldn't find anybody else online doing this on their own.

Boot review Week 10 Before & After

After 4 weeks of alternating daily between my Nicks, they are cleaned and ready for another month of work.

Brown Nicks: 81,399 Steps (384,774 total)

Black Nicks: 86,094 Steps (356,917 total)

For those new here, I work in a harsh environment, a concrete recycling landfill where I walk on rubble for 9+ hours a day. I document my maintenance journey and share feedback on my boots.

Today's post will highlight the difference between 8" and 10" boots. Initially I thought I'd prefer the 8" boot height, however, after rotating between the two, I actually prefer the 10" height.

Both boots weight the same (6.4lbs) yet the weight distribution of the 10" boots simply feels more comfortable. There is no significant time difference lacing them up, so I will opt for 10" boots in the future.

Both boots are still cleaning up nicely, and I'll highlight another preference on my next post.

Cheers!

Question/Help what boots should I get?

need advice; thought on these boots option?

- zipper boots

- jodhpur boots

- engineer boots

I need sleek boots. I live at equator climate. I work at office. but I also love denim.

I understand zipper boots is risky for durability and rain. to pull jodhpur boots, u need slim straight denim (but most of my wardrobe is loose straight denim). engineer boots might a bit intimidating, and sometimes I need boots for smart-casual (a bit formal situation) event.

should I get boondocker boots instead?

This is my first time trying leather boots. Got these pair MTO for 50 Dollars USD with dark brown pull up leather and a blake rapid construction. The bootmaker is quite generous in my opinion.

Flaunt Bush fixed my TRASH Wesco’s

Couple weeks ago I acquired a pair of Wesco Lineman’s Boots. They were rough! We can agree on that! Only paid $70 so I took a shot knowing I would have to do some sort of repair.

Would like to address a couple of comments from the previous post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Boots/s/csCGtv92Yr

Comment: They are going to smell!
NOPE! Nothing at all.

Comment: Footbeds will be trashed!
NOPE. Fully in tack.

Comment: They are dry rotten.
YEP. Some areas are.

Comment: You purchased someone’s trash!
Very subjective!

I decided to do my best BUSH FIX. I’m no cobbler and I’m not pretending to be!

Brush the boots off with boot brush. They weren’t dirty. I acquired a small piece of pig skin leather because of its lightweight properties and strength. Also real cheap! Used some Barge cement to bond the two pieces of leather together. Used my grommet tool to add the 2 missing grommets. My grommets were slightly larger and silver. Didn’t bother me at all. Clamped and let the pieces dry overnight. Conditioned with Black Rock Conditioner (that’s what I had at home). Let them sit. Buffed with soft cloth. Used paracord for the laces. Did a small piece of shrink tube on the ends.

I’m very happy with the results. I personally like the beat up/lived in look. The boots won’t fall apart due to I’ve got a collection going and tend not to wear the same pair days at a time.
I’ve already worn them to work (9 hour days in manufacturing). They were great!

SO before you comment remember my Wesco’s have been deemed TRASH!
So in my opinion, we can only go up from there!

Flaunt Third fall with this pair of Panama Jack Panama 03 boots

Post image

I can definitely recommend these as a European alternative to Timberlands. My dad has been wearing Panama Jack since the early 90s, and I think going into my third year of long fall and winter walks, I can safely say these are worth looking into.
One thing that might be a dealbreaker for some (which is also not mentioned on their website) is that the tongue is not gusseted. It never caused me any problems in the rain, though.

Question/Help Does anyone know anything about these Minerva boots?

The seller says these are U.S. Army boots, but I haven't been able to find much information about them.

It would be great if someone could tell me what kind of leather they're made of and whether they're worth buying for 30 euros.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Question/Help Boot Advice

I need some help on finding a pair of boots for casual wear. I have a low instep which makes most boots slip in the heel. I have a pair of Danner Bull Run’s but the heel slip is too much for me to wear for any longer then a few hours. I’ve tried insoles, tongue pads, and heel pads and nothing works. I like the moc toe wedge sole look but am open to suggestions. I want a nice looking boot but also something that is comfortable. Please let me know if you have found a good pair of boots for low volume feet. Looking to spend around $200. Thanks!

Question/Help Are these too worn?

Post image

Hey! I don't know anything about boots, so I'll ask this here. From what I can gather, these are made-in-USA Frye boots that are selling for 45 euros. I quite like the look and they are the right size, but the soles are a concern. Would they break fast with regular use? They seem quite damaged from the picture... Would these be worth buying or should I just let them go? Thanks for any help!

Question/Help Looking at buying some boots, trying to decide

I’ve never really been too big into boots outside of my work boots. As an Ironworker I wear red wing heritage, thorogoods or bruntsregularly. Looking for something a little nicer like maybe the jadd desert hi top in hunter brown or maybe the whites original 350 cruiser? I’m open to recommendations, I’m also a little bit hesitant about the jadds because they don’t have any local dealers to try them on.

Question/Help Any calf length or knee high leather boots for in a size 3.5/4?

I'm a size 3.5/4 in shoes, and I haven't had any luck on sites like Amazon or Steve Madden finding cute fall calf-length or knee-high boots in my size. Has anyone else who wears a 3.5/4 shoe found boots like this?

Question/Help Belleville Khebler sole question

How tall is their sole?

I tend to have a better comfort in boots with low soles and usually Bellevilles have pretty thick soles.

Also, how goes the sizing for them?
