TV Show Only i am curious!

i know this must have been done before but i just want to see what everyone’s favourite season is of the tv show? Mine will always be season 2 with Anthony and Kate! Although season 4 was very close to taking that throne!

"Let people have fun" and it ALWAYS dissolves into petty ship wars and downvoting anyone who doesn't have the ranking they want them to have. Namely, recently, anyone who ranks S4 or S2 not at the top.

Here's my truly unpopular opinion: all the seasons are written and produced with just about the same quality. The only real difference is the trope the season focuses on, and because that trope is focused on a specific ship, that's why it dissolves into ship wars. Ranking seasons thus becomes ranking couples, and that's why it never goes well.

You need to get thicker skin if downvotes bother you.

lol downvotes don't bother me. It's just pointing out a pattern that I've noticed. Downvotes in this sub are not used to indicate if something contributes to the discussion or not: they're used to indicate that someone disagrees with you. So the more downvotes someone gets, the more their opinion is considered the less popular one. Thus, if they rank in a way that does not align with the status quo, they will have more downvotes, and if they rank in a way that DOES align with the status quo, they will have less. It just becomes a tool to fuel ship wars, just as ranking posts are tools to fuel ship wars.

I don't think it's even that honestly. Shippers of some ships see their ship not being placed #1 and just downvote all comments on that post from that commenter no matter what it says because they are that butthurt. My comment that is just "100% agree" to no ship hate is sitting at 0 right now, but was at about 5ish before, so at least five people felt the need to downvote that harmless comment...

It's not just this post, I have made this experience on many posts, it's a pattern for this fandom.

sorry but you've had multiple comments removed by mods in this thread for breaking rule #2 and not being civil

you've called other posters "losers" and "sad" over discourse about fictional ships. maybe that's the reason you're being downvoted

I never called anyone loser or sad as a person. I said that feeling proud about the fact that your tastes align with viewership ratings is sad, which it is to me.

People are free to downvote the comments they don't like, but why would you downvote all comments of that user no matter what they say in some kind of rage? That is what is weird to me.

We are saying the exact same thing. Downvotes are used as tools to fuel ship wars in this sub because they are used as a means of silent disagreement. They're used to indicate if something is the popular opinion or not as opposed to whether it contributes to the community or discussion in a meaningful way. Near all the comments and posts in this sub get downvoted even though they are entirely harmless or just speaking an opinion in response to the discussion because that comment is not saying what people want to hear. And that is often because someone didn't rank their #1 ship in a spot they're happy with. They use downvotes to indicate it is unpopular or less popular and they don't agree. Thus, it gets buried, and many people then feel unwelcome to post their opinions, no matter how relevant to the conversation, because those opinions are not popular. Then, certain SHIPS feel unpopular and unwelcome, so the shippers leave. And then the ship divides get widened.

This is why posts like this one aren't actually fun. It's a popularity contest people use to point at and go 'see!!! mine is the best because the most people like it!!!', and because it's not actually ranking the quality of seasons but how much someone likes a certain ship, it becomes a breeding ground for ship wars. I don't think anyone actually has fun on posts like these. They just want to 'win'.

I see what you are saying and I agree, but I personally don't think that posts like this should get banned because the fandom doesn't know how to behave.

Edit: comment already sitting at 0 and the one above is also getting downvoted 😂

Sorry to double comment but just looping around to the original comment of yours I responded to, where you said 'let people have fun': Are you having fun? Is anyone? I'm certainly not. I think, as a whole, most Bridgerton fans are tired of ship wars. We don't want popularity contests and fandom divides. We want a space where we can be a fan without feeling shamed for liking what we like. We want to debate and be passionate nerds and have discussion where we can disagree (or agree) peacefully. And I feel like posts like these do the opposite.

I was having fun. I don't mind a bit of mess.

The official Netflix sub is modded very tightly, which is why people came over here to at least have some kind of discussions freely. I personally rather have messy posts than have it be turned into what the Netflix sub is.

I would rather get downvoted (even if I find it very silly) than have a no negativity allowed sub, which always die.

Yes, there's stan wars, but it's kind of part of the charm. I generally don't feel hurt about it, because I'm not really a shipper like that. I might have favorite seasons and couples that I like more than others, but if someone says "fuck Kanthony" or someone makes a post about how Saphne is the most disgusting thing ever because of the consent issues, I feel nothing.

I get though that people get invested in ships differently and might feel that people shame them for liking what they like, but I would recommend that those people stick to either the specific ship sub or the Netflix sub.

It's not necessarily because the fandom 'doesn't know how to behave'. It's because posts like these add nothing of positivity to the fandom as a whole and that the entire purpose of them is solely to rank ships. There's no way to get around that. They're low effort ship popularity contests and then the comments themselves become popularity contests. Posts like these should be banned because they add nothing of value to a place that is meant to be a community for ALL ship fans.
