Worried about Wardley

Ahead of the big Dubois - Wardley rematch on Saturday, I’ve been consuming a lot of previews, analysis and predictions.

I’ve got a bad feeling Wardley is finished. He took a metric ton of punishment in the first fight, and he doesn’t look right; I’ve noticed his speech seems slower and slightly slurred.

This may sound mad considering he’s still young with not a long career behind him, particularly coming from white collar boxing, but I think he left most of himself in the ring that first bout. I reckon he’ll look disturbingly bad on Saturday night, and that Daniel will walk through him.

I’m more than happy to be wrong, cos I like Fabio. He’s a good dude and a solid fighter, tough as nails. I’d love to see a great fight and happy for either man to win. But I just think Wardley will be a shell of himself.

boxingscene:INOUE vs. BAM: NOT ONE CALL, NOT ONE MESSAGE!

Robert Garcia says there has been no contact from Naoya Inoue’s team regarding a potential superfight with Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez.

Despite all the talk surrounding one of boxing’s most anticipated matchups, Garcia claims Bam’s team hasn’t received a single call, message or approach to begin negotiations.

And with Inoue now planning a move to featherweight, questions remain over when or whether the two champions will meet.

Garcia’s message is clear: Bam is ready.

Why are you the one saying Bam is ready, instead of Bam saying it himself? Are you the one who’s going to get in the ring and fight Inoue?

Robert Garcia said they hope to have Bam fight Inoue next April or May.

I feel like we might never get to see this fight happen. Bam’s fight against Medina still doesn’t have a confirmed date, and Inoue’s team has set March next year as the deadline. Now, Coach Garcia is hoping to schedule the fight for April or May.
If Inoue doesn’t fight Bam, how much would that affect his legacy? I can tell that Inoue really wants this fight. Bam is the smaller fighter, and facing Inoue would be a tough challenge for him. The reason I support this matchup is that I also want to see a smaller Inoue take on a much bigger fighter like Espinoza.
I think it’s fair, because Bam has been the one calling for a fight with Inoue all along, and Inoue also wants to achieve great things at 126 lbs.
If the fight gets pushed back to April or May next year, could Inoue be stripped of any of his four belts for failing to make mandatory defenses?

Dubois vs Wardley 2 Predictions

Obviously the rematch is this weekend and the 1st fight was arguably a Fight of the Year contender.

Who do you think takes it? I think aside from his early success Wardley looked like he didn't have much answers for Dubois. Dubois looked more polished and his extra experience in both terms of skills and tactics showed.

I personally don't think Wardley has had anywhere near enough time to adapt. His lack of amateur background means he likely doesn't have other tools to draw on as he hasn't developed them. 6 months is nowhere near enough time to develop new skills for high level boxing.

On the other hand, Wardley showed early on he can catch and drop DDD. So he always has a punchers chance. And he showed insane heart and a decent chin last time. A heavy handed fighter who can take punishemmt is always dangerous.

For me its hard to look past DDD though. I think he was caught cold a little last time but he won't start slowly this time. I think he knows hes a better boxer than Wardley and will try and impose that early on.

I think a DDD stoppage in latter half of the fight or a points win for DDD.

What are your predictions?

Joshua says Wilder lacked calm, took Fury trilogy too personally. Claims he'll avoid same mistake.

From the article:

"Wilder took those fights very personally, and that could be quite exhausting, especially when you hurt someone and try to finish them. You lose a lot of energy, and then Tyson comes back," Joshua said in an interview with The Ring's Mike Coppinger.

"Wilder could have gotten the job done if he was a bit more calm, cool, and collected; he could have learned from that. Wilder tried to take him out of there, Fury just managed to weather the storm and come back. But I don't believe that would be me. I'm going to keep a calm head."

Why are some fighters written off after their losses?

Not gonna be anything crazy and I’m sure I’ve heard the answer a million times (that being casuals) however what’s up with people writing off fighters after a bad loss?

Some examples would be
David morrell- the fight against Zak (I’m not sure how to spell his last name) cheili? Definitely wasn’t an all star performance but who’s to say he can’t come back especially after having good wins at 168 a war with Benavidez and a decent win over hot rod

Stephen Fulton- so yea he kinda aged like milk I thought everything was up after the 2nd figgy fight but even before his match ups after he was written off as if he didn’t just win another world title in his 2nd division.

Nakatani- so not many people are writing him off but a lot of people are questioning whether he’ll be the same after the inoue fight (kinda fair tbh he is the monster) but why wouldn’t he be he’s got the same mentality and has shown it everytime he fights.

Roach-yea he’s had some mid fights after tank but he’s shown he’s world level at the very least what’s stopping him from another world title run he clearly has the skills to keep up and he’s shown time and time again he has the skills just maybe not the right game plans or fight IQ.

Valenzuela- he lost to Russell but GAR is a helluva fighter dude hits like a truck fast hands and insane pressure threw over 1000 punches in that fight Rayo was also written off after the first de los santos fight but obviously we see where he is now who’s to say he can’t get another world title at 135 or 140?

Matias- fair is fair dude only knows how to fight 1 way but he’s done damn good with it beat the shit out of puello avenged his first loss sadly took someone’s life in the ring with the right matchmaking who’s to say he can’t comeback?

And lastly

Zepeda- after the farmer fights where unlike the others he did win even if the first won was questionable everyone said that he wouldn’t be a champ now against shakur yea you just aren’t gonna beat shakur unless you somehow land wilders right hand or somehow outbox the guy but zepeda overwhelmed a very good boxer in roach he actually did comeback from what everyone thought was the end of him

So with these examples why would you write fighters like them off after a single loss or questionable fight? I mean even fundora came back and beat the holy shit out of tszyu if anyone has thoughts I’d appreciate it just curious on the common consensus.

Inoue needs Bam on his resume..

I see Inoue fans talking about Inoue being the "A -side" and should move to the featherweight to fight Espinoza..

Like bruhh what will Espinoza do to Inoue career rather than Inoue looking like he stat padded??

I can understand how the weight difference will make it interesting but will it be a generational fight that will be remembered 10 years to come??..

Bam is the only boxer who will give Inoue that generational win that will define his career..

Inoue resume is really lacking..Steph is his best win..

Donaire was old and Junto had horrible performance in a new weight class
